Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 162, You Kneel Just for One Dragon?

Translator: Silavin

“What else?” Ruan Changfeng did not think much of that statement. He just assumed Lu Fan was stating the obvious. “Of course you should use your full strength. In the National Trial, whether facing Monsters or the representatives, you’ll have to fight for your life to survive. This assessment will be the same. If you lose, don’t make excuses about holding back. A loss is a loss, and I won’t accept any excuses!”

Ruan Changfeng spoke with confidence and assurance. He knew Lu Fan had a Dragon, and had seen the video of Lu Fan’s Black Dragon causing thousands to faint with just its Dragon Pressure. He also knew this was the source of Lu Fan’s pride.

However, from Ruan Changfeng’s point of view, a mere Baby Dragon was nothing to fear. The reason Lu Fan’s Black Dragon could frighten everyone unconscious with its Dragon Pressure was simply because those present were all Low Level students.

No matter how powerful a Baby Dragon’s Dragon Pressure was, could it really frighten a Level 76 Third Profession Change Holy Shield Knight like him into fainting? That would be nothing but a pipe dream!

Ruan Changfeng was confident that Lu Fan’s Black Dragon would have no effect on him. At the same time, as a Knight, he also had his own Mount.

With his Mount, Ruan Changfeng would gain more Agility. He could make use of that to easily bypass the Black Dragon to directly attack Lu Fan.

After all, at the end of the day, Dragon Tamer was just a Summoning Type Profession. Even if the Pet Dragon was powerful, so what? Lu Fan was still just a novice who had undergone his Second Profession Change. Ruan Changfeng was certain he had a hundred ways to make Lu Fan suffer.

Seeing Ruan Changfeng so confident, Lu Fan thought for a moment and decided to let him have his way. In fact, Lu Fan had not seriously fought against a level 76 Third Profession Player with all his might before. He was curious to know where his true strength currently ranked among the Players.

“Alright, Special Envoy, then I apologise in advance.” Lu Fan smiled and summoned out an Array with his hand.

Ruan Changfeng was very arrogant and did not even try to stop him. He really wanted to see for himself if the so-called Giant Dragon was as powerful as the legends say.

As the Array formed, Xiao Ye was the first to emerge.

Although it was not the first time he was seeing Lu Fan’s Black Dragon, Zhao Shengming was still very moved when Xiao Ye appeared.

Only the principal beside him, hidden under the cloak, showed no visible reaction.

After appearing, Xiao Ye did not immediately use Dragon Pressure. But, the innate oppressive aura of a Dragon still exceeded Ruan Changfeng’s expectations.

Looking at the massive creature descending, Ruan Changfeng unconsciously swallowed his saliva. He had to admit in his heart that as a Knight, seeing such a Pet made him extremely envious.

However, he also knew that he was not a Dragon Tamer, and did not have a Skill to tame a Pet Dragon. Only Lu Fan could tame such a fine Pet.

Upon realising this, he felt even more displeased with Lu Fan.

[As expected of a Giant Dragon, its oppressive aura is indeed overwhelming. But its Level is still too low. Even if I can’t defeat it head-on, I can still easily outmanoeuvre it and directly attack Lu Fan.] Ruan Changfeng thought to himself, making up his mind to attack.

Facing the Black Dragon, Ruan Changfeng did not dare underestimate it. Before attacking, he applied all his available Buffs.

As a Holy Shield Knight, he had many defensive Buff Skills. After applying them all, Ruan Changfeng was like an iron plate, giving even Players of the same Level a headache.

Clearly, Ruan Changfeng had no intention of holding back.

Unfortunately, neither did Lu Fan.

Seeing Ruan Changfeng about to attack, Lu Fan snapped his fingers and said, “Xiao Ye, World Destroyer Form.”

*Ang!* With a Dragon Roar, Xiao Ye switched to her World Destroyer Form. Instantly, her Strength Attribute doubled, easily breaking past 10,000 points.

Ruan Changfeng was an experienced High Level Player. When Xiao Ye transformed into her World Destroyer Form, he clearly felt the pressure on him increase several-fold. Even his legs instinctively trembled and felt weak.

Ruan Changfeng could not help but draw a cold breath as he thought, [We haven’t even started fighting yet but I already felt so powerless, as if I’m facing a High Level Boss!? This… this is impossible!]

Ruan Changfeng sensed something was off and did not want to delay any longer. He decided to attack first, to take Lu Fan down before anything else could happen with this Pet Dragon.

Ruan Changfeng immediately raised his greatsword with both hands. Holy light flickering on his body, clearly the sign of him activating a Skill.

However, would Lu Fan give him this chance?

“Black Dragon Pressure.” A simple command caused a powerful pressure to suddenly erupt from Xiao Ye’s body. Instantly, streams of strong wind burst out from Xiao Ye, carrying the supreme pressure of the Dragon Race, almost forming a tangible force!

This pressure immediately enveloped the entire room, and naturally Ruan Changfeng could not escape from it.

Suddenly, Ruan Changfeng felt as if he’d been struck by a heavy hammer, his mind going blank. In his vision, chaotic purplish black currents were crashing about, with the Black Dragon at the epicentre!

Now, the Black Dragon’s figure in his eyes kept growing larger. Though only the size of a building, for some reason, in Ruan Changfeng’s eyes it was as tall as a mountain.

Ruan Changfeng felt like an ant, tiny and insignificant before the Giant Dragon. It was as if the Dragon could easily crush him with a slight movement of its finger.

An immense sense of dread and fear arose from the depths of his heart, causing his already weakened legs to finally give out. With a *thud*, he fell to his knees.

[What kind of being is this, why is it so terrifying!? Why did I even want to fight against it? Was I not just seeking death!?] Ruan Changfeng had been through hundreds of battles, big and small, including facing numerous High Level Monsters. However, never had he felt such intense fear before.

The fear kept attacking his consciousness, making him feel as if only by fainting could he find relief.

Ruan Changfeng’s whole body trembled uncontrollably, losing all ability to act under the Black Dragon Pressure.

Not just him, even Zhao Shengming and the principal were enveloped by the Black Dragon Pressure.

Zhao Shengming’s Level was even higher than Ruan Changfeng, but the Effect of Black Dragon Pressure depended on the difference in Strength Attribute between him and the Black Dragon. As a Mage, Zhao Shengming’s Level was higher, but his Strength Attribute could not possibly compare to Ruan Changfeng. So, when struck by Black Dragon Pressure, he did not fare much better than Ruan Changfeng. He nearly collapsed to the ground.

However, the principal beside him reached out and grabbed Zhao Shengming’s shoulder. At the same time, a flash of fire circled around Zhao Shengming, forming an Array that helped block out the Effects of Black Dragon Pressure.

Thus, Zhao Shengming did not get embarrassed and managed to stand up straight with difficulty.

After being struck by Black Dragon Pressure just now, Zhao Shengming’s back was covered in sweat. He gave the principal a grateful look and softly said, “Lu Fan’s Black Dragon is indeed terrifying. I didn’t experience its Black Dragon Pressure the last time so I thought I might be able to resist. But now that I’ve personally experienced it, I realise just how hard it is to resist. It is far harder than I could have possibly imagined…”

The principal released Zhao Shengming and calmly said, “You think that’s it? Just keep watching.”

Zhao Shengming nodded and continued to watch.

At this moment, Ruan Changfeng was hovering on the edge of fainting. Thankfully, his Level was very high compared to the Black Dragon. Having been through many trials and tribulations, his mental fortitude was naturally much stronger than that of ordinary people.

Realising that the current fear was all from Lu Fan’s Black Dragon’s Skill, Ruan Changfeng thought back of the recording where this Black Dragon had made thousands faint with just its appearance.

[To think this Skill is so powerful that even I got affected by it!] Gritting his teeth, Ruan Changfeng laboriously raised his greatsword and then viciously stabbed it into his left foot.

“Ahhhh!” The intense pain made Ruan Changfeng break out in a cold sweat. However, it also gave him a moment of clarity.

He roared, “Absolute Resolve!”

This was a Holy Shield Knights’ Third Profession Skill. It grants High Debuff Resistance for a certain period of time. For Holy Shield Knights, this was their Divine Skill.

After using Absolute Resolve, Ruan Changfeng immediately tried to spring up, intending to attack the Black Dragon to make it stop releasing that pressure.

However, as he stood up, he found that his body was still under Effects of the Frightened Debuff. Not only was he still trembling uncontrollably, but his hands and feet were also completely out of his control!

[How is this possible!? Even my Third Profession Skill, Absolute Resolve, couldn’t break the current situation!?] Ruan Changfeng had just managed to stand up shakily, but then fell to his knees again with a *thud*.

[Absolute Resolve is not completely useless though. It at least helped me break free of the illusions caused by Black Dragon Pressure.] Although Ruan Changfeng’s body was still under the Frightened Debuff, unable to move freely, in his eyes, everything in the VIP Arena had returned to normal. What he saw was no longer the extremely terrifying mountain like Black Dragon.

Lu Fan was currently standing with his arms crossed, looking at Ruan Changfeng kneeling on the ground. He asked with a chuckle, “Special Envoy, how can you possibly assess me while kneeling? You said to use my full strength, but I’ve only summoned one Pet Dragon and you’re already kneeling. This makes it very difficult for me to continue with the assessment.”

Hearing the sarcasm in Lu Fan’s words, Ruan Changfeng was burning with rage. He would give anything to rush up and teach Lu Fan a lesson. However, under this Black Dragon Pressure, he could not move at all. How could he possibly attack Lu Fan? In fact, if Lu Fan wanted to, he could easily defeat him right now.

However, that was not the result Lu Fan wanted.

[The Crowd Control Effect of Black Dragon Pressure is too overpowered. But, I don’t want to use just this one Skill to convince him. You want to make things difficult for me? Want me to use my full strength? Fine. I’ll gladly satisfy you.]

With a snap of Lu Fan’s fingers, Xiao Ye retracted Black Dragon Pressure.

As the Skill Effect disappeared, Ruan Changfeng immediately stood up, his eyes bloodshot, clearly enraged.

“You goddamn brat! You dare insult me!?” He did not even stop to think why Lu Fan had retracted Black Dragon Pressure.

Seeing Ruan Changfeng’s livid face, Lu Fan smiled. With both hands, he simultaneously summoned out two more Summoning Arrays.

Seeing this, Ruan Changfeng was stunned.

Zhao Shengming was also stunned. [Two more Summoning Arrays!? Hadn’t Lu Fan’s Black Dragon already been summoned!? What was he going to summon next!? Could it be… More Dragons!?!?]
