Dragon Monarch System

Chapter 1006: Chapter 1006:- Terror of Ancient Dragon

City of Aetheria

This city used to be one of the major cities before the great division of the Radiant Empire. When the citizens of the Radiant Empire heard that their Emperor had basically screwed up by planting thousands upon thousands of spies all over the territory of the Dragon Monarch, there wasn’t a single man in his empire who did not curse him.

Whether it was nobles, elites, or commoners, all cursed the King behind his back.

His actions were completely stupid and beyond the comprehension of the common as well as nobles of the empire. Why would their emperor mess with the Graveyard of Empires of all Empires around the six continents? There are hundreds of fish in the pond, yet their King dared to go after one target in the pond that he should not have gone after.

They had seen and heard time and time again the consequences of messing with the Dragon Monarch. Around a year back, the entire allied force, which had the strongest Empire in the Dying Isle Continent, still could not do anything to the dragon monarch or his territory.

Most predicted or thought that the conflict between the two parties would last for months, if not years. Both parties had enormous troops and resources to support a large-scale and long-term war.

But what happened?

The Dragon Monarch ended the war in his own style. He took things into his own hands and completely destroyed the enemy. He led attacks at the frontlines and destroyed their strongest cultivators.

He had been so overwhelming to the enemy side that the enemy Empire, or more specifically, the Oracle Alliance, had no choice but to hire assassins just to end his life.

But that was a year ago, and as a newly formed Empire, the army of the Dragon Monarch wasn’t that strong. But now things have greatly changed. Even without their Dragon Monarch, the Istarin Empire could crush their little empire within days.

There were strong rumours that the Istarin Empire had hundreds of flying ships that were capable of completely annihilating every single city of their empire, or any empire, with constant cannon attacks.

So the price for their King’s stupid act was paid with a great division. While someone wasn’t happy about this great division, the majority of the citizens were very happy and thrilled about the idea of becoming a part of the Istarin Empire.

Within days, the citizen started seeing great changes in their city, which affected their daily life, but not in a negative way, rather in a positive way.

Minimum wage was set for everyone, which meant that the rich and the nobles could not just exploit people from certain races and statuses to do certain jobs at a very low rate.

Taxes were lowered, which made everyone happy except for the nobles. Who wouldn’t want lower taxes, and that also comes with free school for their children and discounted healthcare for the entire family?

The moment they became a part of the Istarin Empire, the doors to thousands of opportunities opened up to them. Being a part of the empire, everything was cheaper and more affordable.

Another change that they noticed was that the moment the city became a part of the empire, all troops were sent to undergo a month and a half training so that these troops could fit the standard of the Istarin Troops.

For example, compared to the troops of other empires, the troops of the dragon monarch were more disciplined and motivated. There was no corruption, and if any kind of corruption was found in any of the troops, those troops would be immediately punished either by death or crippling cultivation.

Troops from the Capital came to the city and temporarily took the places and duties of those who were sent to training camp. Immediately, the city became much safer. Within a few days, there was a large crackdown on the local thugs and gangs of the city. Not only that, but theft and robbery also decreased by 90% within the first two weeks.

In a short period of over two months, the quality of life for every citizen took a huge leap forward. These days, one could hardly find any homeless people or beggars on the streets of the city.

Before there were even fights between groups of beggars over the right to control certain streets, more like the right to be back on those streets exclusively to them.

Life has become very peaceful and stable.

But that peaceful life did not last long. It was as if their peaceful life made evil beings jealous, and they sent a big Black Dragon to take their peace.

The Dragon spat out a large wave of golden flames.

The guards covered immediately made mana barriers to protect themselves, but the attack hit something invisible.

A transparent bubble-like barrier came into everyone’s view. Upon hitting the barrier, the golden flames dispersed or spread in all directions from the barrier.

”This is the barrier that our King personally made for us.” The soldiers became excited at the scene.

”As long as we are inside the city, we are safe.” The initial worries and fears that formed within the hearts of the new recruits disappeared. As for the experienced ones, they had seen and experienced far more intense and life-threatening things.

Unlike the new recruits, their expressions remained serious and focused.

At the same time, a warning in the form of a bell ringing sound rang all over the city. This was the warning to the citizens of this city that the city was under attack.

Hearing the warning sound, all four gates of the city were immediately closed. Those who stood in line and those who had just left the city immediately ran back into the city, as they knew the card wouldn’t wait a second longer for them to enter.

As a result, a few hundred people were stuck outside as they could not run fast enough or cover the distance fast enough to enter the city.

”Hey! Let us in!” The crowd looked at the black dragon in fear and then knocked on the gigantic doors of the city entrance with all their might.

The soldiers who closed the door looked at each other and were unsure of what to do.

The first protocol that they have been taught was to immediately close all gates whenever the city was under attack. The doors remain open, the number of casualties will significantly rise, or worse, the city’s defence might be breached.

”What should we do?”

”I don’t know.” The soldiers looked at each other with uneasy looks. On one hand, they did not want the people whom they swore to protect to die like this. Their deaths will be on their hands. But on the other hand, they did not want to break any protocols that they had been taught. Breaking it carried far greater risks and severe punishment once this was over.

Just then, the Captain appeared on top of the wall. He was in his office when the Dragon attacked.

”Open the doors slightly so that everyone can safely get inside. At the same time, engage and keep the black dragon busy.” His mana-infused voice spread to the ears of all soldiers. Seeing their Superior, everyone sighed in relief. With a lead, everything can be perfectly organised and coordinated.

”On my command, prepare to fire solar cannons.” Hearing this, the soldiers began to take off the clothes covering the solar cannons and began loading them. The newly improved solar cannons took 30 seconds to charge; otherwise, the attack wouldn’t be powerful enough.

”Archers and mages start firing arrows and spells. Keep the Black Dragon Busy.”

”Do not fear. The barrier that His Majesty created for us is strong enough to withstand its attacks.” Even attacks from multiple Peak 5th-order cultivators won’t be able to break the Defensive Barrier.

There were multiple of these machines placed facing the Black Dragon. Just as the Captain commanded, the machines that could fire up to thousands of arrows at once fired simultaneously.

The moment these arrows were fired, the black Dragon’s vision was filled with countless arrows. To it, it felt like the entire sky itself was filled with countless small bugs that were rapidly heading towards him.

Seeing the Dragon flinched for a brief moment before flapping its wings. With a powerful flap of its wings, the arrow was blown away by the overwhelming gust of wind.

But then almost 50 arrows charged with mana got through the gust of wind and hit him.

But these arrows did no damage. At most, the Dragon felt someone was tickling him.

Then the next wave of attack followed. Hundreds of different kinds of spells hit the Black Dragon at once. This resulted in an explosion. The soldiers relaxed, thinking that this had somewhat worked.

”Don’t get too happy. This is a Peak 5th-order Dragon. Attacks like this, at most, if we are lucky, will leave a few scratches on its scales.” The captain’s words poured cold water on the soldiers, causing their expressions to turn grim.

It was just as the captain had predicted that when the smoke cleared by a powerful gust of wind, they saw no visible damage on the body of a black Dragon.

”No way!”

”No damage at all!!”

”I suspect that even among Peak 5th-order powerhouses, this Dragon would stand far above the rest, easily outclassing others of the same rank.” Because even a normal Peak 5th-order would at least show signs of getting damaged after being hit by this many attacks.

And these spells were mostly fired by Beginner 5th-order and Peak 4th-order soldiers.

”No worries!!”

”Solar Cannons, prepare to fire on my command.” A golden energy orb formed at the mouth of the black cannons. With each passing second, the golden orb’s energy concentration kept getting higher and higher.

But the Black Dragon wasn’t going to allow that. Before coming here, the Ancient Dragon had been informed about these strange cannons.

The Massive Dragon opened with its mouth and began to condense a diamond-shaped Golden Flame for a massive attack.

”Fire!!!!”

Five solar Cannons fired at the Black Dragon at once. All five solar beams combined to form one powerful beam. The light from the beam was so strong that the soldiers standing on the walls and watching from below felt like they were seeing a miniature sun above their city.

Booooooooooooooom!!!!!
