An indescribable sorrow overwhelmed Lu Ye. It was as if he was about to lose something important, but the feeling didn’t come from his heart. Instead, it was from Ye Six, his current identity.

He wanted to retract his hand, but he was unable to do so. Although Ye Liuli didn’t exert much force on her hand, she made sure their hands were inseparable. “Let go.”

Ye Liuli looked up at him, her face already covered in tears. She only shook her head and put on a smile. “Sixth Brother, I can’t hold out any longer. I’m glad that you’ve finally come to me. This is the last thing I can do for you. The path ahead of you is still very long, so you have to keep on going.”

The flame that had covered them receded and disappeared. As that happened, Ye Liuli’s figure turned translucent. She rose to her feet and turned around, looking at the animated Sun. Her sigh showed that she was reluctant to leave all of this behind. Then, her top slid down her figure, revealing her blemish-free back.

Lu Ye looked up and was shocked, for the birthmark on her back appeared different now. Initially, the birthmark looked like a hideous centipede, which was identical to the Heavenly Gully in the northernmost area. The only difference was its size.

But at this moment, the birthmark was surrounded by many abstruse patterns, which corresponded to the laws of Heavens. When Lu Ye looked at the patterns, he was stunned. Realising something, he said, “These…”

Ye Liuli replied gently, “I’m sure that given your capabilities, you’ll be able to achieve it.” Suddenly, she turned around and smiled. “Thank you, Sixth Brother.”

As soon as she finished speaking, her translucent figure became transparent, then turned into dots of light that flew towards the sky.

Lu Ye stepped forward to grab her, but she had already disappeared, only leaving behind her clothes that were still warm.

“Liuli!” Yi Yi exclaimed. She had been flustered since such a transformation happened to Ye Liuli. She didn’t expect that the young girl, who had been keeping her company since her arrival at Soaring Dragon Boundary, would dissipate into the air just like this.

“What’s going on? What happened to her?” Yi Yi turned to look at Lu Ye, then her eyes widened in disbelief. “You…”

She could see that Lu Ye no longer looked aged and clumsy. He was on his last legs just a moment ago, but now, he was lively and energetic, and even his grey hair had turned dark. It could be said that he had never looked better.

Just now, Lu Ye and Ye Liuli were covered in a flame, so Yi Yi couldn’t see what was going on inside. Then, she was distracted by what happened to the young girl, so she didn’t notice Lu Ye’s transformation until now.

“Have you recovered?” Yi Yi asked in a trembling voice, worried that what she saw was just an illusion.

She was mournful over the loss of Ye Liuli, but at the same time, she was elated that Lu Ye had recovered. The two vastly different feelings clashed in her heart, overwhelming her with a myriad of emotions, almost making it hard for her to stand stably.

More than anything else, she was doubtful. Even the Divine Healer was unable to help Lu Ye, so how did Ye Liuli manage to heal the man? Although she had suggested that Lu Ye return to Jiu Zhou, she knew that even if they did, things wouldn’t be optimistic. Even powerful cultivators were unable to help a person with an exhausted Source.

As Yi Yi recalled what had happened, she came to the realisation that Lu Ye’s recovery had something to do with Ye Liuli’s disappearance. Many questions turned over in her mind, but it wasn’t the right time to ask Lu Ye about it.

Atop Sungazing Peak, Lu Ye held onto Ye Liuli’s clothes which were the evidence that she once lived in this world. It never crossed his mind that the young girl, who had been calling him ‘Sixth Brother’, was that kind of being.

He had never realised it until Ye Liuli took his hand and infused the gentle force into his body. Only when his exhausted Source was replenished did he come to his senses. That was because some indescribable abstrusity also came to him alongside the gentle force.

Ye Liuli wasn’t just the Daughter of Tyrant Blade Manor and Ye Six’s Sister. Her other identity was the carrier of the World’s Will.

It was no wonder that the birthmark on her back looked identical to the Heavenly Gully. It was also no wonder that anything that happened to the Heavenly Gully would be perfectly reflected on her figure. That was because she was the carrier of Soaring Dragon Boundary’s Will.

Many things Lu Ye didn’t understand in the past finally fell into place.

His Source was depleted after he activated the Dragon Throne. Even if they managed to return to Jiu Zhou, no one would be able to help him, let alone the Divine Healer. That was the reason he didn’t attempt to go back to Jiu Zhou, for he knew that if he did, it would only make Shui Yuan and the Sect Master sad.

The only thing that could save him was the power of another Source. For example, the Source of this world. The last bit of the World’s Source was infused into Lu Ye through Ye Liuli, replenishing his exhaustion and pulling him back from death’s door.

Now, it seemed that when Ye Liuli suggested that they leave the Valley of Medicine to look around, she didn’t do it for Lu Ye; it was for herself. She had already made up her mind. Knowing that her days were numbered, she wanted to take a good look at this world before she passed away. Nonetheless, she didn’t fulfil her wish in the end.

The Sun had risen past the peak, and it was now up in the sky. The voice of the young girl calling him ‘Sixth Brother’ seemed to echo in his ears, but the petite figure, who always followed him around, was nowhere in sight.

At that moment, he realised he was the one who had to walk down the rest of the path on his own instead. He kept Ye Liuli’s clothes and said gently, “Yi Yi, let’s go back to the Valley of Medicine.”

Yi Yi hummed in response.

A moment later, a ray of light departed from Sungazing Peak and headed towards the Valley of Medicine. While on their way, Lu Ye told Yi Yi what he knew of Ye Liuli.

There were no secrets between the two of them. Compared to his time in Soaring Dragon Boundary, Yi Yi was the one who had spent the longest time with Ye Liuli. The two of them were around the same age, and they had developed a deep fondness for each other.

“Since Liuli was the carrier of the World’s Will, was she still Liuli?” Yi Yi asked through choked sobs.

“She was Liuli. The cultivators of Soaring Dragon Boundary knew nothing about Blood Boundary and Blood Race, but the World’s Will must be aware of their presence. However, it’s not a living creature, so it doesn’t have a mind that allows it to think. When it sensed danger, it reacted instinctively by planting its Will inside Ye Liuli and was born with her.”

When Lu Ye cast the astonishing attack beneath the Heavenly Gully back then, he could feel that this world had its own Will. Nonetheless, the Will wasn’t clear; it was in a vague state, so it couldn’t make some judgements as Humans did.

But when it chose Ye Liuli as a carrier and was born with her, the young girl could do all of those things. For example, she could exhaust herself to save Lu Ye. Therefore, Ye Liuli was herself. Even though she was the carrier of the World’s Will, no one could deny her existence.

That said, Lu Ye still didn’t understand why the World’s Will had chosen Ye Liuli. It was his first time coming into contact with something as abstruse as that. At the end of the day, he was just a Cloud River Realm Master.

Also, he was concerned about something Ye Liuli had said before she was gone. She said that she had been waiting for years, and she couldn’t hold out any longer. Although Lu Ye had some speculation in mind, no one could answer his questions. That remained a regret in his heart.

Upon hearing that, Yi Yi was grateful for what Ye Liuli had done, but at the same time, she was sorrowful that her companion was gone. Since Ye Liuli had made a decision, Yi Yi decided to let bygones be bygones.

In the Valley of Medicine, Huang Liang and Yuan Changcun stood shoulder to shoulder as they looked in the Heavenly Gully’s direction.

As Yuan Changcun related what had happened at Tyrant Blade Manor, Huang Liang was furious as he said through gritted teeth, “Those people were a bunch of rubbish! Good riddance!”

Their lives had been saved in the face of a calamity. However, not only were they ungrateful, but they even tried to harm Lu Ye to snatch the Dragon Throne away. Although Huang Liang was aware that there were evil people out there, he was still incensed when such a thing happened.

Some ungrateful people in the world didn’t deserve to stay alive.

“He must have suffered a lot.” Huang Liang sighed.

“All the suffering has come to an end. I’m sure he’s been relieved of his pain.” When Yuan Changcun saw Lu Ye at Tyrant Blade Manor, he realised the young man’s vitality was like candlelight amidst the storm that would be put out at any moment.

Considering his condition, he couldn’t even live past that night. Now that three to four days had passed, there was no way he was still alive.

Huang Liang became sorrowful upon hearing that. “All of us in Soaring Dragon Boundary owe him a huge favour. If we manage to weather the storm this time, we should build a monument for him and spread his heroic tale so that future generations will remember his contributions to this world.”

“That’s for sure.” Yuan Changcun certainly wouldn’t object to it.

The word ‘saviour’ was usually found only in legends. Much to their surprise, they had witnessed the act of a saviour in their lifetimes. Unfortunately, the saviour didn’t enjoy a long life.

When a ray of light approached them from a distance, they didn’t pay attention to it. Many cultivators had been moving around the Valley of Medicine as of late, so they just thought that a cultivator was returning from the Heavenly Gully.

However, both of them were stunned when they took a glance at it, and they quickly turned to look at the ray of light.

Huang Liang’s eyes widened as disbelief was written all over his face. Even an accomplished Sword Cultivator like Yuan Changcun parted his lips in amazement. The Sword Cry sounding from his body showed how agitated he was.

The ray of light soon landed in front of them. The light dissipated and revealed two figures. Lu Ye stepped forward and saluted them. “Greetings, Seniors.”

Huang Liang pointed at him. “Aren’t you…”

He almost spurted, “Aren’t you dead?” Fortunately, he soon realised it was rude to ask such a question, but the shock deep within made it impossible for him to continue speaking.
