Chapter 190: Chapter 190: You Make a Lot of Sense

Hua Jinyan began to analyze for her, “The foster father and foster mother from the mountains bought you because they had no children.”

Little Taotie nodded vaguely, “That should be the case.”

Hua Jinyan continued his analysis, “But later on, they had twins, a boy and a girl, their own flesh and blood. Is it that they started to dislike you after the twins were born?”

Little Taotie thought seriously for a moment, then nodded.

“So it wasn’t that they suddenly disliked you; there was a reason for their dislike. It wasn’t that you were not good enough, but rather you were originally not a member of their household. You just returned to being a stranger, back to the starting point.”

“I don’t quite understand,” Little Taotie said, her round eyes wide as she cocked her head to look at him.

Despite Hua Jinyan being only a year older than her, why was he so good at drawing, and also skilled at many things she could not do, like making kites, and now she even found it hard to understand what he was saying!

Little Taotie hung her head in dejection, muttering, “I’m so dumb!”

“You’re not dumb; you’re just too close to the situation,” he reassured her.

“Still don’t understand.”

“To explain, it means you’re a participant in the situation, so you can’t see the whole picture but only what’s within the confined view of someone caught in it.”

Little Taotie nodded, half-understanding.

“You are the child of the Tao Family; you always belonged there, and just because you have a younger brother and sister, it doesn’t mean you are not loved.”

Upon hearing this, Little Taotie pursed her lips and asked, “Do you think they will always like me?”

“With you being so adorable, unless they were kicked in the head by a donkey, they couldn’t possibly not like you!”

Little Taotie giggled, feeling a little embarrassed, “I’m… not that cute!”

Watching her smile bashfully with her eyes curved up, Hua Jinyan silently thought: You’re the cutest!

“Do you want me to recognize them as my parents?” Little Taotie asked.

“Either way is fine; whatever decision you make, I think it’s okay,” he assured her.

“It’s okay if I don’t recognize them, too?”

“After all, they were the ones who lost you first, and they did not appear when you were most in need. Whether they are there or not doesn’t matter—if you don’t want to acknowledge them, of course, that’s okay. It’s your freedom, after all.”

Little Taotie sighed like a little adult, “It’s so hard. I want good parents, but I’m afraid they will turn out bad.”

“Without trying, you’ll never get the answer. You won’t know if good parents will stay good or if they will turn bad.”

“Try? Can this kind of thing be tried as well?”

“Of course. You can set a trial period with them. During this time, you can observe whether they are genuine or not, and if you notice anything wrong, you can immediately cut ties and give up on them completely. But if you find they are consistently good to you, then why not enjoy having more people who like and cherish you?”

“What you say makes sense,” Little Taotie said, her eyes sparkling as she looked at Hua Jinyan, “I will ask them for a one-year trial period!”

Hua Jinyan shook his head, “Three months is enough.”

“Isn’t that too short?”

“I’m afraid if you live with them for a year, feelings will develop, and then you’ll find it hard to let go.”

Little Taotie considered this; it wasn’t impossible.

“Then… then three months it is!”

…

In the small room, Qin Xin pinned Liu Aiguo to the chair, shining a flashlight on him, “Are you blind? My dear sister was almost declared severely mentally ill by you; were you doing it on purpose, planning to have her stay for further treatment and swindle my money?”

Liu Aiguo: “Hear me out, no, let me explain!”
