Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 151, Senior Sister Drives Fast, Hold On Tight

Translator: Silavin

Senior Sister got serious and said, “Don’t worry about owing me any favours. I’m richer than you think. This Enchantment Scroll really isn’t a big deal for me. Didn’t you say before that I treat you like you’re my Little Brother? So, buying something for my Little Brother is only natural, right?”

Seeing this Senior Sister speak so casually about money, Lu Fan could not help but suspect her background was even greater than he had imagined. [To brush off a No Level Requirement Enchantment Scroll as nothing, just what kind of Family background would allow someone to talk like that? Even Qin Qiu, the rich heiress of the Qin Family, dare not speak so casually about spending such a sum…]

Even if she was really extremely wealthy, Lu Fan still felt uncomfortable just accepting such a valuable gift. He pondered for a moment, about to politely decline. However, when she saw through his intentions, she exasperatedly covered her forehead and stated. “You really are… Why can’t you just accept what I want to give you? Fine, how about this: consider this scroll as me lending you the money to buy it. You can pay me back later when you get the sum back. If you can’t even accept that, then I’ll just leave. You might not get another chance like this to buy a No Level Requirement Enchantment Scroll. It’s not like people always put them up for auction.”

She paused, then lowered her voice and continued, “As a teacher at the University, I’ve recently received news that before long, a Special Envoy will be coming to our Dragon Capital University to evaluate how strong you are. If you can’t pass his test, you won’t be qualified to represent Dragon Country in the National Trial. You wouldn’t want to miss this opportunity you’ve worked so hard for, right?”

Lu Fan was shocked to hear this. “Senior Sister, how do you know I’m supposed to represent Dragon Country in the National Trial Secret Realm?”

She made a smug smile and replied, “I’m a teacher of high rank at Dragon Capital University. Is it strange for me to know about this? Anyways, I’m willing to lend you the money to buy this Enchantment Scroll. So, are you going to take it or not?”

Her words made Lu Fan pause for a while, pondering over his options. [If it is just borrowing money, I guess I can accept it. With my abilities, I should be able to earn a lot of money after graduating. So, paying her back should not be an issue. Right now, I have a No Level Requirement Enchantment Scroll in front of me but no money in my pocket. Borrowing to buy is clearly the best option right now.]

Lu Fan decided to stop being polite and grinned at her, saying. “In that case, Senior Sister, I won’t stand on ceremony. But, I’ll definitely pay you back later.”

“Whatever you like!” She said so casually, as if the cost of a No Level Requirement Enchantment Scroll was nothing to her.

As they spoke, the two of them arrived at Dragon Capital University’s parking lot. Although many people in this world had Mounts, cars were still very practical for getting around. There were quite a few luxury cars in the parking lot. Lu Fan had assumed his wealthy Senior Sister would take him to some fancy sports car, but after walking a bit further, she stopped in front of a heavy motorcycle. She straddled it, and turned the key.

Looking at the motorcycle, Lu Fan’s eyebrows twitched. He really did not expect such a mature Senior Sister to ride a heavy bike instead of driving a luxury sports car.

As she started the motorcycle and saw Lu Fan still standing there, she gave him a questioning look and said. “What are you waiting for? Get on. Don’t tell me your Agility and Endurance Attributes are so high you want to race my two wheels with your two legs?”

“Uh…” Lu Fan certainly did not want to waste time by chasing a motorcycle. So, after hearing Senior Sister say that, he coughed and also straddled the bike.

Suddenly, the two of them were pressed close together.

Lu Fan felt extremely awkward, but the Senior Sister did not seem to mind. Instead, she took Lu Fan’s hands and placed them on her waist, instructing. “Hold onto my tight. My bike is custom made. It is extremely fast. If you fall off, I won’t come back to pick you up.”

Lu Fan’s face turned bright red as he awkwardly followed her instructions and held on tight from behind.

Just as Senior Sister was about to take off, Lu Fan hurriedly asked: “Senior Sister, aren’t we going to wear helmets?”

She turned her head, making eye contact with Lu Fan, just inches away and seriously questioned. “With your high Endurance, isn’t your head harder than a helmet?”

Lu Fan realised he was overthinking things. This world was not like his previous one. While the motorcycle looked dangerous, in reality, crashing at high speed would probably do less damage than a Mage’s Fireball.

Just as Lu Fan had this thought, the motorcycle suddenly roared to life, causing him to quickly tightly grab onto the Senior Sister to avoid falling off.

Dragon Capital University’s campus was huge, with wide roads. Naturally, Senior Sister was able to speed along with Lu Fan without issue. Sometimes, Knights would even ride their Mounts to class to avoid being late. So, a motorcycle racing by was not anything out of the ordinary.

This motorcycle had clearly been modified, as it was faster than any vehicle Lu Fan had seen in his previous life. But, as a Silver Dragon Rider, Lu Fan was at least able to stay seated. Otherwise, how could he expect to ride a Dragon in the future?

Soon, the Senior Sister had taken Lu Fan out of Dragon Capital University. After about half an hour, they arrived in Dragon Capital City.

Finally, she stopped in front of an incredibly grand building, and parked her motorcycle in a spot.

The building was located at a busy intersection in a commercial district, with a huge amount of foot traffic. The entire structure had a very distinctive style that drew attention. Several massive gold characters on the building spelled out ‘Prosperous Heaven Auction House’.

Although Lu Fan had been in Dragon Capital for a while, he had mostly stayed at the University to Level Up. So far, he had only left campus twice to claim Treasure Maps. So, he was not very familiar with how prosperous the city centre was.

Seeing how bustling and lively it was here, far surpassing any city from his previous world, he could not help but marvel at how wondrous this world was. [Only about a tenth of the world has been explored and the rest is still uncharted Wilderness. To think such magnificent sights are still waiting to be seen…]

“Let’s go, the auction is about to start. We should head in early.” The Senior Sister said, clearly familiar with the place as she led Lu Fan straight into the auction house.

Along the way, she explained some of the rules of the auction house to Lu Fan.

The bottom three floors were all individual counters, functioning like a trading market where people could buy and sell ordinary Equipment and materials. The middle three floors were VIP Counters, only for those with powerful backgrounds or considered important customers by the Prosperous Heaven Auction House.

Highly valued items would be selected for the weekly auctions. The subsequent two upper connected floors formed a large auction hall, which would be used for the weekly auctions.

The top three floors were offices for auction house staff and not open to the public.

Senior Sister and Lu Fan’s destination was naturally the seventh and eighth floor of the auction house.

After taking the elevator up, she showed something like a VIP Card, and they were immediately led by an attendant to a VIP Box on the second level of the auction hall. It had sofas, snacks and fruits, and even two beautiful women in cheongsam dresses standing at the door ready to serve.

“Sit down and wait, the auction will start soon,” Senior Sister said as she sat on the sofa and took a sip of tea, clearly a regular of this place.

“If you see anything you want, just say so. Whether I lend you a few hundred million or over a billion, it’s all the same to me.” Her extravagant attitude left Lu Fan speechless.

As time passed, more and more people entered the auction hall. Even among the general audience below, there were many High Level Players and well-dressed rich people visible. The fact that they could only sit in the general seats while the Senior Sister brought Lu Fan to this VIP Box further convinced him that this Beautiful Senior Sister’s identity and status was truly extraordinary.

Soon, the auction officially began.

The basic process was as Lu Fan had expected. The host would bring out each auction item to explain, then the whole audience would bid.

The general audience below could raise their paddles to bid. Those in the VIP Boxes upstairs could use tablets to directly enter the bid amount.

Lu Fan’s target was the final auction item, the No Level Requirement Enchantment Scroll. So even though there were some good items earlier, he did not bid on anything.

After nearly two hours of bidding, the auction was finally nearing its end. The last item was brought out – the Enchantment Scroll.

Its starting price was higher than any other item, a full 20 million Dragon Coins!

Of course, this was only the beginning.

There were likely many people here specifically for this Enchantment Scroll, so as soon as it came out, people started bidding without even needing the host to explain further.

The price skyrocketed, quickly breaking 100 million Dragon Coins and continuing to skyrocket.

Lu Fan had wanted to participate in the bidding, but the Senior Sister stopped him.

Since she was very familiar with the auction process. She told Lu Fan to sit tight and let her handle bidding for it.

Soon, the price reached 230 million Dragon Coins.

At this point, not many people were still bidding.

The Senior Sister smiled and casually picked up the tablet, saying. “Now is when we make our move. In auctions, you have to be decisive and forceful. If you bid little by little, it’s like boiling a frog in warm water. It’ll only make the price artificially go higher.”

As she spoke, Senior Sister was about to directly enter a 300 million bid on the tablet to settle things in one go.

At that moment, someone in the general audience below suddenly shouted. “300 million!”

Hearing this voice, Lu Fan was taken aback. He immediately stood up and went to the window, that stretched from the floor to the ceiling, of the VIP Box. From there, he could easily see the full view of the auction hall below.
