The Lovely Heiress Is Actually A God Beast

Chapter 113: Chapter 113: I’m Afraid I’m Going to Regret This

Gu Lanxin’s complexion became increasingly anxious. She had finally obtained a clue and had successfully won the auction, but then it had disappeared without a trace for three whole years. In the end, she had no choice but to send her son away.

Now, just when hope had resurfaced, could it be yet another false alarm?

Could it be that the child really had no place in the secular world—that he could only live peacefully in the temple amidst eternal lamplight and ancient Buddhas?

Gu Lanxin’s eyes reddened slightly, her voice hoarse, “Where is the Shariputra now? Has it been lost…”

Her superior clearly sensed something was off. At this moment, Police Officer B brought over some tea. He took it from Officer B’s hand and placed it in front of Gu Lanxin, saying softly, “You should have some tea and calm down. Things aren’t as you think; it hasn’t been lost, and we’ll be able to retrieve it soon.”

The once dim pupils suddenly flickered with a glimmer of hope, but she steadied herself to avoid getting too excited and facing another disappointment. Over the years, she had faced too many disappointments concerning her son.

“This is what happened: the criminal used the Rainbow Relic to attack a child. The child thought it was just like a glass marble, something fun, and collected it without knowing its value. Rest assured, that child is a good kid. Once we talk to her, she will definitely return it to us…”

Her superior earnestly tried to reassure her, but before he could finish, a young officer peeked in through the open door, saying, “Little cutie is here, says she’s here to return something! Oh, there are visitors here, my apologies for the interruption!”

“Wait, don’t go, come back here!”

“Yes!”

“The little cutie you’re talking about, is she Tao Ti, Little Star?”

“Yes, yes, yes, that’s her! She is so cute in person, skin pale as Bai Bai, tender like soft tofu… really adorable…”

The superior coughed, “Mind your image, there are guests present!”

The young officer’s face flushed red with embarrassment, apologetically glancing at the elegantly dressed Great Beauty, “I’m sorry, that was rude of me.”

“It’s alright.” Gu Lanxin looked at the police superior, her eyes brimming with hope, “The child you mentioned, is she the one coming over to return something now?”

Not knowing the exact situation, the superior comforted her, “You wait here for a while, I will go and check.”

Gu Lanxin could hardly sit still, quickly standing up to follow, “May I come with you to have a look?”

“Um!” Since you’ve already followed, how can I say no?

Confronted with the Great Beauty, the superior still had a mild temper. He swallowed his complaints and forced a smile, “It’s possible, but don’t frighten her.”

“Do I look that scary?”

“Um, no… not scary.”

Tao Ti saw a familiar-looking officer behind a much older officer, accompanied by a very pretty auntie.

She trotted over, standing in front of Officer B with her small hands cupped together, revealing seven differently colored transparent beads in her palms—it was indeed the Rainbow Relic!

“This is the weapon used by the bad person who hit me. I picked it up and hid it secretly…” Tao Ti stammered, her face blushing, “Because they are so pretty. But Grandpa Fensi said it belonged to someone else, my second brother said you should return other people’s things, that you should restore what’s theirs or else you are a bad kid who steals…”

Lifting her little face, her eyes reddening, she seemed reluctant to part with the beautiful Shariputra. Still, in a soft voice, she said, “I’m not a bad child, I’m returning these to you, I… was wrong, I won’t hide other people’s things anymore.”

Her little nose feeling sour, she sniffled, and seeing that the other party had yet to take them, she urged, “Police Uncle, hurry up! If you don’t take them quickly, I’m afraid I’ll regret it!”
