Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2707: Chapter 2708: Testing Her

Yunyun broke into a smile, ”Then can my parents live a long life?”

”Pretty much.” The great elder’s smile grew wider.

”Thank you, great elder grandpa. I will do my best.” Yunyun waved goodbye to the great elder and ran toward home on her little legs.

The great elder watched her run off, tightened his hold on Feng Ran, and muttered to himself, ”You see how happy she is? I’m not hurting her; I’m helping everyone.”

Bai Ruozhu felt a complexity within her heart; is this considered helping? It’s clearly emotional manipulation of a child.

The great elder held Feng Ran and walked forward slowly, as if wanting to prolong the time.

”After all these years, why can’t you understand my heart? I just want to be with you forever.” He chuckled lowly, ”No matter, even if you hate me for a lifetime, even if you want to bite me to death, as long as I can see you alive and have you by my side, nothing else matters.”

Watching the great elder walk away, Bai Ruozhu saw that no one was around, then exited the space and returned to her residence.

She slipped into Yichun’s room, pulled him in, and brought him into the space.

”How was it?” He knew she had been out.

”I saw Ayi’s child, Yunyun, go to the great elder to ask for help to save her father. She was willing to be the sacred maiden.” Bai Ruozhu recounted what she had just witnessed.

Upon hearing about Feng Ran and Shuangshuang, Jiang Yichun became excited, ”Could it be my mother? She’s still alive?”

Bai Ruozhu couldn’t be certain, afraid of giving him false hope, and said, ”We’ll wait a couple of days and go to Yuchen Palace, or try to secretly meet Feng Ran.”

”Okay.”

Jiang Yichun calmed down a bit and held her hand, ”Seeking my mother is important, but you must be careful. I can’t let you fall into danger.”

Bai Ruozhu nodded, ”Don’t worry, I’ll be extremely cautious.”

Perhaps due to hearing about Chushuang, Jiang Yichun was somewhat distracted, and later Bai Ruozhu found him always lost in thought when she talked to him.

Bai Ruozhu decided not to bother him, thinking it might be good to let him be alone.

She was somewhat worried about the woman’s condition in the cave; just hearing her voice felt her body was in very poor health.

The two stayed in the space until Ling Chen. Only then did Diao Shengyan exit the space and quietly return to her room.

Early next morning, the great elder sent someone to treat Ali, who quickly woke up.

Ayi was exhausted during the day and fell asleep for a while at night, so Yunyun sneaked out while she was asleep and went to make the agreement with the great elder, which left Ayi puzzled.

Although Ali awoke, his mind was not clear, and he kept forgetting things, speaking incoherently.

Clearly, the great elder didn’t want Ali to say anything he shouldn’t.

Ayi understood but had to express profound gratitude to the people sent by the great elder and said she wanted to take Ali to personally kneel and thank the great elder.

However, she was advised against it, saying the great elder was busy and they shouldn’t disturb him.

Bai Ruozhu kept an eye on the situation on the island, and nothing escaped her observation.

Using the opportunity of sightseeing around the island, she learned the location of Duannian’s father’s residence, but daytime action was inconvenient.

That night, the great elder hosted and invited Bai Ruozhu to dinner, saying, ”I won’t hide it, Bai, today I have an unreasonable request.”

”Great elder, feel free to speak. I am here on your island, if I can help, it would be a favor returned.” Bai Ruozhu said.

The great elder laughed heartily, ”You speak so straightforwardly, so I won’t mince words. I hope you can look at my wife Feng Ran’s condition. She’s been ill with hysteria, sometimes well, sometimes not, her emotions uncontrollable.”

Bai Ruozhu waved her hand, ”It’s somewhat embarrassing. Yesterday I treated a male merfolk but didn’t succeed in healing. I thought he wouldn’t wake up, but your island’s doctor cured him, and I felt too embarrassed to show off my medical skills. Perhaps merfolk’s meridians and body conditions are different from ordinary people.”

”It’s not that your medical skills are lacking, as you said, merfolk are different. But my wife has seen every doctor on the island over the years, and there’s been no improvement, so I hope you can help, even a little relief for her suffering would be good.”

Bai Ruozhu thought to herself, the root of her suffering is you; heartache needs Heart Medicine, and with you still causing trouble, how can she not suffer?

What is the great elder’s intention now? Is he not afraid of her treating Feng Ran and Feng Ran revealing some unspeakable secret?

Is he truly considering Feng Ran’s condition or using this to probe her?

”Then I shall do my best to help your wife,” Bai Ruozhu said.

She then instructed Fo Lanying to retrieve her medicine box and followed the great elder to Feng Ran’s dwelling.

Feng Ran didn’t live with the great elder, and he didn’t explain, nor did Bai Ruozhu ask.

”She had a seizure last night and fainted, hasn’t woken yet,” said the great elder.

Bai Ruozhu nodded and went to Feng Ran’s bedside to check her pulse, then asked, ”What are her symptoms when she has a seizure? Are her eyes clear? What’s her complexion? What color are her lips?”

The great elder’s gaze flickered as he recalled and answered one by one.

Bai Ruozhu then checked Feng Ran’s eyelids and suddenly said, ”I remember; I saw her on the first day on the island, she seemed to be having a seizure then?”

”Probably, my poor wife has heartache because she cannot have children. I tried many ways in past years, but none worked.” The great elder said.

Bai Ruozhu showed surprise, ”The great elder has no offspring?”

The great elder nodded, ”It’s embarrassing.”

”The great elder is a man of feelings. In Zhongyuan, if a woman is infertile, most men marry another. Even in our Jiuli Clan, there have been such cases. The great elder’s devotion to your wife is truly admirable,” Bai Ruozhu deliberately showed a look of admiration.

Jiang Yichun and Jianqi, waiting at the back, kept cold expressions but inwardly gave Bai Ruozhu a big thumbs up for her acting skills.

Bai Ruozhu continued checking, then said, ”This is heartache, difficult to treat. Besides acupuncture and medication adjustments, her mood needs improvement, which is what people mean by heartache needing Heart Medicine. I’ll try to administer acupuncture to help calm her emotions, and prescribe some calming medicine.”

The great elder bowed, ”Please, Bai.”

Fo Lanying brought the medical box, and Bai Ruozhu took silver needles to administer acupuncture on Feng Ran. The great elder watched intently; he seemed concerned about his wife’s condition but Bai Ruozhu felt he was more focused on observing her every move.

This old fox is testing her!
