Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 838: Chapter 812: Earth-Shattering News and the Truth of the Matter

Chen Xiaoqian had already made up her mind. When the teacher asked her, she would gravely tell the teacher that during this treatment, she let personal emotions guide her, felt sympathy for the poor family, and thus needed time to restore her mental state, which was why she missed Mr. Qio— the teacher surely wouldn’t punish her.

Qian adjusted her glasses and smiled like a sly fox.

Mr. Qio observed her reaction, amused.

”Chen Xiaoqian.”

”Hmm?”

”Your performance today was satisfactory.”

What nonsense, Qian glared at him. What’s this guy rambling about again?

No matter what, she should leave quickly, to avoid running into that professor.

Outside, Qian found a spa and had a good massage to relax. When she finally thought of turning on her phone, a flurry of messages came pouring in, mostly from Da Yi, and one from Mr. Liu.

Qian opened Mr. Liu’s message, which was a passionate sentence: Good job, the industry has high hopes for future leaders. Keep up the good work!

Huh?

Did the teacher quickly find out she went to do some good deeds like Lei Feng today? It must be that the dean informed the teacher. Seems the teacher is no longer angry about her running away. Qian let out a breath of relief, finally dodging the matter.

Repeatedly standing up that ghost professor, surely this so-called authority should be fed up and abandon her, right?

That would be ideal.

Qian felt she had solved a major issue, cheerfully called Da Yi.

”Qian! Where have you been? Your phone never seemed to work!”

”I was out, is the lecture over?”

”Yes! It was amazing, but not Mr. Qio himself, it was his assistant physician who is also his protege, a postdoc, gave the talk— it was superb.” Da Yi had taken down all the notes, eager to share them with Qian.

”It’s great you learned something. When will you be off work?”

”Already off work, Ye Daqian didn’t show up at the agreed time, so I’m free to leave.”

”Then come to the pedestrian street, let’s go shopping.”

A few minutes later, Da Yi arrived, and Qian took her to the bookstore. Da Yi, surprised, saw all the pregnancy-related books Qian was picking out.

”You’re planning to have a baby?”

”Yes.” Qian felt she had resolved the issue of choosing a doctoral advisor, so the next step was to happily have a child with Xiaoqiang.

”What about your studies—”

”No rush, life is about letting things happen naturally. Shall we have barbecue later?”

Somehow, at the mention of barbecue, Da Yi felt a bit nauseous and shook her head.

”I want something lighter.”

”Alright, let’s have vegetarian food. I’m in a good mood today, my treat~”

Eating alone is dull, Qian wanted to gather some friends, but after calling around, everyone was unavailable.

Shi Touyu returned home after graduation and planned to get married in the summer. Qian would have to attend.

Liumei was inseparable from Fugui now, in a sweet phase, unlikely to come out. Qian thought of calling Qiuqiu, but his phone was unreachable and said it was out of service, Qian was unsure what he was up to.

Just after sitting down at the Vegetarian Restaurant, before ordering, Qian received a call from Bai Jin.

”Qian, there’s something to tell you. Weren’t we planning to go karaoke?”

”Yes, but my voice has some issues now, maybe we’ll have to wait—”

”It’s not about waiting, Qian! The online friend you introduced might be in trouble!”

”What?!” Qian became serious.

The friend she introduced— wasn’t it Qiuqiu?

”I messaged him, but he didn’t respond. I called the number he gave, but it’s turned off!”

”You exchanged numbers?”

”Yes, two days ago, we were planning to meet. But when I called yesterday, midway through the conversation, the call was cut off.”

Thinking it was a family issue, Bai Jin didn’t continue chatting, but when trying to call later that night, it was unavailable.

Bai Jin left messages on q, ”I am a little ball”’s avatar was always grey.

The phone consistently unresponsive, Bai Jin found it odd, prompted her to seek out Qian.

”Could Qiuqiu have gone home with his dad?” Da Yi overheard and couldn’t help but speculate.

”Impossible, we were supposed to meet this morning, he was going to go shopping with me. Qiuqiu isn’t one to break promises; I know him.” Despite her usual disdain for men, Bai Jin somehow didn’t dislike this ”man” with the username ”I am a little ball,” their chats had gone quite well.

”We are at the Vegetarian Restaurant now, come over here and I’ll take you to Qiuqiu’s place.”

Qian also sensed something amiss and acted immediately.

Bai Jin arrived on her little motorcycle in minutes, looking deeply worried.

Despite never meeting face to face, after chatting for so long, there had been bonds formed; Bai Jin felt there was something wrong, vaguely sensing Qiuqiu had gotten into trouble.

Qian asked her to park the motorcycle in front of the restaurant and drove Da Yi and Bai Jin to the place Qiuqiu rented.

They knocked at the door for a long time, but no one answered.

Then, just as they were feeling at a loss, a middle-aged man came upstairs, and seeing them, he paused in surprise.

”Who are you looking for?”

”We are looking for Qiuqiu.” Qian noted his resemblance to Qiuqiu, guessing he must be a relative.

”Qiuqiu, ah, he was taken by my elder brother to the South. You can come back to find him in a month.”

The man was Qiuqiu’s uncle, who came following orders to check the place, worrying about appliances left on due to the hurried departure, and to turn off the water taps.

”South?!”

Qian was taken aback.

Could it be that Qiuqiu was forcibly taken by his father to that so-called gender identity correction institution?!

If true, then things were very complicated and incredibly hard to deal with!

”As his friends, you should know Xiao Miqiu is a girl, right? But she always thinks of herself as a man, wears men’s clothes, behaving chaotically daily. My elder brother is worried sick and took him home for treatment.”

”Is it home treatment or sent to a facility for treatment?” Qian inquired further.

”Initially wanted to send to a professional place, but it’s fully booked with no appointments available, so my brother sought a foreign therapist for a plan. They’ve bought equipment for home treatment.”

Equipment?

The mention of equipment shocked Qian.

”Which country’s therapist did you find?” Qian asked again.

The uncle mentioned a place, and Qian paled.

That country’s psychiatry is notorious globally for its unreliability! Full of nonsense remedies that don’t work, like shamans expelling demons for depression treatment, or ice hammering heads for homosexuality! It’s a country with very backward psychiatric practices, how could he find a ”therapist” there?!

Qian guessed Qiuqiu surely didn’t want to go, so his father must have used force, perhaps with a couple of burly family members to knock Qiuqiu out and tie him up or trick him into going home!

”Qian, the Qiuqiu you mentioned, could he be—” Bai Jin seemed to grasp something.

Qian solemnly nodded. ”Xiao Miqiu is ’I am a little ball’.”

”What?!” Bai Jin was enormously shocked.

She hadn’t imagined the little brother she got along with so well was that man she once looked down on!

And... he was actually a woman?!
