Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 828: Chapter 802: Pampered to the Clouds, Shoulder to Shoulder

Watching her being taken hostage by a madman was devastating for Yu Minglang. He still couldn’t believe he’d managed to rescue her. She was now alive and nestled in his arms. How could she feel so small when he held her? This little woman occupied his entire heart; he almost lost her.

This fear tormented Yu Minglang; he didn’t want her to see his useless side. If he had noticed that madman a second earlier, would Qian have been spared?

Initially, Qian tried to push him away, comfort him, and tell him she was fine. But sensing him trembling slightly, her heart softened, and she embraced him like a baby, gently patting his back to soothe him.

After an unknown period, Yu Minglang finally let her go and, with a nasal voice, said to her.

”I’m sorry, Mei, for making you suffer. I’m useless. If I had acted when he lunged, you wouldn’t have suffered.”

Qian felt a pang in her heart from his words, yet she was also frustrated.

So she mouthed to him, ”Are you silly? If they hadn’t acted and you did, would it be the same?”

If he’d acted, that would have been rescuing a hostage. Acting without provocation would be intentional harm.

Yu Minglang wasn’t joking. If there were a way for Mei to avoid suffering and danger, he’d rather put himself in harm’s way.

When the doctor said that if they hadn’t rescued her promptly, Qian’s brain might have been damaged, Yu Minglang almost wished he could strangle himself.

Seeing Yu Minglang clenching his lips in silence, Qian was heartbroken. She touched his face, looking at her Xiaoqiang, frightened.

I’m proud of you; you’re my husband who saved me. Without you, I would have been in real danger. Don’t say you’re useless; you’re the best man in the world.

Qian mouthed these words to him, making Yu Minglang feel emotional, believing he didn’t deserve being called the best man by her.

Yu Minglang felt guilty towards Qian and was downcast all day. He took care of Qian meticulously but didn’t dare look at her; he always turned his back to her. He’d only turn around when Qian needed him. Qian knew it wasn’t because he disliked her unsightly strangulation marks but because he couldn’t bear to see the wounds on her neck, feeling guilty each time he saw them.

Ah, what do you call this—a post-traumatic psychological disorder? Definitely a psychological shadow.

Qian felt sorry for Yu Minglang’s self-blame, so she pulled him over, forcibly hugged him, and they sat side by side. If he tried to leave, she’d wrap her arms around his waist.

Only by giving him warmth to show she was still there, that she’d recover soon, Yu Minglang’s guilt might lessen a bit.

Qian actually felt she could be discharged; her throat would heal with rest. Why insist on staying in the hospital? But Yu Minglang wasn’t reassured, insisting on hospitalization for observation, worried about brain damage.

Qian also wanted to ask about the madman’s situation. But seeing Yu Minglang’s remorseful face, she held back and decided to wait until she’d fully recovered to ask him.

After observation overnight, the doctor confirmed Qian was fine and could be discharged. Qian hadn’t woke yet; she’d be discharged after waking.

Yu Minglang went to get breakfast and ran into Mr. Yu, Mrs. Yu, his elder brother, sister-in-law, and Big Yan upon returning.

If Yu and Mr. Yu weren’t away and Mr. Yu wasn’t called away to fly, they’d have come too. It was a major family matter.

”How is Qian now?” Mr. Yu asked.

”She’s fine now. Her throat is still hurt, but the doctor said she could be discharged.”

”You brat! Dared to complain to your mother, what did I say to you? Did I say you were wrong? I didn’t say anything and you complained!” Mr. Yu raised his hand, about to smack Yu Minglang, but Mrs. Yu quickly blocked him.

”Say another word about our son and I’ll beat you, old man.”

”I’m unconvinced even if you beat me.” Yu Minglang had no energy for anything now; his heart was with the little woman in that hospital room.

Mr. Yu, annoyed by his stubborn ignorance, grumbled, ”You brat!”

No one cared if this brat complained. He only bothered feeling that this brat complained to his wife, causing him to be nagged!

Qian woke at this moment and saw Mr. Yu about to hit Yu Minglang, so she rushed over to shield him.

She couldn’t speak but her anxious eyes clearly pleaded for Mr. Yu not to hit Yu Minglang again.

Xiaoqiang had been self-blaming for her injury for so long; she refused to see Xiaoqiang hurt again.

Upon seeing Qian’s neck, Mrs. Yu’s tears fell instantly, holding Qian’s hand tightly and crying.

”My poor Qian, how did this happen to you?”

Both sister-in-law and Big Yan were anxious too; the neck looked terrifying.

Qian hurriedly mouthed to Yu Minglang to tell everyone it was okay, but Yu Minglang hung his head low, ”It’s my fault; I didn’t take good care of her.”

Qian felt like going mad, ahhhhhh, why again?

One over-reactive Xiaoqiang was enough to give Qian a headache, now a crowd of troublemakers was overwhelming!

”Why can’t she talk? Let’s go to the capital, huh, Yu, let’s find someone, have a good look.” Mrs. Yu was frantic, watching a good daughter-in-law about to have a wedding banquet suddenly injured?

”Alright, bringing her for a check-up would put me at ease too.” Yu Minglang cooperated, but Qian couldn’t take it, so she started searching Big Yan’s bag, knowing he had a habit of carrying a notebook, learned from her, and quickly wrote on paper. The doctor said there’s not much issue with her throat; it’d be fine in two days, give it rest, and it’d be fine, no need to fuss.

”No, let’s do a full check-up.” Yu Minglang was always uneasy about Qian.

Left with no choice, Qian pleaded with her mother-in-law and sister-in-law, writing a long string.

As professional doctors, they should understand these medical facts more clearly and avoid panic. It’s really frightening when someone can’t awaken from suffocation. Now she’s awake and fine, don’t panic anymore.

Finally managing to persuade everyone, Qian avoided the ordeal of being transported to the capital for a check-up. It was unnecessary; she’d recover in two days. So many people causing a fuss wasn’t worth the trouble.

After completing discharge procedures, the group headed to Qian’s new home. Yu Minglang wasn’t comfortable leaving Qian outside, fearing for her safety. But upon pushing the door open and seeing the newly refurbished home, Yu Minglang was filled with emotion once more.
