I am the Ultimate Villain, So What If I Kill a Protagonist

121: Chapter 121 Big Shots from Shanghai GatherAfter receiving the call from Chu Yuan and learning that that pig Jiang Chen had actually run to Chu Yuan’s territory to cause trouble,

Police Bureau Chief Jiang Haitian called Jiang Chen, hoping he would be smart enough to retreat voluntarily, while simultaneously rushing to the villa where Chu Yuan was located to prevent the situation from escalating further.

Jiang Chen’s arrogance made Police Bureau Chief Jiang Haitian completely furious.

The other party was dead set on battling Chu Yuan to the bitter end.

Once a conflict broke out between Jiang Chen and Chu Yuan, he, as the bureau chief, would likely suffer the consequences as well.

Officer Lin Wanzhu, who was nearby, had already learned what Jiang Chen was doing, so she immediately drove Police Bureau Chief Jiang Haitian and rushed over in a hurry.

Speaking of which, Officer Lin Wanzhu’s driving skills could truly be described as god-like.

She managed to cover a half-hour journey in just ten minutes.

Upon arriving at the scene and seeing that there was still room for reconciliation, Police Bureau Chief Jiang Haitian finally breathed a sigh of relief.

If guns were actually drawn and casualties occurred, his career as the bureau chief would likely be over.

”Director Jiang, you’ve arrived too; this is truly great.”

”Mayor Liu ordered me to arrest the suspect of the three serial murder cases. As the head of the Shanghai Police Station, you will surely enforce the law impartially, and shielding a criminal suspect is certainly something that would not happen.”

The arrival of Police Bureau Chief Jiang Haitian did not intimidate Jiang Chen.

Having long anticipated what the other party would say, Jiang Chen spoke first, bringing up his own backer to completely cut off the other party’s line of thought.

Now that everything was out in the open, if Police Bureau Chief Jiang Haitian chose to help Chu Yuan and block him at this moment,

wouldn’t that just be telling everyone that he was engaging in malpractice and shielding a criminal?

”Acting under orders? I am the head of the bureau. Without my nod, you actually dare to mobilize so many police forces?”

”Jiang Chen, you have long been dismissed and are under investigation. The documents for your dismissal and investigation are on the way, so don’t bother with any deathbed struggles.”

Police Bureau Chief Jiang Haitian was too lazy to waste words.

Since they had torn off the mask, he would speak plainly.

”Suspended from duty and under investigation?”

”Director Jiang, although you are my superior, you do not have the authority to suspend me from my position.”

”I am acting under Mayor Liu’s orders; even you, Police Bureau Chief Jiang Haitian, have no right to interfere.”

”Listen up, take down Chu Yuan and this woman together.”

”Without my order, who dares to act rashly?”

The two bigwigs—one telling them to move, one telling them not to—meant that anyone with a shred of sense was shrinking back at this moment, absolutely not daring to be the first bird to stick its head out.

Chu Yuan paid no attention to this tit-for-tat confrontation, sitting to the side and tasting the freshly arrived Biluochun tea.

For such a small scene, simply pulling up a stool to watch the show was enough.

Once Jiang Chen’s order was given, it was blocked by Police Bureau Chief Jiang Haitian; everyone looked at each other, but no one dared to act rashly.

Officer Tang Jun wanted to act on behalf of his master, but just as he stepped forward, he saw his surrounding colleagues giving him mocking looks, so he shrank back as well.

”What do you think you’re doing? Not listening to my orders—do you want to be fired?”

Jiang Chen was so angry his lungs felt like they were going to explode; this group of useless subordinates was of no use at the critical moment.

He held an arrest warrant in his hand, yet it couldn’t withstand a few words from Police Bureau Chief Jiang Haitian.

The current situation was like an arrow on the bowstring; it had to be fired.

If he took down Chu Yuan, he could still turn the tables, and it was even possible to drag Police Bureau Chief Jiang Haitian down with him.

If he failed, not to mention that Chu Yuan wouldn’t let him off, Police Bureau Chief Jiang Haitian would likely battle him to the bitter end, and he would completely lose face in front of the woman he loved.

Jiang Chen subconsciously fixed his gaze on Officer Lin Wanzhu.

The scene of Officer Lin Wanzhu and Chu Yuan on a date that night, the two of them intimate and inseparable, flashed directly into Jiang Chen’s mind.

Killing intent surged within Jiang Chen; he wished he could strike now and finish off Chu Yuan.

Chu Yuan looked at Jiang Chen with great interest.

Make a move?

A Protagonist with any backbone would probably choose to make a move and fight him to the death.

Unfortunately.

Jiang Chen didn’t have this opportunity at all.

Whether in terms of strength, status, or background, he, Chu Yuan, was streets ahead of Jiang Chen.

Both were transmigrators, both were system owners, but the difference between them could not be described by just two words.

”Jiang Chen, do not be unreasonable here. It’s not too late to stop now. I believe Young Master Chu is magnanimous and won’t hold too much against you; otherwise, you will regret it too late.”

Officer Lin Wanzhu advised.

She also saw that the other party was capable and ”full of righteousness,” and she couldn’t bear to see such a figure make a mistake in a moment of confusion and commit an irreparable error.

It would have been better if she hadn’t tried to persuade him; this advice directly ignited the fire of anger in Jiang Chen’s heart.

He was a reborn person, a Son of Destiny with a system; would he need a rich young master like Chu Yuan to not hold things against him?

Jiang Chen gritted his teeth, his eyes flashing with a fierce light, and made his decision.

”Officer Tang Jun, go! Kill Chu Yuan, and I will promote you to captain of the criminal police team at the Shanghai Police Station.”

Now, as long as he killed Chu Yuan, he had a way to deal with the remaining Police Bureau Chief Jiang Haitian.

Just as Jiang Chen’s voice fell, a majestic voice came from behind him.

”Since when does a criminal police captain of my Shanghai Police Station need to kill someone to take office?”

”Jiang Chen, you’re doing a fine job as deputy bureau chief. Do you think the police station is yours to run, where you can kill whoever you want and promote whoever you want?”

Immediately after, an elderly man in his fifties or sixties walked over slowly.

Behind him followed four or five people, all carrying the aura of those in high positions.

The person who arrived was Party Secretary Chu Yushan of Shanghai, and as for the few behind him, they were all bigwigs of Shanghai.

It could be said that because of Jiang Chen, the strongest bigwigs in Shanghai’s official circles, except for the Mayor Liu mentioned by Jiang Chen, had basically all appeared here.

”Party Secretary Chu, you... I...”

Seeing these people appear, Jiang Chen was completely dumbfounded.

He naturally knew all of these people.

He never expected that Chu Yuan would actually have the ability to summon so many bigwigs.

A few of the bigwigs had, during the investigation of cases, more or less had some minor connections with him.

Jiang Chen had sold them favors and had not dug deeper.

He hadn’t expected these people to become his reinforcements; he only prayed that one day, in consideration of his ”showing mercy,” they would not target him.

But now, the way these people looked at him, it was as if he were already a dead man.

Party Secretary Chu Yushan did not continue to pay attention to Jiang Chen but walked straight up to Chu Yuan.

”Chu Yuan, these matters are indeed our oversight. We will deal with such people; we will absolutely not let them harm this society.”

”Party Secretary Chu is too polite. I naturally trust you all. A small piece of rat dung cannot spoil the whole pot of porridge.”

”Haha...”

The two exchanged a look; it was as if everything had been said, yet as if nothing had been said at all—everything was understood without words.
