The Lovely Heiress Is Actually A God Beast

Chapter 64: Chapter 64 Tao Bin was heartbroken

Little Taotie’s life as a secular disciple at Shaolin Temple officially began. She got up before dawn.

Tao Bin was surprised, “How did you get up so early?”

He thought waking his little sister would be a daunting task, as it used to be like going to battle when he tried to wake Tao Yinyin at home.

Who could have thought that before he could even knock, his sister came out on her own, having already washed up.

Tao Ti smiled softly, “I always used to get up this early.”

In the mountain village, she had to get up early every day to wash diapers for her younger siblings and also deal with rice, vegetables…

...

It seemed like every day was so busy that if she didn’t start early, she could never finish the tasks her mother assigned.

On the contrary, after becoming a performer, life became more relaxed, and she could eat her fill every day.

“Come on, I’ll take you for breakfast. We have pumpkin porridge and small steamed buns today,” said Tao Bin, holding his sister’s hand, feeling delighted inside.

This sister was both good-natured and adorable, not like the sister he used to know, who was noisy and disruptive, and liked to snatch his things and throw tantrums if she didn’t get her way.

They ate in a large dining hall with rows of tables. Here, the converted disciples were all very quiet, adhering to the rule of not speaking while eating or sleeping. Once they finished eating, they would quietly leave their seats, making room for others, and take their bowls and utensils outside to wash.

Tao Ti followed their example and took her bowl and utensils, ready to wash them, when she heard Tao Bin say, “Let me do that, sister; I’ll wash it! The water’s cold, don’t freeze yourself!”

Touching the water, Tao Ti laughed, innocently, “It’s not cold. The water in our mountain village is much colder than this! In winter, a thin layer of ice would even form on the surface!”

Hearing this, Tao Bin was stunned. During that moment of distraction, he saw Little Taotie skillfully wash the bowls and utensils.

This level of proficiency shouldn’t belong to a six-year-old girl.

Tao Bin tentatively asked, “Did you also put your hands in the water when it was icy?”

“Yes, I had to wash diapers for my younger siblings. I had to get them clean and hung out before the sun came up, or else mom would get angry.”

Tao Bin felt his breathing quicken. He clenched his fists, struggling to control the anger rising in his heart.

Ice water! His six-year-old sister had to wash diapers in icy water!

He had heard his brother mention that his little sister suffered a lot in the mountain village, but that was just a one-sided account. It hadn’t formed any vivid image in his mind. He knew the conditions in the mountain village were poor, but he thought that since she was just a child, she couldn’t be suffering that much, assuming adults would take some care of a child.

But he never imagined that he would learn from his sister that she actually used ice water to wash diapers!

Tao Ti saw him standing there blankly, reached out to take the bowls and utensils from his hand, wanting to wash them for him.

Tao Bin snapped back to reality, held on to the bowl tightly, his voice with a barely detectable choke, “I… I’ll wash it myself.”

Tao Ti tilted her head; from her perspective, the red flowers on top of Tao Bin’s head drooped down, as if crying, disheartened.

“Are you in a bad mood?” Tao Ti cautiously asked, “Did I say something wrong and upset you?”

Seeing how careful his sister was, Tao Bin’s heart twisted.

Only those who have been bullied would be so cautious, always afraid of offending someone.

If one is born into love and favor, they will be bold and carefree, living life breezily, without caring about others’ views.

He coaxed out a gentle smile, “I’m not upset. You don’t need to pay attention to what others think, and you don’t have to be so cautious about offending people.”
