Medical and Martial God

Chapter 356: Chapter 356: With Sword in Hand, I Ask Who is the Hero Under Heaven

”I’m not fighting you!” Da Wang refused outright. ”I’m a bounty hunter. First, I haven’t received a mission to kill you. Second, no one has offered me money to kill you, so it would be a complete loss for me to do it.”

Ha, pretty principled, huh!

”There’s a 200 million gold bounty for my left arm. You must have heard of it, right?” Ye Xiu asked. ”Kill me, and you can take my left arm to Panlong Pavilion to claim the reward.”

Da Wang took a puff from his cigar. ”Alright, you can go home. I’ll find some time to kill you later.”

”Why not now?” Ye Xiu asked.

”Have you ever heard of a bounty hunter killing someone head-on? We specialize in assassinations—by blade, poison, or staged accidents. Killing you face-to-face would be a stain on my professional record,” Da Wang explained.

Ye Xiu and Leng Yue scoffed. This guy’s brain really isn’t normal. His train of thought is completely different from a normal person’s.

”I don’t have time to wait around for you!” Ye Xiu flashed forward, charging at Da Wang.

”Hey, you’re playing dirty!” Da Wang complained as he was forced to fight back. ”Fine, I might as well kill you now. I just won’t tell anyone. That way, no one will know a bounty hunter killed someone head-on.”

He acted as if he didn’t take Ye Xiu seriously, as though he could kill him whenever he pleased. With that, he switched from defense to offense, swinging his large machete in wide, sweeping arcs. His attacks were fierce and domineering.

After fighting for a moment, Ye Xiu said with disappointment, ”The first ’god’ created by the Fire Seed Company is merely a Peak Great Grandmaster?” As he spoke, he smashed a fist into Da Wang’s nose.

Da Wang was sent flying backward, blood spraying everywhere as Ye Xiu’s punch flattened his nose.

”Pretty impressive!” Da Wang’s eyes shone with excitement. ”What kind of fist technique is that?”

Ye Xiu thought for a moment. ”Iron Fist.”

”A great technique!” Da Wang praised. Suddenly, a series of CRACKS and POPS echoed from his body as he began to transform. At the same time, fine, gray-black hair sprouted across the exposed skin on his face, neck, hands, and arms.

”A Werewolf?” Ye Xiu clicked his tongue in admiration. ”The Fire Seed Company is truly remarkable. To think they actually cracked the secret of human-animal gene fusion.”

Leng Yue walked over and commented, ”Da Wang’s werewolf transformation seems different from the Wolf Tribe of Zhaoyang Country.”

Ye Xiu explained, ”The Wolf Tribe of Zhaoyang Country are Mutants who evolved perfectly over countless generations of genetic mutation. The principle is similar to that behind the Mohei Family’s Purple Pupil mutation. I haven’t yet figured out the principle behind Da Wang’s transformation.”

”AWOOOO...”

Just then, Da Wang completed his transformation. He threw his head back and let out an exaggerated howl.

”GAHAHAHA, YE XIU, DIE...” he roared, charging forward.

His towering, three-meter-tall body was like a humanoid tank. The very ground trembled as he ran, unleashing an invisible wave of berserk pressure toward Ye Xiu.

Seeing this, Ye Xiu’s eyes lit up. He could finally test just how strong this monster created by the Fire Seed Company really was.

Just then, the unexpected happened!

A figure in white appeared before the werewolf Da Wang, plunging a sword through his heart.

”What the hell...” Ye Xiu gasped in frustration, snapping, ”Who the hell are you? Who told you to kill him?”

As he spoke, he sized up the man’s back. He had long, shoulder-length hair and wore a white robe, his posture tall and straight. He looks just like an ancient scholar!

”With sword in hand, I ask who in the world is a true hero!” the mysterious man declared proudly, his back still to Ye Xiu.

What arrogance!

”Who are you?” Ye Xiu asked.

”If Heaven had not birthed me, Dong Fangbai, the Xuanse would have languished in eternal night,” the mysterious man said, still not turning around.

Ye Xiu and Leng Yue exchanged a look, wondering which mental asylum had failed to lock its doors and let this lunatic out.

”Your name is Dong Fangbai?” Leng Yue asked.

”Mere ants are not worthy of knowing my name.”

With a haughty cry, Dong Fangbai pulled his sword from Da Wang’s body, sheathed it with a flourish, and leaped away. After a few bounds, he disappeared from Ye Xiu and Leng Yue’s sight.

Is this guy insane? He’s actually hopping away!

”Follow him! Find out who he is!” Ye Xiu ordered. This man was a complete mystery, and his strength surpassed that of a War God. Ye Xiu had to confirm his identity.

”Understood!” Leng Yue nodded and dashed off in pursuit.

Ye Xiu walked over to Da Wang, who had now reverted to his human form.

”You Xuanse people have no martial honor!” Da Wang uttered. With that, his head tilted to the side, and he died with his eyes wide open.

”What a pity.” Ye Xiu sighed and gently closed Da Wang’s eyes. He glanced at the time. Jin Peng’s birthday banquet was about to start. If he didn’t show up, Jin Peng probably wouldn’t let it begin.

「At the Wanli Hotel!」

All the guests who had come to wish Jin Peng a happy birthday were already seated.

”Elder Jin, shouldn’t the banquet begin?” someone asked. After all, everyone had already given their birthday wishes. The next step was for the food and drinks to be served, after which Jin Peng would go from table to table to offer his thanks.

”No hurry, a distinguished guest has yet to arrive,” Jin Peng said with a beaming smile.

Hearing this, all the guests who hadn’t met Ye Xiu at Jin Peng’s house grew displeased. A murmur of discontent spread through the banquet hall.

”What esteemed guest is so important they’d make the birthday boy himself wait?”

”This is ridiculous, making all of us wait around.”

”He’s making all of us wait for one person. Clearly, in Jin Peng’s heart, that person is more important than all of us combined.”

”We all came to celebrate his birthday, but Jin Peng is making us wait for nothing. He’s looking down on us.”

The Jin Family was only a minor wealthy family with assets in the low billions. Aside from the out-of-town guests hoping to meet Ye Xiu through Jin Peng, most of the attendees were not of high status. Some had simply contributed a token sum of money to freeload on the food and drinks. For instance, Xia Dehe, the Sect Leader of the Heavenly Dragon Sect, was little more than a peasant who had brought a few pounds of eggs as a birthday gift.

”Dad, it’s getting late. I don’t think Divine Doctor Ye is coming. Should I tell the kitchen to start serving? The guests are already complaining,” Jin Ming whispered.

”If Divine Doctor Ye said he would come, then he will come,” Jin Peng chided softly. ”If we serve the dishes now, would you have him eat leftovers when he arrives? Don’t worry. They may be grumbling now, but their complaints will vanish the moment Divine Doctor Ye arrives.”

”Should I have Jin Lian give Divine Doctor Ye a call?” Jin Ming suggested.

”Absolutely not,” Jin Peng refused. ”We wait another half hour. If Divine Doctor Ye isn’t here by then, we’ll serve the food.”

”Alright,” Jin Ming nodded.

”Elder Jin, what’s the meaning of this?” At that moment, a fat man with slicked-back hair and a thick gold chain around his neck waddled over, his flesh jiggling. ”I, Zhou Wenlong, turned down five or six dinners just to be here for your birthday, and you have me sitting at an empty table? Who the hell is so important that I, Zhou Wenlong, should have to wait for them?”

Seeing Zhou Wenlong confront Jin Peng, the faces of the guests from Qingfeng Road clouded with worry. Zhou Wenlong was the underground Emperor of Qingfeng Road and had always been domineering. His outburst threatened to capsize Jin Peng’s entire birthday banquet.
