The Lovely Heiress Is Actually A God Beast

Chapter 106: Chapter 106: The Hardworking Worker

Tao Mo immediately reported the disappearance to the police, and they quickly arrived. Not long after the first group of officers got there, just as they had started asking about the time of Tao Ti’s disappearance and what she looked like, another group of officers showed up.

Officer A: “Why did you guys come?”

Officer B: “We received a different case from yours. There will be special forces arriving soon.”

Officer Ding, who was on good terms with Officer A, leaned in and whispered to him: this and that, thus and so.

Officer A was taken aback: “You’re saying those people are in the center of the forest? But it seems the child might have also gone in that direction. Could it be…” taken hostage?

Officer A didn’t dare to think further, the very thought was chilling.

Officer B let out a sigh and said in a low voice, “You go calm her family members first. We are here to clear the area. You need to find a way to get them out of here.”

“Difficult,” Officer A spread his hands: “The old man has already rushed into the center of the forest.”

“What! Stop him quickly, we can’t give the criminals another hostage!”

A group of officers dashed into the forest, leaving Officer A behind to convince Cheng Guodong, Qin Xin, and the life assistant to leave the area first.

“Why do we have to leave? Is something going on inside? Why are there so many police here!” Qin Xin stood her ground, her gaze sharp.

Cheng Guodong realized something, “The second batch of police officers who arrived just now weren’t here to help find people, right? They have another mission? What has happened inside, could my sister be in danger? No, we won’t leave! I’m going in right now, get out of my way!”

The life assistant mopped sweat from his brow, growing anxious: “Oh no, Old Director Tao has chased into the forest!”

Cheng Guodong reached out to push past Officer A, but Officer A, using all his strength, held Cheng Guodong back, hugging him around the waist to prevent him from leaving.

But while he managed to stop Cheng Guodong, he could not stop Qin Xin and the life assistant.

Qin Xin ran deeper into the forest, looking back to see the life assistant following, quite puzzled: “You’re just an employee; you don’t need to go to such lengths, do you?”

In Qin Xin’s view, the old man was quite a handful, and the life assistant had shown expressions of helplessness and pain along the way, not seeming like someone who would lay down his life for the sake of the old man.

“Although Old Director Tao can be stubborn and difficult to serve, he has been kind to me; I can’t let him come to harm.”

He hadn’t graduated from a prestigious university. During the initial interview for the life assistant position, many candidates were from famous universities and had studied abroad. At the time, he felt he had no chance.

However, he really wanted to stay by Old Director Tao’s side because he came from a poor village without even a primary school. To go to school, he had to traverse mountains and rivers, arriving at school by noon and getting home only after it had become dark.

He had considered giving up countless times, not wanting to continue his education.

Later, Old Director Tao built a primary school in the mountains.

After that, he became the only student from his village to go to college. He felt lost and was afraid his poor family wouldn’t be able to afford the tuition. Then, a letter arrived from afar, personally written by Old Director Tao, containing living expenses and tuition fees.

Even though Old Director Tao didn’t recognize him when they first met, he remembered his benefactor’s generosity.

Indeed, he was eliminated in the first round of interviews.

It was said Old Director Tao chose someone who was most attractive and tallest among the returnees from abroad.

At that moment, he realized Old Director Tao was particular about appearances.

However, that returnee resigned within three days, unable to tolerate Old Director Tao’s demanding nature.

Young Director Tao then called him to inquire about his willingness and immediately appointed him to the post.

On his first day, Old Director Tao criticized his outdated dress, his thick glasses, and found fault in everything.

At that time, he felt quite insecure and distressed.

But on the second day, seeing a box full of clothes and ten pairs of glasses on his office desk, he broke into a smile.

Old Director Tao had a tough exterior but a soft heart.

“I won’t let Old Director Tao and the little miss come to any harm!” said the life assistant with resolve.

“Little miss?” Qin Xin narrowed her eyes, finally catching the slip.
