Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 158, Jin Chenghan from Extremistis Country

Lu Fan rested his chin on his palm, pondering. [According to my naming convention, and considering the Starry Sky Dragon King is of the same generation as Xiao Cui and Xiao Ye, it should start with ‘Xiao’ (Little) as well.]

Seeing Xiao Cui and Xiao Ye nearly jumping with joy, ready to mock their Third Sister, Lu Fan knew that before he even named her, his two Daughters probably already guessed that the Family’s third child would likely be called ‘Xiao Xing’ (Little Star).

[Hey, I have matured. I could not possibly be so casual in granting a name now. But, jokes aside, I am now a University student, am I not?]

“Hmm… since she is a Starry Sky Dragon King, let’s call her Xing Chen (Constellation).” Lu Fan said with a smile, settling on a name for the Family’s third child.

Xiao Cui and Xiao Ye, who were originally planning to tease their soon-to-be ‘Xiao Xing’, Third Sister, froze after hearing Lu Fan’s words.

Xiao Ye: “Ang?!”

Xiao Cui: “Yiiii?!”

The two Little Dragons soon surrounded Lu Fan, making various Dragon noises non-stop, chattering away, almost seeming to curse in Human language.

Through their spiritual connection, Lu Fan knew his two Daughters were dissatisfied.

‘We’re all Dragon Babies. Why are we called ‘Xiao X’, but our Third Sister’s name is different from ours!?’

To be fair, Xiao Ye and Xiao Cui were quite satisfied with their names. But Dragons, like Humans, do not mind having less as long as it was fair! If their Third Sister was called ‘Xiao Xing’, Xiao Ye and Xiao Cui would have complained. The key issue was, why did their Third Sister’s name seem to sound better than theirs!?

Lu Fan had not expected that a name would make Xiao Cui and Xiao Ye so unhappy. He was both amused and exasperated, trying to comfort the two little ones while he said, “It’s just a name, don’t take it so seriously… If you really can’t accept it, how about I give you new names when I think of better ones in the future?”

Hearing Lu Fan say this, the two Dragons finally calmed down.

At this moment, Lu Fan looked at his third Pet Dragon, Xing Chen, who had already curled up in the corner of the bed and had fallen fast asleep. She seemed to not care what her name was.

Lu Fan could not help but feel a little sad, thinking, [My third girl is already so independent… I just hope that she wouldn’t be a problematic child who didn’t listen to me.]

For a moment, Lu Fan really felt like an old Father, worrying about his Daughters’ future.

…

Meanwhile, in the Wilderness, thousands of kilometres away inside Extremistis Country, at a desolate desert where only endless sand dunes could be seen in all directions.

However, at the centre of those sand dunes seemed to be an oasis, with the shadows of trees swaying, vaguely visible in the night.

But upon closer inspection, one would find that this was not an oasis at all. Those swaying shadows, rustling in the wind, were rows of crucifixes, each bearing a rotten skeleton.

These skeletons had been there for who knows how many years. Their tattered clothes nearly weathered away, making tree-like rustling sounds when blown by the wind.

This so-called ‘oasis’ was not small, with all the wind-dried skeletons adding up to about a hundred thousand.

So many corpses gathered here, making eerie sounds at night, which was truly bizarre from every aspect.

Fortunately, this place was in the undeveloped Wilderness, and normally no one could find it.

At this time, next to this ‘oasis’, on a sand dune, two off-road vehicles were parked. Beside the vehicles, a bonfire was burning, with seven people gathered around, clearly taking a break.

Each of these seven people was above Level 60. They had all already gone through their Third Profession Change, and were all top Players. Moreover, judging from the team composition, it was clear that this group had come specifically to clear Dungeon Instances.

Among them, there was a young man who was sitting cross-legged by the fire. He was clearly the leader of the group. Only he alone sat by the fire, while the others were busy setting up camp and doing various chores.

This young man was handsome, but he had a hooked nose that made him look somewhat sinister. On his shoulder perched a messenger eagle, which had just flown thousands of kilometres from the city to deliver a message.

The young man had already opened the letter tied to the eagle’s foot. After reading it, he gave a cold laugh and casually threw the letter into the fire, burning it completely.

At this time, a tall and strong Third Profession Knight, a Holy Shield Knight, finished his work and came over to sit nearby. He smiled as he asked, “Brother Han, who sent you the letter? You don’t seem to be in a good mood.”

Jin Chenghan did not look at him, but smiled and said, “It’s from my Little Sister. She wanted to talk to me on the phone, but couldn’t reach me, so she had someone write a letter instead.”

“Oh, it’s from the Little Princess!” The Holy Shield Knight laughed. “I heard that she hasn’t been having a good time in Dragon Country. She has been clamouring to come back several times. Is she complaining to you again in this letter?”

Jin Chenghan nodded and said, “Yes. She’s urging me to go to Dragon Country as soon as possible. Some guy has beaten her twice, and she’s determined to get revenge. That girl, she’s all grown up but still acts like a child. We’ve spoiled her too much since she’s little.”

The Holy Shield Knight made a meaningful smile and asked, “So… are you going to Dragon Country or not?”

“Of course I’m going.” Jin Chenghan chuckled, a hint of cruelty flashing in his eyes. “My Little Sister has been spoiled by me. Naturally, I have to keep spoiling her! Whoever she wants to beat, kill, or doesn’t like, as her most loving Big Brother, I have to help her solve all her troubles.”

“Moreover…” Jin Chenghan’s body gradually exuded killing intent as his smile deepened, “I heard that guy in Dragon Country has bullied my Sister twice! If he was in Extremistis Country, I would have torn him to pieces long ago!”

The Holy Shield Knight, who was also from the Royal Family of Extremistis Country, and had grown up with Jin Chenghan, naturally knew how much Jin Chenghan doted on his Little Sister.

Feeling the killing intent emanating from Jin Chenghan, even he, despite being mentally prepared, felt an inexplicable chill run down his spine. A chill so strong it made him shiver involuntarily.

He coughed to dispel the chill, then asked, “So, Brother Han, when do you plan to visit Dragon Capital? The National Trial is coming up soon, and you’re representing our Extremistis Country. In my opinion, going to Dragon Country now seems to be too much of a waste of time…”

“It’s fine.” Jin Chenghan retracted his killing intent and calmly stated, “I’ve already gotten my Third Profession. It’s hard to improve my strength in a short span of time. As long as we keep clearing the Dungeon Instance here, and I get the last piece of the Death Curse Equipment Set, the belt, to drop, I’ll have completed my preparations for the National Trial. At that point, I can just go to Dragon Country.”

After a pause, Jin Chenghan narrowed his eyes and said. “Besides, I’m not just going to Dragon Capital to see Zhu’er. I’ve heard that the person participating in the National Trial for Dragon Country was selected from Dragon Capital University. This time, I plan to go to Dragon Capital University to make contact with their representative. I would like to see how strong that person is.”

“So far, I’ve basically analysed all representatives from the 23 countries. I’ve also collected detailed information through various channels on several Third Profession Players who are qualified to compete with me. But only Dragon Country has not revealed who they’re sending to participate in the National Trial. Dragon Country is definitely a strong contender for first place. Their representative cannot be underestimated. This trip to Dragon Country is to probe their capabilities. After all, this year’s National Trial is being held in our Extremistis Country. I must make sure our country gets first place as the host!”

Hearing this, the Holy Shield Knight flattered him. “I see. Brother Han, you are as meticulous as always. You are not only the top Player of Extremistis Country’s younger generation, but you are also strong and cautious. With you representing Extremistis Country this year, we’re sure to win!”

“Hehe.” Jin Chenghan smiled proudly, then turned and pointed to a female Mage who was setting up a tent, saying, “You, go prepare a paper and pen. I want the messenger eagle to take a letter back. In the letter, inform Zhu’er that I’m clearing a very important Dungeon Instance. Tell her that as soon as I complete my Equipment Set, I’ll immediately go to Dragon Country to visit her. At that time, whoever has offended her, I’ll make them pay back a hundredfold!”

The female Mage did not say much. She just acknowledged the order with a *en* and immediately went to find paper and pen in the car to write out the letter.

At this moment, the desert, which initially only had the sound of wind and the rustling from dried corpses, suddenly echoed with a series of loud noises. Following that, a huge creature could be seen rapidly charging towards the group.

However, everyone present had no reaction to this disturbance, as if they were already used to it.

Soon the sound approached the crowd, and in the darkness, a strange, enormous creature stopped beside the group’s camp. Its massive body was hidden in the darkness, constantly emitting a terrifying aura.

This creature seemed to have a huge mouth like the abyss. It opened its mouth wide, and two things rolled out.

They were parts of a freshly killed Monster that looked like a poisonous snake over ten metres long. It died in a miserable state. Even so, from its hard scales and the venom constantly dripping from its fangs, making sand and stones sizzle, it was clear that this Monster must have been extraordinary when alive.

Jin Chenghan glanced at the dead poisonous snake. He got up and walked to the mysterious enormous creature, gently stroking its body while saying, “Not bad. The food you brought back this time is actually a Level 60 Boss, Desert Sand Viper. I’ve never eaten this thing before. You guys, prepare the food. Don’t use too much seasoning. When in the Wilderness, it’s not bad to eat some game with its original flavour.”

After Jin Chenghan finished speaking, the Holy Shield Knight stood up, took out his greatsword and grinned. “Leave the task of processing the meat to me. But I’m not good at cooking but I can cut it apart. The cooking should be left to the girls in our team.”

“Do as you like.” Jin Chenghan indifferently said, looking admiringly at the enormous creature in front of him, “Just don’t forget to feed my Pet until it’s full.”
