Medical and Martial God

Chapter 383: Chapter 383: Internet Celebrity Killer

Ye Xiu stared at the jeep driver, not saying a word. The driver felt his skin crawl under the intense gaze and finally asked, ”Are you the Xuanse Medicine King, Ye Xiu?”

Ye Xiu didn’t answer, continuing to just look at the man, giving him the distinct feeling of being seen right through.

The driver quickly explained, ”My car broke down and went out of control. I really didn’t cause the accident on purpose.”

Still, Ye Xiu said nothing, his eyes fixed on the jeep driver.

”Why the hell do you keep staring at me?” the jeep driver finally snapped. ”Even if I did cause the accident, you should be taking me to the Patrol Bureau! What right does a doctor have to interrogate me?”

At last, Ye Xiu spoke, pinching the pill between his fingers. ”This is a Three-Day Soul Severing Pill. Until this moment, I thought I was the only person in the world who could concoct such a poison. The fact that you carry it on you means you were prepared to commit suicide at a moment’s notice. Come clean. Who sent you to deliberately cause this crash?”

So that’s what this pill is called... a Three-Day Soul Severing Pill, the jeep driver thought, but aloud he said, ”I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

Ye Xiu picked up the toothpick dispenser from the coffee table, pulled one out, and with a flick of his finger, shot it into the jeep driver’s left kneecap. The bamboo toothpick sank halfway into the man’s knee, a testament to Ye Xiu’s immense strength.

”ARGH...”

The agony of a pierced kneecap was no less than that of a broken bone. The driver let out a pained shriek, nearly collapsing. Yet, he gritted his teeth through the pain and insisted, ”I really don’t know anything about the pill, and the accident wasn’t intentional. The jeep malfunctioned... ARGH!”

Before he could finish his sentence, Ye Xiu flicked another toothpick, embedding it in the man’s right kneecap. He screamed again and collapsed to the floor.

”I have dozens more toothpicks here, so there’s no rush. You can take your time with your excuses while I shoot them into you, one by one. Next are the wrists, then the elbows, the left eye, the right eye, the groin...” Ye Xiu said calmly, dumping the remaining toothpicks onto the coffee table and leisurely playing with one.

A cold dread washed over the jeep driver. He wasn’t afraid of death; in fact, he had been prepared to die the moment he accepted the mission. What he feared was torture. The thought of being riddled with toothpicks while being kept alive was a devastating psychological blow.

”After I run out of toothpicks, I’ll have someone bring some needles,” Ye Xiu continued, his voice even. ”This is a hospital, after all. We have plenty. I’ll insert them into the tips of your ten fingers and ten toes, letting your blood drip out drop by drop until you’re completely drained. Then, I’ll have someone give you a blood transfusion so we can start the process all over again...”

”No, no...” The driver completely broke down, howling, ”I’ll talk! I’ll talk! I’ll tell you everything I know! Please, just stop torturing me!”

”Then speak,” Ye Xiu said, pouring himself a cup of tea and taking a sip.

”It was Ling Yun! He paid me to cause the accident,” the driver blurted out. ”He promised me five million, and if I died, he’d give my family twenty million.”

”Who is Ling Yun?” Ye Xiu asked.

”You don’t even know who Ling Yun is?” The jeep driver stared at him as if he were an alien, then, quickly realizing his impolite tone, hastily continued, ”Ling Yun is the number one young master of Jin Ye City. He also has a nickname: the ’Internet Celebrity Slayer’.”

Heh, Ye Xiu genuinely had never heard of this Ling Yun. He took out his phone and sent a message to Gong Jin: ”Send me all the information on Ling Yun. Also, find out where he is right now.”

The information from Gong Jin arrived almost instantly.

Ye Xiu was astonished after reading it. This Ling Yun was the undisputed king of scumbags, changing girlfriends more often than he changed his clothes. His background, however, was mysterious. He had arrived in Jin Ye City alone at the age of eighteen and founded an investment company. In just five years, the company’s market value had soared to 15 billion, making him a prodigy in the business world.

But why would someone like that suddenly target Shenghe Hospital? And where did he get a Three-Day Soul Severing Pill?

Ye Xiu sent a text to Qing Luan: ”Do you know anything about Ling Yun’s background?”

Qing Luan’s reply was swift: ”Ling Yun is from the Ling Family of Han Jin City.”

Oh? So the Three-Day Soul Severing Pill must have come from Medicine King Valley. I wonder if the Ling Family is in league with the Long Family.

Just then, a new message from Gong Jin arrived: ”Ling Yun met Kong Ruoruo at Starlight KTV last night. They made plans to go shopping and see a movie this afternoon. He’s driving now, most likely on his way to Jin Ye City University to find Ruoruo. Also, Ling Yun’s car was spotted near Shenghe Hospital earlier.”

Ling Yun is after Ruoruo?

Ye Xiu was furious.「Jin Ye City University」

Kong Ruoruo was on the athletic field watching a soccer game. While most other girls preferred guys who played basketball, she had a taste for the more violent sport of soccer.

Just then, her phone buzzed. It was a text from Ye Xiu: ”Ruoruo, this Ling Yun guy is extremely dangerous. He’s approaching you with ulterior motives. Be careful!”

Ling Yun? It took Kong Ruoruo a moment to even recall who that was. She cockily replied, ”Don’t worry, Cousin. Your little cousin here has plenty of tricks up her sleeve; it won’t be that easy to trick me.”

Right after she hit send, her phone rang. It was Ling Yun.

”Ruoruo, my dear, I hope you haven’t forgotten our plans from last night to go shopping and see a movie this afternoon.”

Heh, I forgot who you even were, how could I possibly remember some polite platitudes from last night? Kong Ruoruo thought, but she replied in a saccharine tone, ”Of course I haven’t forgotten! Are you coming to pick me up so we can go together?”

”I’m on my way to Jin Ye City University now,” Ling Yun said.

”Great, I’m at the athletic field. Come find me here,” she said sweetly. After hanging up, she immediately sent a text to Ye Xiu: ”Ling Yun is coming to find me at the athletic field now.”

Twenty minutes later, Ye Xiu arrived. He had ignored all traffic laws and red lights, speeding the entire way. Coupled with his superb driving skills, he managed to arrive a step ahead of Ling Yun.

”Cousin, why did you come in person? You could have just sent someone to crush a nobody like him,” Kong Ruoruo asked cheerfully.

”I came to see if you’ve been staying out of trouble at school,” Ye Xiu said, taking a seat beside her.

”Tch. You’re the Xuanse Medicine King. Even if I wanted to cause trouble, I wouldn’t want to embarrass you,” Kong Ruoruo pouted.

Just then, Ye Xiu saw the impeccably dressed Ling Yun approaching them with a smile.

Ling Yun saw Ye Xiu as well, though he didn’t recognize him, as Ye Xiu was wearing a mask, sunglasses, and a baseball cap. However, seeing another man sitting next to his target greatly annoyed him.

How dare someone try to steal a woman from me? He must be courting death!
