Chapter 382: Chapter 382: Poisoning Just to Pick Up Girls

”Has anyone unfamiliar come into the kitchen?” Ye Xiu’s eyes, as sharp as knives, swept across the petrified chefs as he asked in a cold voice.

”No, no one. The back kitchen is off-limits to outsiders,” the head chef said, trembling.

Ye Xiu stared at the head chef for three seconds. The man didn’t seem to be lying, and the other chefs, frozen with fear, were clearly not faking it. So, Ye Xiu began to inspect everything in the kitchen, eventually zeroing in on the soup base. The poisoner must have put the poison in there.

How strange. If the poisoner didn’t enter the back kitchen, how did they manage to poison the soup?

Just then, An Dongye called. ”Little Brother, I caught a sneaky-looking waiter at the back door! He knows Kung Fu, but one kick from me was enough to daze him!”

Ye Xiu hurried to the back door, only to see a male waiter sprawling on the ground.

”It’s him!” An Dongye pointed at the waiter, looking proud of her accomplishment. It was only then that she realized why Ye Xiu had sent her to the back door—he had already anticipated that the culprit would try to escape this way.

My Little Brother is so clever!

”Why did you poison the hotpot restaurant’s soup base?” Ye Xiu demanded coldly.

The waiter lay on the ground, silent.

Ye Xiu frowned. He quickly knelt and turned the waiter over, only to find the man bleeding from all seven orifices. He was already dead.

”Dead?” An Dongye was completely baffled. She glanced nervously at Ye Xiu and said, ”I... I just kicked him lightly. He... he was so fragile...”

”He committed suicide by taking poison,” Ye Xiu said solemnly. To commit suicide immediately upon capture... this hotpot restaurant poisoning is more complicated than it seems.

”Suicide?” An Dongye was utterly confused. ”Why would he kill himself?”

Ye Xiu shook his head, indicating he didn’t know.

At that moment, Qing Luan called. ”There’s just been a major traffic accident. It’s closest to Shenghe Hospital. Could you please notify the hospital to prepare to receive patients immediately?”

Ye Xiu was startled. The hotpot restaurant was very close to Shenghe Hospital, and the accident had also occurred nearby. Could this be a coincidence?

He said, ”Give me the details of the accident.”

Qing Luan explained, ”A jeep lost control and went on a rampage, causing a pile-up involving dozens of cars. Some overturned or crashed into the side of the road. A full passenger bus and a public bus were among them.”

”Take control of the jeep driver immediately. Check his mouth and body for poison, and then bring him to Shenghe Hospital,” Ye Xiu ordered sternly.

”Okay!” Qing Luan replied.

Ye Xiu hung up and was about to put his phone in his pocket when the Ghost Doctor suddenly called.

”Master, within a five-mile radius of Shenghe Hospital, there have been poisoning incidents at over a dozen restaurants, diners, coffee shops, and bubble tea shops. I feel like something isn’t right...”

Again, it’s near Shenghe Hospital. It looks like this is a conspiracy specifically targeting it.

So, Ye Xiu told the Ghost Doctor about the car accident and had him arrange to receive the patients.

After hanging up, he said to An Dongye, ”Looks like we won’t be having hotpot. I have to get back to Shenghe Hospital right away.”

”Saving people is more important,” An Dongye said.

Ye Xiu nodded. They ran to the front of the restaurant and first interrogated the people Murong had knocked out. After confirming there were no further issues, the three of them rushed back to Shenghe Hospital.

On the roof of a high-rise building a few hundred meters from Shenghe Hospital, two men stood. One was an exquisitely dressed and handsome young man in his early twenties. The other was an ordinary-looking but dignified middle-aged man with a sword in his hand.

”Mr. Yin, what do you think of my move?” the young man asked with a smile, holding a pair of binoculars and gazing at Shenghe Hospital.

”It’s too obvious,” said the sword-wielding middle-aged man known as Mr. Yin. ”Even a fool can see you’re targeting Shenghe Hospital.”

”Ye Xiu thinks so too,” the young man said with a smug smile.

Yin Tianxi was taken aback. ”Isn’t Young Master Ling targeting Shenghe Hospital?”

”Of course not!” Ling Yun laughed, a look of wisdom on his face. ”I have two purposes for doing this.

”First, Ye Xiu and the Bao Family have joined forces to enter the medical field, and I want a piece of the action. However, I know Ye Xiu won’t cooperate with me. So, the night before last, I met Ye Xiu’s cousin, Kong Ruoruo, at a KTV.

”With my skills at picking up girls, I can win Kong Ruoruo over in three days at most. Then, as her boyfriend, I’ll first build a good relationship with Ye Xiu. When the time is right, I’ll propose a collaboration.

”But I didn’t expect Ye Xiu to suddenly return from Qingfeng Road. If he knew I was in contact with Kong Ruoruo, he’d never allow me to pursue her, given my reputation in Jin Ye City.

”Now that I’ve sent so many patients his way, Ye Xiu has no time to worry about Kong Ruoruo. By the time he’s free again, I’ll have already won her over.”

Yin Tianxi understood. The grand spectacle Ling Yun created today was merely to keep Ye Xiu busy, preventing him from interfering with his pursuit of Kong Ruoruo. How clever! At this moment, Ye Xiu was probably still wracking his brain, wondering why the enemy was targeting Shenghe Hospital. He would soon be swamped with countless patients, never suspecting Ling Yun’s true motive.

”And the second purpose?” Yin Tianxi asked.

”The second purpose, of course, is to help you,” Ling Yun said with a smile. ”The Long Family sent you to Jin Ye City to retrieve Huang Quan’s corpse. With Ye Xiu’s insight, intellect, and perceptiveness, he would definitely guess that the Long Family would use the Huang Quan Badao battle as cover to send someone to infiltrate Jin Ye City. Now that I’ve created so much trouble for him, he won’t have time to dwell on that.”

Yin Tianxi was sincerely impressed. ”Brilliant!” he praised.

”Alright, I’m off to Jin Ye City University to see Kong Ruoruo. I promised her last night that I’d take her shopping and to a movie this afternoon,” Ling Yun said with a stretch and a laugh.

Yin Tianxi didn’t follow. Watching Ling Yun’s devil-may-care retreating figure, a smirk of disdain and ridicule curled his lip. The Long Family had sent him to Jin Ye City not just to retrieve Huang Quan’s corpse, but also to find an opportunity to kill Ye Xiu and bring his body back as well. Of course, this was something Yin Tianxi would never tell Ling Yun.

「Shenghe Hospital」

Ye Xiu sat in the director’s office, smoking and lost in thought.

He hadn’t participated in treating the patients. Although there were many poisoned individuals, one Hundred Poisons Pill each was enough to solve the problem. As for those injured in the car accident, Shenghe Hospital had gathered the top experts in the country, and with the Ghost Doctor personally overseeing things, there was no need for him to intervene.

If Ling Yun knew this, he would probably cough up blood on the spot. He had gone to so much trouble just to keep Ye Xiu busy, and it had all been for nothing.

KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK!

”Come in!” Ye Xiu called out.

The office door opened, and a Patrol Officer escorted in a man covered in blood.

”H— I mean, Divine Doctor Ye, this is the jeep driver who caused the pile-up.”

”I found a Medicinal Pill on him. This is it!”

Saying this, he handed Ye Xiu a black Medicinal Pill.

”Thank you for your trouble. You can leave him here and get back to your duties,” Ye Xiu said politely.
