Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2714: Chapter 2715: Caught by Wenyu

Bai Ruozhu thought of Wenyu in the ship cabin and said to Yizi, ”You all wait here, I’ll go check on Wenyu.”

Yizi quickly nodded, ”Yes, don’t let him find out.”

Bai Ruozhu left the room and quietly entered Wenyu’s room. Wenyu was breathing evenly and sleeping soundly.

She went over and pressed his sleep acupuncture point, then left the room and said to Yizi, ”We can start now.”

Aluo’s body was carried out. He had been changed into clean clothes, and his appearance was tidied; his body was sprinkled with some dried petals.

These petals were made by the girls in Fusang on Bai Ruozhu’s request. There are no flowers at sea, which girls find dull, but carrying some dried flowers allows them to enjoy the fragrance and use them as decoration.

Now they served even more purposes.

Sa Tian stayed by Aluo’s side, reciting scriptures in a low voice, while Yuan Licheng applied something to his forehead one last time.

He nodded to Bai Ruozhu, ”It’s done.”

Bai Ruozhu felt a pain in her heart, ”Let him return to the sea.”

Aluo’s body was placed into a small boat. The small boat was lowered to the sea, and Xiaoyuan gently lifted his body, placed it on the water, and it slowly submerged, finally disappearing from sight.

Xiaoyuan jumped back on the deck and said to Bai Ruozhu, ”I added sinking power to the array so that the body won’t float up.”

”You are really thoughtful.” Bai Ruozhu realized Xiaoyuan is actually a very gentle person, seeing how he handled Aluo’s sea burial.

Whether it was the buzzing of the giant turtle or pure exhaustion, she felt a throbbing pain in her temples.

She rubbed her temples and was about to return to her room when she turned her head slightly, noticing someone standing not far away, staring at her intently.

She paused, her brows tightly knit together.

But she still stepped forward and asked, ”Aren’t you afraid that I might kill you to keep the secret?”

Wenyu sneered, ”You won’t. If I die, you won’t find Merfolk Island. You can’t abandon your people.”

Bai Ruozhu squinted her eyes, ”How did you wake up?”

”If you hadn’t bothered to press my sleep acupuncture point, I wouldn’t have known what you were doing. But I was born special; my acupuncture points can move on their own, so you couldn’t press my sleep point.” Wenyu lifted his chin with a hint of pride.

Bai Ruozhu was silent, realizing that her over-cautiousness had backfired.

”So what do you want by standing here? To threaten me or to make some conditions?” she asked.

”I just want to know the truth. Maybe I would keep your secret.” He replied.

Bai Ruozhu’s mind raced. Wenyu was in his twenties, and might not have been born or was very young when Aluo left Merfolk Island, and probably didn’t know him; she couldn’t let him get any information from her.

”You should see for yourself; he died naturally at thirty,” Bai Ruozhu said.

”Then why hide it from me? His identity isn’t that simple, right?” Wenyu narrowed his eyes.

Bai Ruozhu snorted coldly, ”I heard that there are ways on Merfolk Island for Merfolk to live past thirty. I have several Merfolk under me, and I said I would help them find a way to break the curse. But if I stated my purpose from the start, you wouldn’t let me on the island, would you? But seeing that not many in your tribe live past thirty, maybe you don’t have a chance either? If I let you know my purpose and you find out I brought a Merfolk close to thirty, wouldn’t that be trouble?”

Bringing up this troublesome topic, Wenyu frowned, ”Yes, right now I am not eligible to break the curse, but I don’t believe your purpose is that simple.”

”Since we’ve laid things bare, I won’t hide it anymore. I want to find a Dragon-seeking Grass, and also seek a way for Merfolk to live past thirty. Whether you believe it or not is up to you.” She finished speaking and walked straight to her room without paying any more attention to Wenyu.

The door opened, and she had just stepped one foot out when Wenyu caught up and shouted, ”I advise you not to have that thought, you will regret knowing too much!”

”The great elders can break the curse and live past thirty, so why can’t the rest of you? Why can’t I know?” Bai Ruozhu turned back and questioned.

Wenyu showed a pained expression, ”How would I know? If I knew, I could have saved my parents!”

Bai Ruozhu sighed, turned into the room, and shut the door heavily.

Early next morning, Bai Ruozhu got up for breakfast, feeling the headache was much better.

She felt somewhat annoyed with Wenyu and didn’t want to check on him, so she asked Wa Wei to look after him since Wa Wei had also learned some medical skills.

Before Bai Ruozhu finished breakfast, Wa Wei hurried over, saying, ”Master, you’d better go take a look. That Merfolk is in bad shape, his face is pale, and he’s talking nonsense.”

Bai Ruozhu immediately stood up, ”Does he have a fever?”

”No fever, I can’t find the cause,” Wa Wei shamefully admitted.

Once inside the room, Bai Ruozhu was startled. Wenyu’s forehead was sweaty, his face wasn’t just pale, but had a greenish tint, and his lips were bloodless.

She quickly went over to feel his pulse, ”He has damage to his divine sense, it’s normal you couldn’t detect it.”

”What should we do? Will he die?” Wa Wei asked.

”He won’t die, but he might become a fool.” Bai Ruozhu frowned. If Wenyu became foolish, they might lose contact with Merfolk Island, and with the vast sea, what if Merfolk Island couldn’t be found for a while? She wasn’t reassured with Achun and others trapped on the island.

Besides, if Wenyu hadn’t protected her yesterday, she might be the one suffering now. She’s a person who distinguishes clearly between gratitude and grudges, and she absolutely wants to save Wenyu.

She quickly took out the silver needles and began the insertion, each needle puncturing Wenyu’s head with precision, while Wa Wei watched nervously, wondering if it was okay to insert so many needles in someone’s head.

After completing a set of needlework, Wenyu’s lips showed a hint of blood, but cold sweat still beaded on his forehead.

”Father, I will save you, I will definitely save you!”

”No, no, Manau, you mustn’t bleed anymore, you’ll die!”

”Why can’t I marry her? She lives on the island too, what’s the difference with us?”

Wenyu muttered intermittently, his voice light, but Bai Ruozhu’s keen hearing picked it all up.

She had a general guess in her mind. Wenyu once had a lover named Manau, judging by the name, she should be of the same generation as Feicui, Shanhu, and should be from Yuchen Palace!

Because people from Yuchen Palace aren’t Merfolk, their love faced great obstacles, and it’s highly likely Manau is already deceased.

Also, the bleeding, it seems the Merfolk were using people from Yuchen Palace to complete some kind of bloodletting ritual.

Thinking of Shanhu’s reluctance to speak out, and the prohibitions placed on Yuchen Palace disciples, the Merfolk not only keep them as servants but also cruelly control and exploit them!
