Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2716: Chapter 2717: Wenyu and Manaos

”Do you have something to discuss?” Feicui asked cautiously.

Jiang Yichun glanced at her indifferently, ”Rare for you to not have something for us? You promised someone, after all.”

Feicui looked surprised, ”How do you know?”

As soon as she asked, she regretted it, fearing she’d been led into a trap.

”Don’t worry, we’re not here to trap you. If we didn’t know this much, we wouldn’t have sought you out carelessly.” Jiang Yichun said again.

Feicui hesitated, ”But she asked me to find Master Bai.”

Jiang Yichun lowered his voice, ”You can tell me, too. I’m her husband.”

Feicui’s eyes widened, ”How is that possible! Aren’t you her attendant? How can a Merfolk marry a Jiuli?”

”The restriction is only on Merfolk Island. Outside, there aren’t so many rules. We just don’t want those old geezers to suspect anything, so we hid our relationship.” Jiang Yichun replied.

The Astrologer also spoke, ”Not long ago, we met Elder Xuchenzi in Fusang. She’s still in the Fusang Imperial Palace. We know people from Yuchen Palace, so we didn’t want to hide anything from you.”

”Aren’t you afraid I’ll tell the Merfolk elders?” Feicui asked.

Jiang Yichun sneered, ”What good would that do you?”

Feicui paused, ”Alright, someone wants you to take away the great elder’s wife, Feng Ran. I don’t know how you found out, maybe Feng Ran spoke to Master Bai. We can help you; at least we from Yuchen Palace know more about Merfolk Island than ordinary Merfolk.”

”What is it that you seek? I assume there’s no such thing as free help?” Jiang Yichun asked.

”You should know what they’ve been doing just now, right?” Feicui bit her lip, thinking it didn’t matter to speak more since they’re caught anyway, ”We are controlled and used, having no freedom of our own, many die from blood flow or exhaustion. We don’t want to continue like this, we hope you can get us out.”

Jiang Yichun and the Astrologer exchanged glances; taking one person is not difficult, but to save everyone from Yuchen Palace is too hard.

”As far as I know, you have restrictions placed on you. Even if we could get you out, can you really survive?” Jiang Yichun asked.

Feicui’s face turned pale, ”We might as well take a gamble since it’s certain death anyway. We might quickly find a way to break the restrictions on us.”

Jiang Yichun thought for a moment and said, ”Okay, I promise you, we’ll do our best to help you, but if it exceeds our capability, we won’t risk our own lives.”

”I understand, I’ll go back for now. Master Bai can return within three days, if she has a plan, she’ll come find us.” Feicui said, then hurriedly left.

Jiang Yichun felt reassured in his heart; it seemed the Giant Turtle would return to its original place within three days.

The two returned to their residence and discussed the matter with others.

”I didn’t expect the Merfolk to be using the blood of people from Yuchen Palace to control the Giant Turtle. Yuchen Palace is basically the turtle’s fodder.” The Astrologer said with some emotion.

Fo Lanying frowned upon hearing this, ”Shanhu is so pitiful, we must find a way to help her.”

After some discussion among the group, it mainly came down to waiting for Bai Ruozhu to return before making a decision.

In the cave of Yuchen Palace’s secret realm, Feicui went to see the sickly woman. With red eyes, she said, ”I’ve already spoken to the Jiuli, but for some reason, they already knew your request.”

The woman was stunned, as if she had realized something.

”My master and the others gave blood today, if it happens again, I’m afraid my master...” Feicui couldn’t continue.

The woman sighed softly, ”Go take care of her, I won’t be in trouble for now.”

Feicui bowed and left, the woman watching her back, sighed again, and muttered to herself, ”Did I make a mistake?”

She suddenly laughed, ”So the one who broke in that day was her, had I known, I wouldn’t have stopped her.”

It turns out the sword qi restriction in the cave was set by the woman’s mental will, only allowing Feicui to enter because she didn’t want to see the great elder and others.

Unbeknownst to her, Bai Ruozhu had broken in; the woman didn’t notice at the time but realized it later. However, Bai Ruozhu had already escaped, so the woman thought it was a Jiuli elder or someone else from Yuchen Palace and didn’t think much of it.

Just now, hearing Feicui say the Jiuli already knew her intentions, she recalled the incident.

”That Jiuli girl is indeed impressive, perhaps she is the savior sent by heaven.” The woman mumbled.

...

Two days later, Wenyu’s condition had improved significantly; he could sit up, eat, and speak, but was still too weak to walk.

Bai Ruozhu’s divine sense had also somewhat recovered. She found an opportunity to talk to Wenyu alone.

”You mentioned a name while you were unconscious,” she said.

Wenyu’s expression changed, ”I was talking nonsense, don’t pay attention to it.”

”I’ve told you all about my mission, why are you hiding anything?” Bai Ruozhu slowly uttered two words, ”Manao.”

In an instant, Wenyu’s face turned paler, and his body shook. Evidently, this name had a profound impact on him.

”She was from Yuchen Palace, your clan doesn’t allow you to love each other, right?” Bai Ruozhu didn’t give him a chance to catch his breath and continued to ask.

The string in Wenyu’s heart suddenly snapped, his shoulders slumped weakly, and his body trembled slightly as if he was crying.

Bai Ruozhu felt a twinge of guilt, wondering if she was being too cruel.

”She’s already dead, knowing this or not doesn’t matter.” Wenyu said, choking with emotion.

Bai Ruozhu remained silent, knowing that he would continue to speak now that he had started, bottling it up for too long.

”I didn’t expect you to know about Yuchen Palace too. You came prepared. Yes, she was from Yuchen Palace. Yuchen Palace doesn’t allow its disciples to marry, and Merfolk are forbidden from marrying outsiders. We were destined to be apart. Yet, even knowing it was impossible, we couldn’t resist falling for each other.”

Wenyu’s tears fell, but they didn’t turn into pearls as the legend suggests.

”We thought of many ways. We even considered escaping Merfolk Island. But back then, even if the Holy Maiden and her brother were powerful, the Holy Maiden was still captured and brought back. How could we, with our modest abilities, manage to escape alive?” Wenyu gave a wry smile, ”Eventually, we had to face reality and tried to forget each other with painful effort. But...”

His emotions intensified as he clenched the blanket tightly, tearing it with his grip.

”The clan has long demanded blood from Yuchen Palace, this was not the first. That year, something went wrong; they were repeatedly forced to give blood. Xuchenzi was nearly drained to the root, and some of the younger disciples might not survive another bloodletting.”

”Manao had the kindest heart. She secretly took on the burden alone. By the time I found out, it was too late. The bloodletting at Yuchen Palace isn’t just a simple extraction, it’s a sacrifice, offering not only blood but also essence and life force. She died in that sacrifice.”
