Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 810: Chapter 784: Aesthetic Taste Always Follows Dad

”What?” Qian picked up her teacup, crossed her legs, and sipped her tea while reading.

”She said she just got married, and on their wedding night, her husband got several of his colleagues to, um... take turns with her!”

”Pfft!” Qian spewed tea everywhere and hurriedly wiped her book with a tissue.

”And that’s not all! She wrote that her husband beats her every day and wants to kill her. Whenever she goes out, someone follows her. She tried to escape back to her parents’ home, but when her husband caught her, he got several men to take turns with her again! They tied her up, beat her, and abused her in all sorts of ways!”

Liumei was practically dying of anxiety when she saw this; her mind was on fire—that was her classmate!

Qian coughed for a long time after being choked by the tea. When she finally stopped coughing, Liumei looked at her nervously; she was very tense, wondering what to do.

”So, what should we eat for breakfast tomorrow?” Qian said just one sentence after listening to Liumei’s account. Liumei stood up and started pacing back and forth.

”How can you even think about eating at a time like this? I’m telling you, my classmates and I are all freaking out about this. Everyone’s leaving comments trying to help. I just called some of my former classmates, and we’re figuring out a rescue plan!”

Qian rolled her eyes, ”If you’re too distracted to make breakfast, let’s eat out tomorrow. I heard the porridge shop downstairs is serving cold porridge now—just perfect for this weather.”

”Sis!!!”

”Sis, lend me your little hands~ scoop up some black soil and bury the ghost!” Qian even sang a tune.

Liumei was about to spit blood; they were talking about serious matters, and this was how her sister-in-law acted.

”This song was what your brother’s staff sang when he proposed to me. I almost fainted when I heard it. The lyrics are ridiculous. Now I understand, no wonder your brother’s emotional intelligence can’t bring out employees with much emotional intelligence either.”

Qian complained; she could still remember the scene, and it was maddening.

”Why do you say my brother has low emotional intelligence? I think he’s alright—wait, what were we talking about again?” Liumei was frustrated; her sister-in-law had completely derailed the conversation!

”We’re talking about your classmate, who wrote in her online space that she was assaulted by some guys her husband brought, and her husband is tracking her with the intention to kill her. You’re very worried.”

”Yeah, right, that! What should we do!”

”Chill out! Look at you, just one line I say throws you off course. You believe whatever people say. Not just you, your classmates are the same—panicking without thinking it through.”

”We have thought about it, and we’re considering what to do. Taking it to the public will likely not have enough evidence since the alleged incidents happened a long time ago, and evidence can’t be retrieved. So we think of accusing him of domestic violence. Sis—sis, why are you eating fruit now!”

The sky is practically falling, and yet her sister-in-law acts like this!

”The peaches from Lishi are just not as sweet as the ones from my hometown. Let’s have Fugui bring a bunch over this Sunday to store in the fridge. When I head home, I’ll have a feast.” Qian commented while munching on a peach.

”A few classmates and I have agreed to go back home together this Sunday to check on her. We’re really worried and will have to reschedule karaoke with Qiuqiu.”

”You haven’t told Fugui about this?” Qian couldn’t believe Liumei hadn’t realized what’s going on; Fugui, the psychiatrist, would surely understand this.

This clearly fell under Fugui’s area of expertise, strictly speaking, it had nothing to do with Qian.

”I haven’t told him yet, right, I’ll call him now!” Liumei promptly dialed Fugui’s number, which connected almost immediately.

”Fugui! Something happened!”

Qian shook her head, and continued reading, thinking how Liumei’s personality was like a precious, lively egg.

Martial artists seem to be like this; perhaps Fugui particularly likes this kind.

When Qian finally finished her book, several minutes had passed, and Liumei was nearing the end of her story.

”...the whole story is just like that. A few of us classmates are planning to head over as a group to check on her. We’re not at ease. If she really went through that, we must help her escape the clutches of that scumbag. It’s terrifying!”

Qian closed her book, crossed her legs, and checked the time. Tsk tsk, ten minutes had passed. Fugui truly is a good man—able to endure this.

Listening from start to finish—Yu must feel relieved that their good cabbage ended up in good hands because Fugui has such patience.

”Liumei, don’t worry, listen to me. I’ll go with you on Sunday. You don’t need to bring a large group. Just bring Qian’er and the three of us will be enough.”

”Huh? Is it okay?” Liumei thought that someone who would call several men to assault his wife must be unforgivable. If necessary, they might even have to deal with a physical confrontation, so it would be better to swarm the place all at once.

”It’s fine, trust me, I can help you—Liumei, could you let Qian take the phone?” Fugui said gently.

Liumei handed the phone to Qian.

”Hello, Liao Fugui, do you have a lot of time on your hands? I can’t believe you haven’t figured out what’s going on.” Qian said lazily.

”I know, her classmate might have delusional disorder. The points Liumei mentioned all match the three diagnostic criteria for delusional disorder.”

Delusional disorder is a mental illness that’s particularly easy to diagnose, and even among various psychological perspectives with different viewpoints, there is high consistency in diagnosing delusional disorder. So Qian immediately realized this might be mental illness; if not, it was just a ploy to grab attention.

If someone truly suffered such harm, they wouldn’t be broadcasting it on social media.

Fugui could understand this too.

”You knew what was going on and still went along with Meizi’s fuss?” Qian didn’t even blink when it came to matters unrelated to her or her family.

There are plenty of mentally ill people in the world, and even more with psychological issues; she wouldn’t waste energy on things that didn’t affect her wallet.

”Meizi has a kind heart, a bit of that heroic, chivalrous spirit. I hope she maintains her sincerity.”

”Tsk tsk, if you keep spoiling her like this for 40 years, Liumei will become a second Mom.”

Qian could perfectly imagine Liumei becoming as enthusiastic a grandma as Jia Xiufang after hitting menopause, spreading positive energy everywhere, constantly busy with these sorts of things, and filling every day with activities.

”No worries. By then, I’ll be old too; my aesthetic preferences take after my dad’s.”

”...” Qian was heartbroken by this shower of dog food—damn!

But thinking it over, logically it made sense; many aspects of Fugui are similar to Uncle Liao. So it was no wonder he fell for Liumei. Qian could only say one pot matches one lid, these two are truly a perfect match.

”Qian’er, you should come with us to Kao Shan County. It’s not far.”

”Nope, I have stuff to do this weekend!” Cases that scream mental illness with no suspense and no challenge—Qian wasn’t doing those.

”Qian’er—”

”Stop nagging, I’m definitely not going.”

”Alright, I won’t force you.”

Ten minutes after Qian ended her call, Mr. Liu’s call came in.

”The weekend’s almost here, could you support the psychological counseling room at a nearby county’s mental health center? A patient specifically requested a female doctor.”
