The Lovely Heiress Is Actually A God Beast

Chapter 72: Chapter 72 She Doesn’t Blame Her Dad

Hearing his words, Tao Bin felt a momentary sense of suffocation.

However, he quickly found a breaking point and accused, “If you had gone to save her, she could have escaped being tortured and killed! In any case, it’s because you were too heartless!”

“Yes, I could have,” Luo Hanchen admitted remorsefully. “Ever since the attempt to take my own life was stopped, I never thought about dying again because I’m scared, scared of seeing my daughter and having her ask me why I didn’t save her.”

“How could I answer? I really don’t know.”

“I want to say, it was because of the millions of families; I had no choice. Even if I had gone, we would have been facing certain death, and the mission wouldn’t have been completed.”

“Yet, I feel all explanations are weak. I’m a father, and I should have been there for my child in times of danger, regardless of anything else!”

...

“But, I’m also a police officer.”

“I have no regrets, but I’m afraid to see her; I’m afraid she’ll blame me…”

Tao Ti looked towards the sister whose eyes were now brimming with tears, slowly moved closer to her, and gently asked, “Sister, do you blame your dad?”

Those deep, hollow, and dim eyes suddenly cleared for an instant. There seemed to be light in her eyes, warm and gentle, with a smile. She mouthed to Little Taotie: I don’t blame my dad, I know he loves me very much.

Having harbored resentment, she became a vengeful spirit and remained in the mortal world. Every day, she watched her father as he cleaned the picture frames, leafed through photo albums, stared at her photo in a daze, and cried over her picture.

She knew her father was also tormented inside.

“I’ll give you my resentment, help me tell my dad. I don’t blame him, he’s right. My dream was to become a police officer like my dad, and I am proud of him,” she said.

Little Taotie, who had always wanted the resentment, hesitated for a moment and asked softly, “Are you really willing to give me your resentment? If you do, you’ll have to leave, and if you leave, you won’t be able to see your dad anymore.”

“I’ve let go already; I have no resentment left.”

“Then… okay. Eh, I can talk to you now! I seem to have become stronger!” Tao Ti belatedly realized that, whereas she could only understand the vengeful spirit by reading her lips before, she could now actually converse with the spirit!

She looked over to Hua Jinyan and asked, “You can see the vengeful spirit, but can you talk to it?”

“I can.”

Tao Ti: “…”

Just as Xiao Tao Ti wanted to boast about becoming stronger, she suddenly felt downcast and a bit unhappy.

“Sister, are you ready?”

The little girl vengeful spirit nodded and closed her eyes.

Tao Ti gently placed her small hand on the girl’s forehead, then slowly pulled at something, drawing out wisp after wisp of visible grey mist.

Tao Ti bunched up the mist into a little ball, which quickly turned into a transparent Candy.

Crystal clear and see-through.

Xiao Tao Ti brought the Candy to her lips, took a lick, and smiled, “It’s lychee-flavored! Little sister, did you used to love eating lychees?”

The girl’s soul grew more and more transparent, nodded at Tao Ti, and then dispersed into countless points of light, vanishing from sight.

Tao Ti’s gaze darkened, and she said sadly, “Little sister, she has left.”

Luo Hanchen reached out frantically, grabbing at the air, but there was nothing to hold.

Tears streamed down his face, and in a hoarse voice, he lamented, “Nuannuan, my Nuannuan, it’s all dad’s fault, dad is to blame…”

“Little sister says she doesn’t blame you, and that she’s proud of you. Her dream was to become a police officer like you.”
