Chapter 186: Chapter 186: Invited a Psychologist

“What do you mean?” Cheng Guodong was puzzled. To him, his sister hadn’t become gloomy or disheartened because of the Tao Family’s affair. She had quickly recovered from her dejected mood, which was more than he could ask for.

Qin Xin didn’t answer directly but retorted with a question, “Would a normal person be able to recover so quickly after decisively refusing to return to their biological parents upon meeting them?”

Cheng Guodong focused on the words “normal person,” his gaze froze, and he fell silent.

Indeed, not to mention a child, even a mentally mature adult would find it impossible to recover so quickly!

Actually, a six-year-old child is still very passive. Normally, faced with such a situation, most would accept their biological parents. Moreover, the Tao Family had put in effort before the recognition, starting by getting to know her and establishing a good relationship.

Faced with kind-hearted parents, a grandfather with whom she had a good relationship, and an elder brother who doted on her, a normal six-year-old child would definitely not refuse! A normal person wouldn’t refuse!

After such backward reasoning, the conclusion reached was — Little Taotie, not normal!

Cheng Guodong was startled by this conclusion, he looked incredulously at Qin Xin, hoping to find a different answer in his younger brother’s eyes.

Unfortunately, what he saw in his brother’s eyes was affirmation, affirming his speculation.

“She’s lively and cute, how could she possibly…” Not normal?

Qin Xin lowered his eyelids, shaking his head, “Think about it, she was abused by her foster mother in the mountains, beaten and scolded, forced to bear many household chores at such a young age, not even allowed to study, and often starved. Would a child like that be lively and cute? Her behavior has been off from the start!”

Cheng Guodong: “…”

After a long silence, Cheng Guodong tentatively asked, “Should we consult a psychologist? Actually, I think that my sister not being afraid at all after seeing those things is not like most people. Perhaps she is just thick-skinned, not taking anything to heart. Maybe we’re overthinking it, and she’s not sick.”

“I’ve already contacted a doctor.”

“Ah? When?”

“While you were silent.”

Cheng Guodong held his forehead, “When will the doctor arrive?”

“He’ll be here in five minutes.”

“That fast?”

“I paid ten times the price.”

Cheng Guodong raised his thumb, “You’re the man!”

…

Little Taotie held the kite high, running faster than she had previously, and had grasped the technique. Without Hua Jinyan’s assistance, she could now get the kite to soar.

“It’s flying so high!” a voice laughed.

Little Taotie and Hua Jinyan looked over to see a person with golden hair, very white skin, and amber eyes approaching.

This was Little Taotie’s first time seeing a foreigner, her eyes wide with amazement, filled with curiosity.

Hua Jinyan shielded her behind him, scanning the surroundings warily. When he saw Cheng Guodong and Qin Xin approaching from another direction, he finally relaxed.

Qin Xin quickened his pace, frowning, “I told you to wait in the living room. Why did you come here?”

The man flicked his fringe and smiled, “The sunlight in the yard is so nice. Just taking a walk.”

Qin Xin stared at him with furrowed brows, “Behave yourself!”

Were it not for this man’s top-notch professional level and the difficulty of finding someone better on such short notice — to say nothing of the private connections — which had already seen through his casual demeanor, he definitely would not have invited him over!

“Alright, alright, when it’s time to work after taking someone’s money, I definitely will!” The man took a pair of gold-rimmed glasses from his pocket and transformed into another person the instant he put them on. The previous nonchalance and carefree demeanor vanished, replaced by a sense of steadiness and reliability. His eyes now reflected intelligence and calm.
