Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 110, The Rules of the Freshmen Exam and Zhao Shengming’s Reminder

Translator: Silavin

Zhao Shengming’s reminder made Lu Fan understand the stakes at play.

Lu Fan smiled, indicating he understood, then respectfully left the office.

Walking back, Lu Fan was originally pondering how much chance of victory he had against Third Profession Change Players with his own strength. That was when suddenly, the System’s voice came on schedule.

[Another Low Grade Treasure Map, huh?] Lu Fan did not have much of a reaction. Still, while walking, he opened the System Panel to check the Treasure Map.

He had accumulated many Treasure Maps these days, and had also claimed two of them.

These two Treasure Maps were Low Grade, with coordinates near Dragon Capital.

Lu Fan claimed two Potions, which increased Attributes, and directly drank them all.

Apart from these two Treasure Maps, the coordinates of the other Treasure Maps were scattered all over, making it impossible to claim them.

Lu Fan kept the Treasure Maps that were of places he had heard of, and might have a chance to claim the future. As for those that were obviously too far out, he synthesised all of them.

After getting this Low Grade Treasure Map, Lu Fan continued to synthesise three unneeded Treasure Maps of the same Grade into a Higher Grade Treasure Map.

As a result, Lu Fan found that because he had enough Treasure Maps, he was able to synthesise several times in succession, finally producing a Peak Grade Treasure Map!

This was currently the Highest Grade Treasure Map in Lu Fan’s possession, but unfortunately, the coordinates of the Treasure Map was at a place called Flying Dragon Cemetery, which Lu Fan had never heard of.

Lu Fan had never claimed a Peak Grade Treasure Map before, but he guessed that a Peak Grade Treasure Map might also yield a Dragon Egg.

After all, every time he claimed a Divine Grade Treasure Map, he could claim a Dragon Egg and a Dragon Blood Potion.

A Dragon Egg alone might not be worthy of appearing as the sole reward of a Divine Grade Treasure Map, so it might have been paired with a Dragon Blood Potion.

In other words, if Lu Fan was lucky, it was possible to claim a Dragon Egg from a Peak Grade Treasure Map!

Lu Fan believed in his luck, but he might not be able to find where this Flying Dragon Cemetery was. So, this Treasure Map could only be kept at the bottom of the Inventory, waiting to be synthesised with other Treasure Maps, or until the day he could find Flying Dragon Cemetery.

This little interlude did not weigh too heavily on Lu Fan’s mind.

Soon, the next day arrived.

All new students returned to the school auditorium to participate in the ‘Mobilisation General Assembly’ for the freshmen exam. It was basically an announcement of the rules and rewards for this freshmen exam.

After nearly a month of study, Lu Fan had some understanding of Dragon Capital University and knew some rules of the freshmen exam.

The specific rules of the freshmen exam were always decided by teachers drawing lots at the Mobilisation General Assembly.

Whether it would be a PvP battle or a specified Dungeon Instance speed run competition;

Whether the exam would be assessed based on the individual, duo, five man team, or a ten man team, these were all drawn and announced at the Mobilisation General Assembly.

This way, there was no possibility of leaking what would happen in the freshmen exam.

Soon, the Mobilisation General Assembly began, and once again, Zhao Shengming was hosting the Mobilisation General Assembly.

After Zhao Shengming’s drew the lots, it was finally decided that this year’s freshmen exam would be a team PvP, specifically, 2v2.

Lu Fan had no objection to this, because his regular  team could handle all arrangements except for a ten man assessment. A 2v2 meant Lu Fan would be spared the trouble of finding more teammates.

After the draw, Zhao Shengming announced the rewards for this assessment.

The team in first place would be rewarded with 5,000 points per person; second place: 3,000 points; and third place: 2,000 points.

The rewards for the top thirty teams were quite substantial, with a minimum of 500 points per person.

Beyond that, the points would be much less.

Only teams that passed the preliminary round and ranked in the top 100 could obtain points. Those ranking below 100 would get nothing.

These rewards were very generous, and everyone was eager to try.

This freshmen cohort had about 3,000 students, and excluding those who voluntarily withdrew and Non-Combat Specialised Professions, they could form more than 1,000 teams.

Tomorrow would be spent on the preliminary round, where each person needed to defeat at least four teams to advance to the finals.

After the Mobilisation General Assembly ended, Lu Fan and the others took Jian Ying back to Villa No. 1 to discuss how they would form the teams.

As Han Ke was a Lifestyle Specialised Profession, she could choose not to participate in the freshmen exam. Thus, the remaining four people just needed to form two teams.

Originally, Lu Fan had planned to team up with Qin Qiu, while Jian Ying and Tao Xiaoman would form another team. This way, the 5,000 points for first place were basically secured for his team, and with Jian Ying’s abilities, carrying Tao Xiaoman to top ten should not be a problem.

This way, the total points obtained by their team would be more.

However, this proposal was rejected by Qin Qiu and Tao Xiaoman.

They felt that if it was just about points, this pairing would be reasonable. However, besides daily consumption, the reward points from the freshmen exam were also combined with granted points to determine whether Lu Fan and Jian Ying could enter the Noble Class.

Lu Fan did not need to worry about this. However, if Jian Ying was held back by Tao Xiaoman, leading to an unexpected early loss in the competition, it could potentially affect her spot in the Noble Class.

To be safe, it would be better for Jian Ying to team up with Lu Fan. This way, their spots in the Noble Class would definitely be secure.

As Noble Class Students, they would be rewarded with a large number of points by the school every month in the future, which would be more reasonable in the long run.

Lu Fan could see that Qin Qiu and Tao Xiaoman felt their strength was severely lacking, far below his and Jian Ying’s. He knew they did not want to hold them back.

Lu Fan thought about it and felt there was indeed no need to force Jian Ying to compete while carrying Tao Xiaoman or Qin Qiu. It would not be fair to Jian Ying.

After all, Lu Fan had heard that the other top ten ranked students had already approached Jian Ying many times, wanting to team up with her, but they were all rejected.

With Jian Ying’s strength, she could find stronger teammates, and it would not be right to make her team up with Tao Xiaoman and Qin Qiu, even if Jian Ying was willing.

So, the teams had been tentatively decided upon.

Team One would be Lu Fan and Jian Ying, securing the first and second rankings for the two of them.

Team Two would be Tao Xiaoman and Qin Qiu. Since the two of them had been aggressively Levelling Up recently, their Levels were definitely among the highest among the new students. Furthermore, Tao Xiaoman had the Silver Poison Spider Equipment Set, and Qin Qiu had a Hidden Profession. As long as they did not encounter Players ranked in the top thirty, they still had a fighting chance.

They only needed to enter the finals and get points to be considered victorious.

…

Meanwhile, at the Dragon Capital Arena.

“Ang!” An Earth Dragon charged forward, making the entire arena tremble.

In front of the Earth Dragon were two second year students, one Knight, one Swordsman, both already had their Second Profession Change.

The Swordsman had chosen War God for his Second Profession Change, while the Knight had chosen Guardian Knight.

For the two Second Profession Change Players, the War God had no fancy Skills, relying purely on physical strength to charge. Meanwhile, the Guardian Knight could give the War God a Damage Reduction Buff.

Their tactic of working together and charging at the enemy was almost unstoppable.

These two second year students were quite famous in the arena. Although they were only Level 30 and had just undergone their Second Profession Change, they had basically never lost in a 2v2 against those below Level 30.

With this charging tactic, they could easily handle any combination of Professions.

Unfortunately, they had met their match today.

Faced with the fierce Earth Dragon, the two did not retreat, still following their previous tactic of letting the War God charge forward.

As a result, in one encounter, the War God Senior Student with multiple Damage Reduction Buffs was easily knocked flying by the Earth Dragon, spitting blood as he flew out of the arena.

Faced with the Earth Dragon slowly walking towards him, the remaining Guardian Knight trembled all over. How was it possible for him to hae any courage left to fight?

He immediately raised both hands high and shouting in terror, “I… I surrender! The agreed upon 100 points, I’ll give them to you now…”

“Come back, Armoured Earth Dragon!” Chen Tianshi smiled, shouting aloud, and the Armoured Earth Dragon gave up approaching the Guardian Knight. It returned to Chen Tianshi’s side instead.

This sparring match had already reached its conclusion.

At this time, many students had gathered around the arena, and seeing this scene, they all exclaimed in amazement.

“That’s their 28th consecutive win, right? This Dragon Tamer is too strong…”

“Yeah, even the charging duo known to be invincible under Level 30 were directly knocked flying by his Earth Dragon. For anyone under Level 30, he probably has no opponent, right?”

“Definitely. This Dragon Tamer came to the arena to challenge Senior Students because no one among the new students dared to face him. As a result, he still maintained his invincible record, achieving 28 consecutive wins. This is simply too terrifying…”

“I came here just to see how strong Dragons really are, and it certainly didn’t disappoint me.”

“This is nothing. I heard that this Dragon Tamer is just the runner-up from South Province. Their South Province has produced two Dragon Tamers this year, both at our Dragon Capital University. The other Dragon Tamer is actually the top student of South Province. He is even stronger than Chen Tianshi!”

“I’ve heard about that too. But, I’m very doubtful about the authenticity of this news. Chen Tianshi is already this strong, and the other Dragon Tamer is even stronger? I just can’t believe it.”

“It doesn’t matter if you don’t believe this. It’s just what everyone is saying. Some people say that Chen Tianshi’s Dragon is actually just an Earth Dragon, without much Dragon Bloodline in it. But the other one called Lu Fan has a real Dragon! How strong a real Dragon is, it’s simply beyond our imagination!”

“Humph! In my opinion, you’re just spreading rumours. Earth Dragons are already rare enough, who could possess a real Dragon? Let me ask you, it’s said that Dragon Tamer has an actual Dragon, but has anyone seen his Dragon?”

“Well… we really have not seen it. The only creature with Dragon Bloodline I’ve seen in my life is this Earth Dragon.”

“See? Then there’s no use arguing about this. Anyway, the freshmen exam will start tomorrow, and the venue is right here, in this arena. Why don’t we come watch the freshman exam live tomorrow?”

“Yeah. This year’s freshmen exam will definitely be exhilarating to watch. I’m really looking forward to seeing Chen Tianshi and Lu Fan, the two Dragon Tamers, face off. A battle between Dragons! This is something people might not be able to see in their entire lifetime.”
