Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 823: Chapter 797: Finally Met

If there’s a natural disaster, it’s quite normal for private companies nearby to help out. Not only is it fulfilling social responsibility, but it’s also a kind of publicity for the company.

Upon hearing that he was not in the mountains and did not have to worry about the storm disaster, Qian’s heart felt much more at ease. Yu Minglang was temporarily fine and could chat with Qian a bit longer.

”What are you doing here today?”

”The teacher gave me a task to support the psychiatric consultation department at the mental hospital here. Oh, Xiaoqiang, I encountered a particularly coincidental thing today...”

Qian didn’t want to hang up the phone so early. On this stormy night, she wanted to talk to him for a few more words.

So, Qian told Yu Minglang everything about how she ran into the principal who had been harassed at the mental hospital, how she had a dispute with the principal, and how she encountered the matter with that psychiatric patient.

”So, are you now living next to the home of a psychiatric patient who admires you?”

Yu Minglang also felt that Qian’s day was truly bizarre, worthy of being called an adventure.

Coming all the way from Lishi to meet the principal here.

Then after a round of fuss, she ended up lodging next to the home of a patient with delusions about her.

”Will the person with erotomania attack others?” Yu Minglang asked.

”Erotomania doesn’t attack people; it just imagines the person as their lover and firmly believes it.”

”You’re wrong. Some patients with delusional disorders have violent tendencies. They may stalk or even kidnap the person they fantasize about, sometimes leading to hatred borne from love and having a shared urge to die together.”

Fugui, after chatting with his future father-in-law, came over to see and happened to hear Qian making a mistake. The academic achiever, a PhD, quickly corrected her. Qian glared at Liao Fugui fiercely while holding her phone. You talk too much!

Qian knew very well that delusional disorders might pose a violence threat. She just deliberately said so to prevent Yu Minglang from worrying.

Fugui was baffled and wondered why Qian’er was glaring at him.

”Mei, go back home tomorrow immediately!” Yu Minglang was feeling uneasy and thought it was too unsafe!

”I know. Once the road is clear, I’ll go home tomorrow. Besides, you don’t need to worry. He’s already been locked in the mental hospital. He’s currently in an episode, and the hospital won’t release him.”

”Once you’re home, move to our new place instantly. I’ll return after finishing the road repair.” Hearing Fugui’s talk made Yu Minglang feel uneasy.

His wife was now living next to a psychiatric patient who hallucinated about her, which was too unsafe. If he could leave now, he’d rush to Qian’s side immediately.

”Alright, don’t worry. There won’t be any problem.”

After chatting with Yu Minglang for a bit more, Qian finally hung up the phone, feeling at ease.

Raindrops pattered, but when Qian closed her eyes, there was no trace of sleepiness. Liumei, who was sharing a bed with her, was already snoring soundly. Qian closed her eyes and seemingly saw the patient she met at the mental hospital during the day, screaming her name hideously, with hands that looked like ghost claws, leaving marks on the iron bars...

The rain cleared overnight, and Yu Minglang called Qian in the morning, saying the road had been repaired early, allowing a single lane to open up. Cars could leave, but not enter, so he had to continue repairs and urged Qian to leave promptly.

Fugui drove Qian and Liumei, and the journey was smooth. As they were nearing the place where Yu Minglang was repairing the road, Liumei turned to the back seat and said to Qian.

”You and my brother make a big deal out of everything. See, nothing happened, right?”

”He just worries too much about me.”

”Once we’re near the place my brother is repairing the road, let’s stop by and distribute the eggs and water my mom boiled in those two boxes to the soldiers.”

Liumei’s adopted mother knew Yu Minglang and his group were repairing the road voluntarily. Since it was an impromptu task, they weren’t prepared well, so she packed the trunk with food for Liumei to drop off for Yu Minglang and his group.

”Okay.” Qian also wanted to see Yu Minglang, as it had been many days since she last saw him.

But when the car reached that section, they couldn’t pass through.

The cars were jam-packed. Fugui got out to inquire and found out the road was slippery, and two cars had collided, causing a blockage.

”How long will this jam last?” Qian asked when Fugui returned with the news.

”They’re reportedly handling it. Mainly, the alternative road isn’t open yet, so we’ll have to wait here a bit longer.”

”This is so frustrating. I’ll call my brother and see where he is.” Liumei was about to make a call when Yu Minglang phoned Qian first.

”Mei, where are you all located now?”

”We’re stuck here. What’s going on up front?”

”One of the two rear-end collision drivers supposedly has road rage. He parked his car in the middle of the road and refuses to move. Our people will negotiate one last time, and if he continues, we’ll take coercive measures.”

”I’m not far from there. I’ll go see if I can soothe his mood.”

Road rage is a common problem in the automotive era, with about 30% of professional drivers suffering from it. It poses a serious risk as driving with emotions can lead to accidents.

Qian happened to be nearby, and she wanted to go over to check the situation. Yu Minglang seemed to have more to say, but Qian quickly hung up before he could.

”Sister-in-law, I’ll go with you.” Liumei also wanted to follow.

”No worries, Fugui and I can handle this. You stay and watch the car. If the front cars start moving, let’s not block the way.”

Qian considered that since both Fugui and she were professionals, they could better deal with road rage. Someone needed to remain with the car.

After weaving through the traffic, Qian and Fugui finally got close to the site. A car was parked sideways in the middle of a road that only allowed two cars to pass, and a person covered in mud was shouting into a speaker nearby.

The infuriated driver was especially unreasonable. If anyone dared approach, he would drive in circles, heightening the risk of collisions and worsening the traffic jam, so they had to patiently continue communicating.

This road rage driver was utterly unreasonable, disregarding the efforts the repair team made for everyone’s quick passage. Though the person shouting wasn’t Yu Minglang, Qian still felt a bit pained.

Her husband was leading a group doing what shouldn’t be their task, managing the repairs in mud and water, all while these passersby only complained about the lack of open roads, turning a blind eye to the hardships of those handling the crisis. People behaved as if the group’s efforts were natural, not realizing they too had parents who raised them, while some took everything others did for granted.

The road-raging car was just meters from a coach bus, whose passengers stuck their heads out to watch, while the troublesome driver continued yelling.
