Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 188, In the Blink of an Eye, You’ve Become My Superior?

Translator: Silavin

Faced with such massive temptation, although Lui Fei was moved, as a soldier, he still had to carefully consider the dangers and feasibility of continuing the Mission.

After hesitating for a long time under the expectant gazes of Lu Fan and the others, Lui Fei finally said in a deep voice, “You’re absolutely right. With Lu Fan here, and his Passive Skills perfectly countering the Snow Women here, we really can continue. It’s just, continuing the exploration Mission in the blizzard is really too dangerous.”

“Lu Fan, can you really guarantee that you can deal with the Monsters in the blizzard and protect everyone’s safety? Once the blizzard arrives, the Combat Power of the three of us will be very limited. If any Snow Woman approaches us without you noticing, our lives will be in danger.”

Lu Fan nodded and said confidently, “Don’t worry, Brother Lui, I definitely won’t joke around with your lives. I’m confident that it’s absolutely safe for us to continue exploring in the blizzard!”

As he spoke, Lu Fan took out Underworld Serpent’s Cry, then drew the bow and arrow. Without squinting his eyes, he shot two arrows into the sky in succession.

These two arrows turned into starlight and burst open in mid-air in the blink of an eye.

Although they were ordinary shots, with Lu Fan’s Attribute having already broken past ten thousand, the power of each arrow was terrifying.

The bursting arrows stirred up waves of strong winds, forming two small mushroom clouds.

Two Snow Women could be seen being precisely struck by these two arrows. Their screams were mixed with the sound of the explosion, disappearing in an instant.

Under Xiao Ye’s perception, the locations of the Snow Women were completely exposed. Even if the Far North would soon be covered by a blizzard, Xiao Ye could still guarantee that within a ten kilometres radius, she could immediately sense any Concealed presence.

In fact, not just Xiao Ye, even Lu Fan, who had half of her Passive, could roughly sense the positions of the Snow Women. With Underworld Serpent’s Cry, he could intercept them from thousands of metres away and directly blast them to pieces.

Even if there were numerous Monsters, Lu Fan did not need to worry. At worst, he could summon Xiao Cui. He could make her turn into her Divine Tree Of Life Form to protect everyone, and let Xiao Ye use Great Cataclysm to turn this icy world into a fiery mountain.

Of course, if possible, Lu Fan still wanted to keep Xiao Cui as a hidden trump card, and not let more people know about her.

Seeing Lu Fan take action again, once more blasting the Snow Women in Concealment, Lui Fei and the others completely believed in his words – that with Lu Fan here, mere Snow Women were not a problem at all.

Thus, everyone agreed at once – regardless of the weather, they were going to continue exploring forward!

However, this time, the one leading the way in front was not Shen Cai and Lui Fei, but Lu Fan riding Xiao Ye.

Shen Cai’s Pet Eagle guards could not fly in the blizzard, so the group did not even have scouts leading the way up front. They could only rely on Lu Fan’s perception.

Lu Fan did not disappoint them. Any Snow Women hiding in the wind and snow would not be able to escape his perception. From afar, he would directly shoot them down with an arrow. Thus, he did not allow them to get close to the group at all.

As time passed the group continued to advance, with the blizzard in full force.

The sky that was previously clear enough to see stars completely disappeared, and all that could be seen were endless snowflakes and howling cold winds.

Each snowflake was as big as a palm, frozen by the low temperature to become akin to glass, making a crisp *ping ping ping* sound when falling on their body.

For ordinary Second Profession Players, they might not even be able to survive in such an extremely harsh environment.

Even Players above Level 70 like Lui Fei and the others were suffering greatly under these conditions.

Shen Cai’s Summons did not have as High Attributes as the Griffins. In such wind speed and cold, they could not maintain flight. Therefore, Shen Cai was forced to recall them and share a Mount with Lui Fei.

In contrast, Lu Fan felt fine due to his extremely High Attributes.

Even so, to take care of Lui Fei and the others, Lu Fan slowed down his pace. The group’s exploration speed was only one-third of what it was before, but it was still progress.

At this speed, there was still hope for Lu Fan to reach the location to claim the Treasure Map before leaving the Far North.

Apart from the harsh weather, another thing slowing down the group’s progress was the increasing number of Monsters appearing.

Monsters like Gamelyons, Polar Ice Pythons, Ice Plain Yetis, and the like seemed to really like this weather. They all came out from who knows where in astonishing numbers.

Almost every time they advanced a distance, a large wave of these Monsters would appear. To continue advancing, they needed to slaughter them all.

In addition, Snow Women also appeared in groups in mid-air, silently hidden in the wind and snow, like mosquitoes and moths in the summer. They were simply too numerous to count.

Lu Fan, in his Riding State, with the advantage of his Attributes, could basically kill any Monster with one arrow.

Many Monsters were sniped from afar before they could even get close to Lu Fan and the others. Only when there were numerous Monsters did they have a chance to approach Lu Fan and the others.

However, after Lu Fan put away Underworld Serpent’s Cry and switched to the Black Dragon Scale Greatsword, each Sword Qi could still kill these Monsters without giving them any chance to fight back.

With Lu Fan ‘carrying’ the team, although Lui Fei and the others could not exert their true strength in the blizzard, they could still take the opportunity to engage with the Monsters and gain some Military Merits.

The bulk of the Military Merits provided by these Monsters was definitely taken by Lu Fan, but they could also get a share, which was considered a great profit.

Apart from Military Merits, the Experience Points provided by Elite Monsters around Level 80 were also very substantial.

With so many Monsters coming wave after wave, almost comparable to a Dungeon Instance, Lu Fan and Xiao Ye were eating up Experience Points to their heart’s content. However, their Levels were already quite high, so it was still a bit difficult to Level Up in a short time.

Lu Fan really wanted to call out Xing Chen to get some Experience Points, but after thinking about it, he decided against it.

He was Levelling Up as well. And Experience Points would never be wasted. They would be appropriately given to Xiao Ye, the main combatant.

As for Xing Chen, he could Level her up later when they went to the National Trial Secret Realm.

Like this, the four man squad advanced for another week.

During this week, the blizzard continued.

Although the distance explored added together was not even as much as the results of the previous four days, everyone had a great time grinding Experience Points and Military Merits.

Finally, on the seventh day, as starlight exploded in mid-air, directly blasting three Snow Women, the medal on Lu Fan’s chest suddenly lit up.

After attracting everyone’s astonished gazes, this iron medal actually changed, turning into a bronze medal.

Such a change left Lui Fei and the other two nearly speechless.

Seeing that the surrounding Monsters had been cleared by Lu Fan and there was no danger for the moment, Lu Changkong was the first to complain. “Damn, Brother Lu, you’ve become a Bronze Wing already!? Your accumulation speed of Military Merits is too overpowered! I’ve been fighting here for my life for a year and haven’t upgraded to Bronze Wing, but in the blink of an eye, you’ve basically become my superior!?”

Because the wind was too loud, he was almost shouting when he spoke, which was quite funny.

Lui Fei also marvelled, shouting to ask Lu Fan if he had counted how many Monsters he had killed in this week, and how he had accumulated so much Military Merits.

Most of the Monsters Lu Fan killed were Snow Women or similar Monsters that could Conceal themselves in the wind and snow. When the rest of the squad followed Lu Fan to advance, they often saw Lu Fan draw his bow and arrow, shoot an arrow, and easily pocketing Military Merits.

As for how many Monsters were killed by his arrows, they really did not know. After all, they could not see because of the heavy wind and snow.

Even for Concealed Monsters beyond their range of vision, Lu Fan could clearly sense their existence.

His perception shocked everyone time and time again.

Being questioned like this, Lu Fan chuckled and shouted back. “I can’t remember clearly either. Anyway, killing like this all the way, if not ten thousand, it must be several thousand! In the blizzard, these Monsters are like earthworms after it rains. They all come out. I’m almost numb from killing them.”

Hearing Lu Fan’s words, Lu Changkong laughed and cursed. “Damn it, listen to this. Is this a Human talking? A Level 32 Second Profession Player, numb from killing Level 80 Elite Monsters!? If I had your ability, I would definitely upgrade to Gold Wing here in one go, and then ask Lord Northern Marquis to grant me a title!”

Shen Cai, sitting behind Lui Fei, did not forget to mock him, “Why don’t you say, ask Lord Northern Marquis to come down and give you his Marquis position?”

Lu Changkong laughed. “It’s a bit arrogant to say this with only a Second Profession, but not after I had my Third Profession Change, I should be able to discuss it with Lord Northern Marquis by then.”

Shen Cai glanced at him and said. “Sure. You really think you’re Lu Fan, huh?”

As she spoke, Shen Cai looked at the supplies in her Mission Inventory, then said to everyone. “We’ve been exploring too intensively these days, and our supplies are almost exhausted. If we continue like this, I’m afraid we won’t be able to hold on. Why don’t we go back to rest and resupply?”

Shen Cai’s words were agreed upon by everyone.

During these seven days, everyone had been exploring forward, encountering countless Monsters.

They could only rest and eat something during the intervals when there were no Monsters around.

In seven days, no one had eaten a proper meal or slept a full eight hours, at most dozing off for ten minutes or so.

Lu Fan, nourished by Dragon Physique, had much more stamina than ordinary people, so he did not feel much.

But Xiao Ye, after seven days of fighting, had only eaten some Marching Biscuits along with everyone else. At this point, Xiao Ye had already indicated to Lu Fan that she was ‘hungry hungry’ and wanted to eat ‘meat meat meat’.

Lu Fan could not bear to let his Oldest Daughter go hungry and cold. After working so hard here for so long, it was indeed time to go back for a good resupply and rest.

So, everyone agreed at once to set up an outpost in a relatively safe place nearby, then leave through the Transfer Array and return to the military camp.

Half an hour after Lu Fan and the others left, in the midst of the wind and snow, a Griffin pierced through, quickly arriving nearby and immediately spotting this outpost.

Soon, the Griffin landed, and a figure wrapped entirely in animal skins dismounted from the Griffin, came over to examine this outpost, and then left again.
