The Lovely Heiress Is Actually A God Beast

Chapter 127: Chapter 127 Blood is Thicker Than Water

“I haven’t deceived you, nor do I need to.”

Tao Mo mechanically turned his head to look at Cheng Guodong, meeting his exceedingly stern and serious face.

“This…”

Tao Mo couldn’t find his voice for a long time, unsure of what to say. He was old and his capacity to endure was low; he needed a moment to recover.

Tao Ti’s head suddenly slumped down, asking listlessly, “Are you leaving? Can’t you stay with me any longer?”

“Although many people like me now, I don’t want to lose Grandpa’s affection.”

“Grandpa, please don’t go, okay?”

Her voice was choked with sobs. Her little hands tried to grasp but went right through Grandpa’s body, catching nothing.

When the vengeful spirit Miss left, she was happy for her, thinking that Miss had finally let go and could be reborn.

But now that it was Grandpa who was leaving, she didn’t want Grandpa to go.

The elderly man gently caressed her head; even though it was just a phantom touch, Tao Ti felt an exceptional warmth. She lifted her head and whispered, “I don’t want you to go.”

“Birth, aging, sickness, and death are natural laws. I’ve actually reached the age long ago but I’ve been holding on, simply couldn’t bear to leave you. Now someone else will cherish you and take care of you on my behalf. I can be at peace.”

“I don’t want you to go,” Tao Ti repeated, as if that were all she could say, her tears streaming down unabated.

“You are not my biological granddaughter. I’ve been keeping this from you, but I truly love you from the bottom of my heart. Now that my time is running short, I should tell you this secret.”

Tao Ti’s eyes widened in disbelief, forgetting even to cry, stunned.

“I know it’s hard for you to accept this, and our family has wronged you. Though it’s a bit shameless to say, they are, after all, my biological grandchildren. If…I mean if, they can’t make it on their own, would you help them a bit?”

When his daughter-in-law brought back Tao Ti years ago and named her, they hoped she would bring children to the family. The name Ti, with elements representing both male and female, signified that they would welcome a child of either gender. Who would have thought Tao Ti was blessed with great fortune? Not long after she arrived, his daughter-in-law’s hoped-for children came, twins, a boy and a girl, fulfilling the meaning of her name’s characters, both male and female.

His feelings towards his biological grandchildren were complicated; after all, those two kids weren’t close to him, but ultimately, blood is thicker than water, and he couldn’t bring himself to let them go.

He knew it was difficult for Tao Ti, who had no obligation, yet…he couldn’t find anyone else to help.

Although he was comatose, he still retained a bit of consciousness. When his son and daughter-in-law came to visit him at the hospital, they were taken away by the police right there, and afterwards, they never appeared again.

He knew they must have been imprisoned, and the twin brother and sister probably had no one to look after them. He was clueless about how they had managed all this time.

The old man’s Soul Body shed tears, full of sorrow.

Tao Ti snapped out of her daze, silent for a very long time. Recalling her brother and sister who always scolded her, calling her Broom Star, she lowered her eyelids and muttered sullenly, “Grandpa, I understand.”

“Just make sure they don’t starve. If…if they still treat you the same way as before, being so insensible, you don’t have to force yourself or bother with them.”

“I understand.”

“My time has come.”

Tao Ti looked up and saw Grandpa’s body gradually turn into particles of light, flying toward the sky.

She watched dazedly, tears uncontrollably rolling down her cheeks, like pearls off a string, falling heavily.

She pursed her lips and after a long time, murmured softly, “Is Grandpa going to heaven, where there’s a better life? I shouldn’t be sad. I should be happy for Grandpa. He has been holding on, taking care of me, already so tired. I shouldn’t force him to stay…”

Tao Mo gently walked behind his granddaughter, hearing her sensible whispers, his heart softening into a mush, gently wiping away her tears as he lovingly said, “You still have me, no more crying, good granddaughter.”
