BTTH: Rebirth of Liu Xi

Liu Xi calmed his mind, returning his consciousness inward. Beneath the towering Bodhisattva Ancient Tree, his expression remained composed as he gazed quietly at the faintly glowing, milky-white orb of light before him.

The orb trembled lightly, as if something within was struggling to break free. Waves of immense power rippled outward, enough to make Liu Xi tense in anticipation.

’This is the remnant soul of the Pure Lotus Demon Saint—an existence even more terrifying than the Yellow Spring Demon Saint. If he awakens, I might be able to negotiate with him first, making it easier to subdue the Purifying Demonic Lotus Flame...’

His eyes flickered with expectation—but suddenly, the glow dimmed and the trembling ceased. Liu Xi’s excitement froze, his anticipation turning to irritation.

”This is some kind of scam!”

Sensing the malicious intent from the Pure Lotus Demon Saint’s remnant, Liu Xi’s face shifted into a sinister grin. ”Bodhisattva Tree, hit it!”

The Bodhisattva Ancient Tree rustled gently in response, the sound of its leaves whispering in the air. However, it did not lash out.

”Huh? Too weak? One strike and it’s gone, is that it? Fine then—let’s meet this senior in person!”

Liu Xi’s eyes sharpened. He wasn’t willing to give up so easily. The remnant soul of the Pure Lotus Demon Saint was right here—if he missed this chance to seize the Demon Saint’s inheritance, he might never get another.

Gentle sacred light drifted from the Bodhisattva Ancient Tree, enveloping Liu Xi completely. A serene energy wrapped around him as his mind turned clear and his spirit refreshed.

The divine energy carried him straight toward the glowing orb. He couldn’t control his body and could only watch helplessly as he crashed directly into it.

Pop!

He was drawn in instantly. When his vision cleared, he stood in a world of pure white—endless, vast, and without boundary.

”So this is where the Pure Lotus Demon Saint resides? Then where is the Demon Saint himself?”

Standing with hands clasped behind his back, Liu Xi surveyed the horizon. The world was immense and tranquil, filled with an overwhelming sense of vastness.

Suddenly, the ground trembled. Liu Xi tensed, scanning his surroundings warily. Then, as if stirred by a breeze, countless wisps of white mist gathered together like massive cotton clouds that gave off a faintly sweet fragrance. When they finally dispersed, a figure clothed in white appeared.

The figure’s outline was tall and elegant, the face blurred, yet the bearing was ethereal—like a bright moon hanging in the sky, distant and untouchable.

”Ah... young one,” the figure sighed softly. ”Why persist so stubbornly? With that tree’s protection, you could come and go freely from this realm. Even my little flame wouldn’t be able to restrain you.”

Liu Xi’s eyes lit up. At last, he faced the true spirit. He straightened and cupped his fists respectfully. ”Junior Liu Xi greets the senior. I came here to subdue the Purifying Demonic Lotus Flame. As its former master, only with your assistance can I truly make it my own.”

”Power... must it always be so important?” The Demon Saint’s voice was calm, tinged with weariness. ”You are already no weaker than that little flame. It is only its strange nature that makes it harder to control.”

Liu Xi’s lips twitched. He couldn’t help thinking that this sounded exactly like the words of someone too powerful to relate—like a rich man telling others that money doesn’t matter.

”Please aid me, senior,” Liu Xi said steadily, bowing once more. His tone was calm, but the determination within it was unmistakable.

”Power breeds desire. Desire knows no end,” the Pure Lotus Demon Saint said solemnly, his tone carrying a warning. ”Those who chase strength without restraint lose sight of the beauty already before them.”

”Senior, you’ve long departed from the mortal world,” Liu Xi replied firmly. ”You can no longer witness the turmoil of the continent. But I am still here—and I need this strength. I ask once more for your aid.”

The blurred figure remained silent for a long time. The mists churned around him, concealing his emotions completely.

”...Very well. Use this strength wisely. Do not fall to evil. And should the day come when I call for your aid, you must not refuse.”

At last, the Pure Lotus Demon Saint yielded. Liu Xi, protected by the Bodhisattva Ancient Tree, could not be subdued by force. To entrust his legacy, he needed Liu Xi’s consent.

Liu Xi pondered briefly, then nodded. ”I promise, Senior.”

The mists swirled once more, and the figure slowly faded away. In his place, a transparent bubble-like sphere remained, floating quietly in the air.

A smile curved Liu Xi’s lips. He leapt lightly, wrapped in sacred light, and reached out to touch the sphere. The instant his fingertip brushed it, the sphere burst apart, releasing streams of brilliant information that flowed directly into his mind.

Great Tragedy Hand... Fire Demon Halberd... Refining Sky Ancient Formation... Nightmare Heavenly Fog... Demonic Flame World Destruction...

The flood of knowledge made Liu Xi’s mind throb painfully. He rubbed his temples, trying to ease the dizzying influx, but a wide grin soon spread across his face—growing brighter by the second.

Then suddenly, a strong pull yanked at him. His robes fluttered wildly as the world spun, and his consciousness was drawn away from the white realm.

When he opened his eyes again, he was back in his spiritual world. The milky-white orb was now silent and still, as though nothing had happened.

Within his mind, ancient techniques and formation scripts unfolded—complex, profound, and boundlessly intricate.

”Bodhisattva Tree, thank you,” Liu Xi said softly.

The tree’s branches swayed gently in response, its leaves whispering in return.

His awareness returned to the real world.

The blazing sun hung high overhead. Waves of blistering heat distorted the air above the endless desert; even space itself seemed to waver.

”Xian’er! Qing Lin!”

Liu Xi’s face changed as soon as he sensed something was wrong. The three of them had entered together, but now Xiao Yixian and Qing Lin were each wrapped in faint, milky-white flames.

”They’ve fallen into illusions...”

Flashing forward, Liu Xi appeared beside Qing Lin. Her delicate face was pale, her expression twisted with fear. The Purifying Demonic Lotus Flame was already flaring from her body.

Recalling the method recorded in the inheritance, Liu Xi raised a hand. Using his finger as a brush and his Spiritual Power as ink, he swiftly drew a glowing spiritual sigil in midair.

”Go!”

The sigil shot toward Qing Lin’s forehead and melted into her soul. Her body trembled violently—and the illusion binding her mind shattered. Liu Xi placed his palm on her shoulder, channeling his azure flame to drive the residual lotus fire from her body.

He then turned to Xiao Yixian, repeating the process—breaking her illusion and purging the Purifying Demonic Lotus Flame.

When both women finally awoke, Liu Xi sighed. ”Didn’t I warn you? Everything you see in there is an illusion. Ignore it, and you’ll be fine.”

Qing Lin’s eyes glistened with tears. ”You don’t want me anymore...” she whispered pitifully.

Xiao Yixian glared at him, cheeks puffed angrily. ”You said I was poisonous...”

Liu Xi: ”???”
