Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2710: Chapter 2711: Leaving the Island

The information brought by Sibao basically confirms that Fang Luo is hiding something, but Bai Ruozhu is still unsure of Fang Luo’s intentions, and even more unsure if he could impact everyone.

”Sibao, just stay in the room and don’t run around. If caught by the Merfolk, I won’t be able to save you.” Bai Ruozhu lightly tapped its head with her finger.

Why use ”it”? Because you can’t tell Sibao’s gender yet, even it hasn’t decided.

”Alright, I won’t be naughty.” It said, sticking out its tongue.

Fo Lanying also liked Sibao quite a bit; the two played in the room for a while, while Bai Ruozhu went to Jiang Yichun’s room to tell him the news Sibao brought.

”So are you saying Fang Luo really has a problem?” Jiang Yichun frowned, ”Could he be the one who damaged our ship earlier?”

”Not necessarily. I want to talk to the great elder and go out for a bit,” Bai Ruozhu replied, ”I’ll just say—.

”Just you?” Jiang Yichun was a bit worried.

Bai Ruozhu smiled, ”Why can’t you seem to stay away from me at all now? I’ll be back soon, no more than half a day.”

Jiang Yichun’s smile was a bit rakish, ”Right, I can’t be without you for even a moment.”

Bai Ruozhu’s ears turned a bit hot; she initially wanted to tease this man, but his charming smile ended up making her blush instead.

She quickly changed the subject, ”I’ll just say I need to go out and get some medicine to treat Feng Ran. I think he won’t object to that, besides, I’m here as a guest, not a prisoner. Why wouldn’t he let me out?”

”That’s also good, but just be cautious with Fang Luo. He doesn’t have much time left, and I’m afraid he might...” He paused, ”act out in desperation.”

”I understand,” Bai Ruozhu said.

The next day, Bai Ruozhu went again to check on Feng Ran. This time, Feng Ran hadn’t woken up yet, not because of normal sleep but due to a post-psychotic slumber.

She didn’t use needles to wake Feng Ran up and told Wenyu who accompanied her, ”Madam Feng Ran needs to rest well, so I won’t wake her up.”

”Thank you, Bai, for your efforts,” Wenyu said.

”Madam Feng Ran’s mind is unsettled; she’ll need medicine to calm her down. I have some on the boat, so I’ll go out today to retrieve it,” Bai Ruozhu said.

Wenyu’s eyes slightly flickered, ”How could I trouble you to go personally, Bai? Maybe you could send an attendant instead?”

”Going in and out doesn’t take much effort, and they wouldn’t know where the medicine is if they messed it up, what then?” Bai Ruozhu’s face turned cold. With these Merfolk, you had to put on airs, or else they’d take advantage.

The greater airs you put on, the more they respected you, as if thinking you held significant status, deserving of airs.

Really exhausting!

”To activate the barrier, we must inform the elders. I’ll go notify the great elder for you, Bai,” Wenyu said.

”Thank you, Left Guardian,” she replied casually with a bow. While she expressed gratitude, her demeanor was quite offhand.

Wenyu had no choice but to bring her out of Feng Ran’s room and went to the Main Hall to report to the great elder.

”Anything unusual with her in the past two days?” the great elder asked.

”Those watching her haven’t noticed anything. She just mentioned the Dragon-seeking Grass matter to me today,” Wenyu reported.

The great elder nodded, ”Her seeking help from us is good; it’s worrisome if she seeks nothing. Is she going out alone or bringing someone with her?”

”She didn’t mention, but judging from her tone, she’s going to retrieve the medicine by herself, so she probably isn’t planning to run away,” Wenyu said.

”Without the Dragon-seeking Grass, she won’t run away.” The great elder waved his hand, ”Open the barrier and send her out. Be careful bringing her back, don’t let her bring back any nonsense.”

”Understood,” Wenyu bowed and left.

After lunch, he went to see Bai Ruozhu, telling her the great elder agreed to open the barrier and expressed his thanks.

”Healing and saving people is my duty as a doctor; I don’t dare accept the great elder’s thanks,” she replied.

Wenyu praised her a few more times, then led her out along the incoming path, still riding the whale’s back to the outside.

Bai Ruozhu realized she was still in the same place after going out; the Giant Turtle carrying the Island hadn’t moved an inch.

”How long will you need, Bai?” Wenyu asked.

”I need to fetch some things and arrange matters on the boat, about two hours,” Bai Ruozhu said.

Wenyu nodded, ”Then I’ll head back first and come pick you up in two hours.”

”Alright, thank you.”

Bai Ruozhu boarded the Harmony, and the ship workers on the deck respectfully saluted her. She had treated them for conjunctivitis without regard for rank, earning genuine respect from these ship workers and sailors.

But in Wenyu’s eyes, it was somewhat different. He felt more strongly about Bai Ruozhu’s noble status, which led to such respect from those below.

After Wenyu left, Bai Ruozhu entered the ship cabin, greeting those who stayed behind.

Sa Tian nodded slightly upon seeing her, ”Did you come back alone, Bai?”

”I’m just here to gather some things; I’ll be leaving again in a bit,” she said.

Shanhu looked at her nervously, seemingly wanting to say something but not daring to. Bai Ruozhu noticed everything, feeling suddenly sentimental; her ship harbored many secrets. Everyone had secrets, yet she never knew.

Bai Ruozhu gave a few brief instructions, then suggested checking Shanhu’s pulse and accompanied her back to her room.

”Qiu Zhi, go fetch some hot tea,” Bai Ruozhu intended to send Qiu Zhi away.

”Master, didn’t you say pregnant women shouldn’t drink tea?” Qiu Zhi said foolishly.

Bai Ruozhu glared fiercely, ”It’s for me. I’m thirsty. Is your mind now full of Shanhu that you can’t even pour a cup of tea for me?”

Qiu Zhi shrank back, ”I’ll go right away.”

He ran off, while Bai Ruozhu turned to Shanhu, Shanhu’s face slightly blushed, but the sweetness in her eyes was hard to hide.

”I know everything. I saw people from Yuchen Palace and know they’re watching over a woman,” Bai Ruozhu said straightforwardly.

Shanhu’s face turned pale instantly, ”You...you won’t blame me, right?”

”You have your reasons; you didn’t deceive me, nor did you harm me. There’s nothing to blame.” Though Bai Ruozhu said this, her tone was somewhat distant.

Shanhu felt uneasy, ”Be extra careful. The Merfolk mustn’t find out; otherwise, they’d do anything. That woman is the most impressive; she’s really miserable.”

She realized she spoke out of turn and hurriedly covered her mouth.

Bai Ruozhu didn’t want to make things difficult, merely nodded, ”I’ll be careful, but find a chance to talk to Qiu Zhi. If you’re not comfortable speaking, we can do it for you.”

Shanhu bit her lip, ”I, I’ll think about it.”

Bai Ruozhu stood up, ”Take good care of yourself and consider moving to another boat. If I had known this earlier, I wouldn’t have let you come. Being so close, if the Merfolk find you, your child will...”
