Dragon Monarch System

Chapter 1037: Chapter 1037:- Goddess of War

Just then, another party made their entrance.

”It seems... we arrived at an interesting time.”

’The Sect Leader of Chimera Shadow Sect.’ Everyone was surprised and shocked to see the sect Leader of the Chimera Shadow Sect here. But then again, since the Sect Leader of the Night Rider Sect was here, it shouldn’t be so surprising to many.

The reason many were surprised by the arrival of the Chimera Shadow Sect was that the Sect had always stayed out of the internal politics of the celestial dragon empire. If there was one word to describe the nature of the Chimera Shadow Sect, then that would be opportunist.

The Chimera Shadow Sect was located to the west of the Celestial Dragon Empire, and the two shared a direct border.

Above the Chimera Shadow Sect, to the north, was the territory of the Night Rider Sect. This meant that the Night Rider Sect also shared a border with the Celestial Dragon Empire from the western side.

In simple terms, if one looked at a map, the Celestial Dragon Empire would be on the east. To its west would be the Chimera Shadow Sect. And directly north of the Chimera Shadow Sect would be the Night Rider Sect.

Because of this positioning, both sects were connected to the Empire’s western boundary, making that entire side of the empire a region shared between these two powerful sects.

The entire motto of the Chimera Shadow Sect had always been simple. They waited. They observed. And when the time came, they joined the side that would give them the greatest benefit. This was not something new. This had been their way of survival since their founding days, and it was the very foundation of how the sect operated.

Today, the Chimera Shadow Sect had come here for that exact reason.

To watch.

To judge.

To decide.

Yes, Harrington’s faction was extremely powerful, and the Dukes who stood with him were not weak either. Together, they had enough strength to deal serious damage to the Empire. In fact, if things truly escalated, it would not be an easy victory for the Emperor.

But in the end, what truly mattered to the Chimera Shadow Sect was only one thing.

The final winner. And in their eyes, that winner was going to be the Emperor and his side.

While others saw this as a fight for justice, loyalty, or belief, the Chimera Shadow Sect saw something entirely different. To them, this was a dangerous situation, but at the same time, it was a golden opportunity. A chance to gain more political power, more influence, and more control.

Once the civil war ended, the Emperor would surely reward those who stood with him. And if they played their cards right, the entire sect would rise to a much higher position than before.

They were not here out of respect.

They were not here out of loyalty.

They were here because they saw profit.

If there was nothing to gain, they would not have even bothered to show up. That was the kind of people they were. That was the kind of man their Sect Leader was. And that was the true nature of the Chimera Shadow Sect.

The Sect Leader of the Chimera Shadow Sect slowly stepped forward, and the moment he did, the surrounding noise seemed to quiet down on its own.

He was a tall man with a lean but well-built frame, standing at around six feet in height. There was something about him that made people feel uneasy without understanding why. Maybe deep down, everyone knew what kind of man he was.

His face was sharp and clean, with well-defined features that made him look refined and calm at first glance. But if someone looked a little longer, they would notice something different. His lips carried a faint, almost natural smile, but that smile never reached his eyes. That was a classic fake, gentle smile.

His eyes were narrow and slightly curved, giving him a relaxed and almost lazy expression.

His hair was dark black, smooth and neatly kept, falling just above his shoulders. A few strands rested loosely over his forehead, giving him a slightly careless appearance, but nothing about him was truly careless. Everything about him felt controlled, like done purposely to deceive people.

He wore a long dark robe with subtle golden patterns running along the edges. Around his waist was a thin belt that held the robe together, and a small ornament hung from it, moving slightly as he walked.

No one in the hall underestimated him.

Because the moment his eyes moved across someone, it felt like he had already seen through them completely. The kind of man who would smile while talking to you... and decide your fate in the same moment.

And His name was Renji Kuro.

”Why are you here?” Asked Sophia in a cold tone. Meanwhile, Malakor just frowned. He never liked this pretending this bitch.

”My love, obviously, I am here for you,” Renji replied with a fake smile.

Hearing this, Sophia snorted.

What love? There was no love for her in his heart. He just pretended to love her and hoped that somehow that would touch her heart. This would significantly improve the alliance between the two sects. Maybe even a merger between their sects was also possible. What’s the real reason Renji remained single and always openly declared his love for Sophia to the world?

”I heard that my Love was being insulted.” Renji’s polite smile disappeared. He looked at the crowd with a cold smile.

”I am the one who insulted your so-called love. What will you do?” As expected, Malakor wasn’t the type to sit down and let his enemies talk before him.

The moment Malakor spoke and even took a step forward, Renji’s arrogance instantly disappeared.

Instead, he began sweating. His heart began pounding rapidly.

Who wasn’t afraid of this old lunatic?

He was just trying to appear cool to impress Sophia, but that instantly backfired.

But still Renji’s expression remained cool. He was a master at hiding his expression. He believed that the art of deception was the tool for success.

”Today, I am here to announce that my Chimera Shadow Sect will support His Majesty in its full power against anyone who tries to rebel.”

With the official joining of the powerful Chimera Shadow Sect, the Emperor’s side looked even stronger than before. The nobles who joined the Emperor found themselves smiling in joy. The stronger they were, the more quickly this would end and the fewer casualties they would have.

”Hmph!!!” But Malakor merely snorted. He knew why Renji and his sect joined this side.

”You are nothing but a spineless bastard. If I threw a million platinum coins on the ground before you, you would switch sides or do what I tell you to.”

He took a slow step forward, his eyes locking onto Renji like a predator staring down prey. ”You don’t fight for loyalty. You don’t fight for pride. You don’t even fight for your people. You only move when there is something to gain.”

”If the Emperor falls tomorrow, you’ll be the first one kneeling before his enemy, acting like you were always on their side.”

”I’ve seen your kind before. Men who call themselves leaders, but in truth, they are nothing but merchants dressed in power... selling their loyalty to the highest bidder.”

”And the worst part... is that you’re proud of it.” This part made Renji smile a little. What was wrong with being like that? Because he was like this, he was able to achieve so much more.

Just when it looked like the situation was about to escalate and everyone was getting ready for a fight to break out at any given second, someone else made their entrance.

”The Goddess of War is here!!!” The moment these words were spoken, everyone froze in their places. Because the goddess of war was the last person that they had expected to come here and take a side.

The goddess of war and the deceased general did not even know each other. So there is no reason for her to come here. The only logical explanation for her arrival here is that she is here to participate in the internal politics and the upcoming civil war of the celestial dragon empire.

The moment the faction that took the side of the emperor heard that the Goddess of War was, they were instantly overjoyed. Because the Goddess of War had a close relationship with the Emperor, both Empires were close allies.

Even after Emperor Ren became the Emperor, both Empires still remained close friends. Her arrival here meant that she was here to take the side of the emperor and fight the rest from their side. And with the goddess of war herself being on their side, there was no reason for them to lose this war.

Really, thank you very much to all those who sent support with valuable golden tickets and gifts. I hope we can keep it up!!!
