Rebirth: General, Don't Mess Around!

The entire rescue process affected the emotions of everyone present. The villagers saw soldiers who looked even younger than their children and grandchildren carrying heavy mud bricks with their bare hands. They saw them using their shoulders to carry the fallen beams. Their faces were covered in mud. The rain couldn’t wash their faces clean.

”Pull! One, two, three… Pull!”

”Dig up all the mud bricks at the top! Bring a piece of waterproof cloth over to shelter the children from the rain!”

”The two of you, move the mud bricks on the cabinet! The two of you, pick them up below! Villagers, thank you for helping us move the mud bricks away!”

The clear voice of the female soldier, who had been standing at the top and moving the mud bricks, penetrated the rain curtain. Every word floated into everyone’s ears clearly. She was very calm and didn’t panic at all. She was the only one commanding the entire event location. Everyone listened to her command. No one would make decisions on their own.

At this moment, the village official was cooperating with Ye Jian outside. He took the mud bricks from above and threw them to the side. Everyone was working hard to save the two children.

The grandmother, who was rescued, was carried by a student and a villager. They shone their flashlights on the road and walked quickly toward a neighbor’s house.

The old woman, who was bleeding profusely, kept talking about her two grandsons. One moment, she was talking about her eldest grandson. The next moment, she was talking about her younger grandson. The low cries of pain made the students carrying her cry.

”Don’t worry. We’re here. With us around, we’ll definitely save the two children. Don’t worry.” The student comforted her in a calm voice. He was afraid that the old woman wouldn’t understand, so he enunciated the words very slowly.

Holding an umbrella and a flashlight, the villager said, ”That’s right, that’s right. Don’t worry. The two children are lucky enough to meet these soldiers. Don’t worry, we’ll definitely be able to save them.”

The old woman didn’t know how to speak Mandarin. Her accent was heavy as she spoke intermittently. The student who was carrying her could vaguely hear her say ’thank you’.

When the grandmother was placed in the neighbor’s house, Ye Jian had already jumped into the pit. She was already holding the small hand that was exposed outside the cabinet. Her fingers pressed on the thin wrist, and the pulse seemed to penetrate her body. p

The child was fine!

The child was fine!

Now, they needed to lift the collapsed cabinet. Besides Xu Wen, who was standing at the periphery and staring at the broken wall, the five students were all standing on the mud bricks. They sped up and moved the mud bricks around the cabinet away.

No one spoke. They could only bury their heads in their task. They were all focused on the small hand under the cabinet. The grandmother had said that the two children were hiding in the cabinets. It just depended on which cabinet it was.

Finally, the mud bricks around the cabinet were moved away. Then, they used their bare hands to dig away the pieces of mud that were formed by the rainwater. It was finally time to lift the cabinet.

Ye Jian held the small hand that was a little cold from the rain. She laid down and used the flashlight to look at the corner of the closet.

With this look, Ye Jian finally understood why there was an empty corner in the cabinet.

That was because the child’s grandpa had used his body to block the cabinet. The mud bricks had stopped the cabinet from pressing down. Hence, it formed a gap between the two.

”Lift the cabinet. One, two, three! One, two, three!”
