Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2717: Chapter 2718: Obtaining the Dragon-seeking Grass

”Although we have to bow to reality, I hope she lives well. Even if I die at thirty, she can live on, watch the sunrise and sunset every day, and just occasionally remember me. But she died just like that!” Wenyu covered his head and wept bitterly.

Bai Ruozhu didn’t know how to comfort him. After he cried for a while, she said, ”Yuchen Palace still needs to offer blood this time, right?”

Wenyu remained silent, appearing even more pained.

”Why do your Merfolk have to rely on others for survival? I can understand your longing for a better life, but I really can’t agree with your actions. Manau was a good girl; she died for her fellow disciples. Do you want to see her sacrifice go to waste? Who knows how many more from Yuchen Palace will die!” Bai Ruozhu said, somewhat exasperated.

”I don’t want this either, but I’m not someone who can speak for the clan,” Wenyu’s emotions somewhat recovered. He wiped his tears with his sleeve, ”And without these, the Merfolk will have to return to the perpetual darkness of the deep sea to live.”

Bai Ruozhu sneered, ”That would still be better than your current existence, neither human nor ghost, not living past thirty, unable to see your children grow up. It’s better to live a tranquil life like ordinary people, holding grandchildren.”

”I...”

Wenyu was at a loss for words. Perhaps returning to the deep sea, but being able to be with his lover, watching their children and grandchildren grow day by day, might also be a kind of happiness.

Bai Ruozhu knew not to say too much at once. She stood up and said, ”Have a good rest. I’m leaving now.”

Wenyu looked up, ”We can go back tomorrow.”

”Did they contact you?” Bai Ruozhu asked in surprise.

Wenyu nodded, ”There is a special way of communication among the Merfolk, at least in these waters, they can contact me.”

”Alright, I’ll go back with you tomorrow,” Bai Ruozhu said.

”Aren’t you afraid I’ll tell the great elder about you?” Wenyu asked.

Bai Ruozhu laughed, ”Afraid of what? If your great elder really falls out with me, I can just kill them all.”

Wenyu’s expression changed dramatically, ”Then you won’t be able to leave these waters alive either.”

Bai Ruozhu chuckled, ”Don’t forget, I’m Jiuli, once the master of the Merfolk. Do you think Jiuli don’t know the Merfolk’s weaknesses? Moreover, I know the Golden Wings Clan.”

Wenyu was even more surprised this time. It wasn’t until Bai Ruozhu left and closed the door that he regained his senses.

Bai Ruozhu informed Xiaoyuan and the others about her plan to return to Merfolk Island and arranged for them to be ready. Perhaps the next time she appeared would be when they set sail to escape.

She was initially worried about the Merfolk’s terrifying Giant Turtle, making it hard to escape, but now she understood that it wasn’t easy to mobilize the Giant Turtle. It required a certain price, nothing less than the blood and lives of the people of Yuchen Palace.

Now that Shanhu and Xuchenzi were not on Merfolk Island, and Yuchen Palace had just offered blood, even if the Merfolk pressed on, they wouldn’t be able to help much.

By midday the next day, the sea was calm, but suddenly giant waves surged, and the Harmony was tossed about in the waves. The sailors on the boat cried out, saying a Sea Monster had appeared.

Fortunately, the sea soon calmed down, and everyone breathed a big sigh of relief.

Elder Ding said with some lingering fear, ”Maybe the Sea Monster was just passing by, having no Malice towards us. The sea is so vast and deep, we can never fully know how terrifying it truly is.”

Wenyu struggled to his feet and took Bai Ruozhu, leaping onto the Whale’s back. After a dizzying ride, the two of them returned to Merfolk Island.

As soon as they landed on the island, Wenyu fainted. His Divine Sense was severely damaged, and after only two days of recovery, he couldn’t hold up after this exertion.

Bai Ruozhu quickly supported him and gave him some calming medicine.

Ling Chen arrived with people, quickly taking Wenyu, and asked, ”What’s wrong with him?”

”Earlier your Barrier fluctuated, and he blocked it for me, injuring his Divine Sense,” Bai Ruozhu said.

Ling Chen’s eyes flashed. Because she didn’t meet Bai Ruozhu’s eyes, it wasn’t very obvious.

”Take the Left Guardian back for a good rest.” She handed him over to her subordinates and then gestured for Bai Ruozhu to follow.

”Have you repaired your Array? It really scared me earlier. Are my subordinates all right?” Bai Ruozhu asked.

Ling Chen smiled, ”They’re fine. We wouldn’t bully them, would we?”

”I don’t know about others, but one look from you would be enough to overwhelm them,” Bai Ruozhu said with a smile.

But Ling Chen sighed, ”I don’t want to have such an ability.”

”Many people can’t even get it; maybe you can learn to control it. Spend more time talking with my maid, Fo Lanying, and perhaps you can find a method that suits you,” Bai Ruozhu said.

”Sure, thank you.”

She took her to the residence, and when Jiang Yichun and they saw her, they were a bit excited. Jiang Yichun almost rushed over to hug her but restrained himself with Ling Chen present.

”Ling Chen, shall we go practice a few moves?” Fo Lanying tactfully led Ling Chen away.

Bai Ruozhu and the others went inside, shared information, and caught up on recent events.

”Aluo is dead.” Bai Ruozhu’s nose felt a bit blocked.

”What?” Jiang Yichun’s heart sank.

”He’s indeed not Fang Qing’s son, but an attendant who left Merfolk Island years ago. His time has come...”

Bai Ruozhu conveyed Aluo’s last words to everyone. Though he may have deceived them, after so long together, everyone felt somewhat saddened.

Jiang Yichun told her about the matters in Yuchen Palace, and Bai Ruozhu decided to visit that evening.

”I’ll go with you,” Jiang Yichun said.

”Okay.”

During dinner, the great elder hosted a banquet to apologize for the Barrier fluctuation and handed the Dragon-seeking Grass over to Bai Ruozhu.

Looking at the Dragon-seeking Grass that looked almost identical to the one Xuchenzi drew, Bai Ruozhu pondered whether Xuchenzi knew the Merfolk had the Dragon-seeking Grass and initially wanted them to find Merfolk Island?

”Thank you, great elder. With the Dragon-seeking Grass, I can finally give the Fusang Emperor an account,” Bai Ruozhu deliberately acted very pleased.

The great elder stroked his snow-white beard, smiling, ”Bai, little friend, you can’t just leave after getting the Dragon-seeking Grass. Don’t forget you promised to treat my wife.”

Bai Ruozhu nodded promptly, ”Rest assured, I am not someone who breaks promises. I’ll leave after my wife’s condition improves.”

The great elder was satisfied, smiling, and toasted her with a drink.

After dinner, Bai Ruozhu returned to the room and chatted with Fo Lanying, mainly conveying Xiaoyuan’s affection for her. Fo Lanying blushed but smiled with happiness.

When the time seemed right, Bai Ruozhu found Jiang Yichun, and they sneaked off to the western beach. Unexpectedly, from a distance, they saw a frail figure waiting there—it was Ayi.
