Chapter 2723: Chapter 2724: Teach Those Old Merfolk a Lesson

”Bai, you misunderstand me. I didn’t mean it like that, otherwise, I would have sought you out long ago. Moreover, you couldn’t enter the Main Hall; it’s probably the work of our own people.” The great elder sighed heavily.

”Didn’t you say that there hasn’t been a murder on the Island for many years, and the Merfolk get along well? They shouldn’t be plotting against the third elder, right?”

The great elder sighed again, ”Not necessarily. According to the clan’s rules, once an elder dies, a new person has to be chosen to replace the elder’s position, and the elder has a chance to be released from the Curse.”

”Since the Curse can be lifted, why not lift it for everyone, so no one will scheme for the position?” Bai Ruozhu deliberately said.

”If it were that easy to lift the Curse, I wouldn’t be worried anymore.” The great elder waved his hand, ”Go about your business. I will heed your advice and won’t upset Feng Ran again.”

Bai Ruozhu nodded, ”If you can cooperate, that’s best. I’ll take my leave now.”

...

In the backyard of the Main Hall, the little girl Yunyun was vomiting violently. She gasped for breath and finally couldn’t help but cry.

”I feel terrible. I want to go home. I want my parents.” Yunyun, after all, was a child. When afraid, she cried and yelled loudly.

A loud whip crack sounded, and the whip landed near Yunyun’s feet, making her scream even louder.

”Shut up, or I’ll feed you to the wolves!” the guard shouted fiercely.

”You’re the ones who made me drink the foul-smelling red water that must have gone bad. I’ve had a stomach ache for two days and keep throwing up. I want my mom; can you let me go home to see her?” Yunyun cried.

”No!” The guard whipped again, this time hitting Yunyun’s slender arm. She screamed, rolled up her sleeve, and saw a fresh blood mark.

After the guard left, Yunyun cried with her face buried in her hands. The people here are demons, all evil; she missed home, and she didn’t want to stay here any longer.

...

Near the bamboo house, Feng Cheng caught a sneaky Little Demon, dragging it by the collar to a secluded spot for a conversation.

”Who are you, why are you grabbing me?” Sibao asked angrily.

”I was going to ask where you’re from, sneaking around trying to scheme against my friends?” Feng Cheng retorted.

”My name’s Sibao, I’m a Dream Demon. I don’t harm people. Let me go, I have things to do.” Sibao said.

”I’ll first take you to see someone; she says you’re free when she says so.”

Feng Cheng took Sibao to meet Bai Ruozhu. Bai Ruozhu reluctantly explained, and only then did Feng Cheng release Sibao.

”Master, I found Yunyun. A few days ago, she was forced to drink Merfolk blood. She felt unwell and feverish, just now vomiting heavily. She’s so pitiful, crying for home and her mother. The guards inside don’t comfort her and even whip her.” Sibao said angrily.

Upon hearing this, Bai Ruozhu was also angry, ”She’s just a five-year-old child, and those people are so shameless.”

”I can kill them for you.” Feng Cheng said, getting ready to leave.

Bai Ruozhu hurriedly caught up with him and pulled him back.

”Hold on, lots of things haven’t been figured out yet. If you kill them, we might never find out the truth.” Bai Ruozhu explained.

Feng Cheng nodded, ”Alright, I’ll follow your lead.”

Sibao was somewhat afraid of Feng Cheng and stayed hidden inside Bai Ruozhu’s house all day.

At night, Bai Ruozhu secretly left the bamboo house, heading toward Yuchen Palace.

”Hey, not taking me along?” Feng Cheng suddenly appeared, startling Bai Ruozhu.

She clutched her chest and said, ”You scared me to death; can’t you show up properly?”

”Should I get noticed by the Merfolk, then knock on the door and come on the Island formally?” Feng Cheng said, laughing, ”Haven’t you found a way to save your husband?”

”I found it, but I can’t find the item.”

Speaking, the two had reached the western Beach, Bai Ruozhu stopped, ”You should go back; my Golden Feather can only take me, its master, inside, not you.”

Feng Cheng laughed again, ”I could sneak past the Barrier of Merfolk Island, what is this?”

As they spoke, he had already stepped into Yuchen Palace, Bai Ruozhu hurriedly followed him.

”How’s it? Pretty impressive, right?” Feng Cheng joked.

”You seem more cheerful this time. Is it nice back there for you?” Bai Ruozhu asked.

”Not nice, they always want me dead.” Feng Cheng said casually but didn’t mention who wanted him dead.

Bai Ruozhu entered the main hall of Yuchen Palace, where Jade Dust was talking to Agate inside.

Her complexion wasn’t good, partly due to excessive blood loss and partly due to depression.

”Master Bai, we were also thinking of finding you.” Agate called out happily when she saw Bai Ruozhu.

”Is Master Yuchen okay? Did the great elder trouble you?” Bai Ruozhu asked.

Jade Dust waved her hand, ”No, I’m still useful to them.”

She looked at Feng Cheng, ”And this is?”

”Our support; his strength is formidable, or he wouldn’t have been able to enter the Barrier.” Bai Ruozhu replied.

”Was it him who killed the third elder?” Jade Dust quickly glanced at Feng Cheng; Feng Cheng smiled at her, ”Indeed, it was me.”

Jade Dust burst into laughter, ”Well done, I’ve wanted to kill them for a long time, but I couldn’t even get near them.”

Suddenly, the ground shook beneath their feet, and Jade Dust and Agate’s faces turned as pale as paper, muttering under Agate’s breath, ”Why, why is it awake again?”

Luckily, after that quake, things calmed down with no major movements, perhaps the Giant Turtle just sneezed.

”If they ask for blood again, we’ll all die, and if we don’t die we’ll become the Living Dead.” Jade Dust’s voice had a crying tone.

”Don’t worry, let’s wait and see.” Bai Ruozhu reassured her.

Unfortunately, things didn’t go as wished; soon the ground began shaking again. The Island shook violently, causing Bai Ruozhu to fall backward, and Feng Cheng quickly grabbed her into his arms.

Bai Ruozhu was startled and bounced back after just steadying herself.

”Sorry, I didn’t stand firm just now.” She lowered her head, afraid to look into Feng Cheng’s eyes, fearing his deep affection would make her feel guiltier.

”We’re doomed, the Giant Turtle is moving again; it just slept for a few days, why can’t it sleep longer?” Agate said nervously, starting to mutter to herself.

Jade Dust looked up, ”You all better leave quickly; soon they’ll send people to take me, this time I’m afraid I can’t escape. I only ask that if you come back, take Agate away; this child is pure-hearted and deserves to have her youth.”

”Since things have come to this, let’s clean up those old Merfolk. Whoever wants to kill, I will kill them!” Bai Ruozhu gritted her teeth and said.

Feng Cheng bowed to Bai Ruozhu, ”Just order me; I’m quite good at killing, arson, robbing.”
