Chapter 170: Chapter 170: The Ridiculous Overflow of Sympathy

Tao Tiancheng finally rushed home, wanting to see his little daughter, but his wife told him that she had gone back to the police station in the mountains.

The old master urged, “You should quickly go and see. Although Guodong and Xiao Xin are quite reliable, and your eldest grandson has also gone with them, I’m still a bit worried. Go and check on them.”

So, Tiancheng, who had just stepped into the Tao family’s house, left without even having time for a cup of tea.

…

In the police station, the twins were surrounded by two female police officers, who were offering them comfort and warmth.

The female police officer’s heart softened upon seeing such skinny, pitiful children, and her moral balance tipped when she saw their little hands covered in frostbite.

The one making the call was that female police officer; she had already investigated and figured out that these two children had no real relationship with the sister they mentioned. The girl was kidnapped and had no blood relation to them.

But these two children were too pitiful. Previously, arrangements were made for them to stay with relatives, but who could have imagined it would turn out so badly. Now, they had no relatives left to go to except for that sister.

They grew up together, so they must feel some affection for each other, right?

The Female Police Officer heard that the girl’s original family was wealthy. After all, this family had been raising their children for six years. They should help take care of them for a while, at least until the children’s parents could be released from prison and take them back.

The Female Police Officer and another discussed how to convince the girl and her parents who were about to arrive.

“That young girl is kind of a Little Star now, right?”

“Yes, she has some fame.”

“Since she’s a star, she should care a lot about her reputation. After all, she grew up with them. She can’t just watch her brother and sister starve, can she? Public figures definitely care greatly about maintaining a positive image.”

“She’s still young, I think she doesn’t have much say. It’s more about what her parents decide.”

“Her parents are wealthy, so what does it matter if they raise two more kids?”

“That’s true, others have been raising their children for six years.”

“Bang!” went a sound!

It was the sound of a tea cup lid being forcefully placed on the cup.

The two female police officers stopped their conversation and looked towards the senior police officer who came over to take his shift.

The senior officer looked sharply at them and demanded coldly, “Who authorized you to investigate that girl, who told you to call her agent and harass them?”

“We just made a call to inquire, since they grew up together —”

“Bang!” There was another sound of the tea cup lid hitting the cup.

The Female Police Officer, frightened, shut her mouth.

“You are being reckless! You are acting out of personal emotions! Write a reflection report, all of you write a reflection report!”

“I’m not wrong!” a stubborn Female Police Officer said defiantly, believing she was righteous, “We police are supposed to help the people. Look at these two children — they’re so skinny they’re just skin and bones, and their hands are covered in frostbite! We are just trying to find them a home! We are doing a good deed!”

“You think that’s funny!” the senior officer looked at her with a cold sneer, “You can send them back home, send them to a welfare institution, or even take them to your own house! Is your way of promoting justice asking innocent people to sacrifice their personal interests to satisfy your grandeur?”

“I…” The Female Police Officer wanted to object, wanted to say her rented place wasn’t suitable, wanted to say she couldn’t take care of children, thought of many excuses, but under the sharp, cold gaze of the senior officer, she couldn’t speak a word, feeling that those excuses were feeble, even ridiculous.

“I hope your reflection report fully recognizes your mistakes, or else…” the senior officer’s face became stern, and he said calmly, “you might as well not be police officers. You’re not qualified.”
