I am the Ultimate Villain, So What If I Kill a Protagonist

115: Chapter 115 Minor Supporting Character Acts on His Own”Insolent?”

Looking at the foolish fellow before him who had now shown his true colors, Chu Yuan couldn’t be bothered to continue playing along with him.

”I am the victim in today’s incident. I left all the suspects alive for you, yet instead of questioning Shen Wen, you are here interrogating me as if I were a criminal.”

”I have every reason to suspect that the mastermind behind this incident is connected to you, or perhaps to the person behind you.”

”You... stop spouting nonsense here.”

Officer Tang Jun was rendered speechless by the retort and had to force himself to calm down.

”My apologies, Young Master Chu. I am just handling official business. Although my methods were a bit off, please cooperate.”

”You have the right to remain silent, but anything you say will be used as evidence in court.”

Chu Yuan said leisurely, ”What a fine piece of evidence in court. You bring a victim into an interrogation room to question them—what do you hope to get out of me, or rather, what does the person behind you hope to get out of me?”

Chu Yuan was now suspecting that the assassination attempt in the first half was Jiang Chen’s doing, while the interrogation in the second half was entirely this extra acting on his own initiative.

Not to mention that bringing him into the interrogation room was already a violation of the rules.

Just considering the capabilities of the Shanghai Chu Family, even if he were to spout nonsense here today, or even cause a huge scene, they would still have to obediently come and clean up his mess.

This was the terrifying nature of a millennium-old family in Shanghai; it was simply not something for a small-timer like this to touch.

Even if Jiang Chen didn’t know the terror of the Chu Family, he wouldn’t use such childish, playing-house methods to deal with him, only to end up getting himself into trouble.

The facts were exactly as Chu Yuan had guessed. Upon seeing the scene of Chu Yuan on a date with Officer Lin Wanzhu, Jiang Chen was furious.

He directly contacted a killer organization; if he could take care of Chu Yuan, that would be for the best, but even if he couldn’t, he wanted to scare Chu Yuan half to death.

Officer Tang Jun, unsure whether he wanted to take revenge on Chu Yuan or curry favor with Jiang Chen, had directed and acted out the second half himself, leading to the current situation.

He had originally intended to bring Chu Yuan to the station and give him a good scare on his own home turf.

He never expected that Chu Yuan wouldn’t buy into this at all; his straightforward approach had left Officer Tang Jun dumbfounded.

Now, looking back at his own actions, Officer Tang Jun was broken out in a cold sweat.

Officer Tang Jun didn’t know how powerful the Shanghai Chu Family was.

But he understood that for them, crushing a small-timer like him would be more than enough.

Officer Tang Jun took a deep breath and smiled bitterly, ”Young Master Chu, I was wrong. I was in the wrong just now. Please come to the reception room, Young Master Chu, and I will offer my apologies.”

”What reception room? This place is just fine. Let your Director and deputy chiefs come and see how comfortable I am here.”

”Don’t... please, don’t!”

Officer Tang Jun was terrified, cold sweat streaming down his face.

If the Director were to see that he had brought Young Master Chu into the interrogation room, he would be skinned alive even if he didn’t die.

”Young Master Chu, please let me off. I beg you.”

Officer Tang Jun felt like crying.

The big shots Jiang Chen and Young Master Chu were competing and fighting to the death; why did a person like him, who didn’t even count as a minor supporting character, have to stick his nose in?

”Young Master Chu, I beg you. I have elderly parents above and young children below; I cannot lose this job.”

”Everything today was just me being muddle-headed for a moment. Please don’t hold it against someone like me; spare my life.”

”I’m kneeling to you!”

They say a man’s knees have gold, but in order to beg for Young Master Chu’s forgiveness, Officer Tang Jun dropped to his knees with a thud.

”Don’t... please, don’t. Judging by your age, you are several years older than me. What is the meaning of you kneeling like this?”

”If you really want to save your future, I’ll give you a piece of advice.”

”Young Master Chu, please tell me.”

Officer Tang Jun looked at Young Master Chu with a devout expression.

”Go find your backer. He has vast magical powers; go beg him early, and you might still have a chance to save your life.”

”Backer? Right... right...”

Officer Tang Jun suddenly thought of something, and his heart, which had fallen into an ice cave, suddenly became agitated.

He wiped away his tears and rushed out in a hurry.

”This guy is truly stupidly cute.”

Watching Officer Tang Jun run away in a hurry, Young Master Chu couldn’t help but laugh out loud.

He didn’t know what that guy Jiang Chen was thinking, taking on such an impressive lackey.

Was he planning to spin a cocoon around himself and play himself to death?

Officer Lin Wanzhu had already arrived by taxi. Having heard that another case had occurred in Shanghai, one that also involved overseas forces and mercenary organizations, she was worried.

She couldn’t bother with going back to rest, so she hailed a cab and headed straight for the police station.

Just as she entered, she saw Officer Tang Jun walking out of a dilapidated room.

”Officer Tang Jun, what are you doing? I heard you were also at the scene of the shooting tonight. What exactly is the situation?”

”Ah! I... I...”

With a guilty conscience, Officer Tang Jun became even more flustered upon hearing Officer Lin Wanzhu’s inquiry. In his panic, he tripped and fell to the ground with a thud.

Ignoring the pain, Officer Tang Jun scrambled and crawled towards Jiang Chen’s office.

”This guy, could there be something shameful inside that room?”

With a bit of curiosity and doubt, Officer Lin Wanzhu pushed open the door.

”Ah! It... it’s you!”

...

Half an hour later, in the dilapidated interrogation room.

The small interrogation room was packed with people.

Police Bureau Chief Jiang Haitian, Jiang Chen, Officer Lin Wanzhu, and several other deputy chiefs all crowded in.

Beads of sweat on Police Bureau Chief Jiang Haitian’s forehead were dripping down frantically, like popping beans.

The expressions of the other deputy chiefs were also exceptionally ugly.

Especially Police Bureau Chief Jiang Haitian, whose fists were tightly clenched; he had the urge to kill Officer Tang Jun.

This good-for-nothing waste who couldn’t accomplish anything but could ruin everything had spoiled his good plans at a critical moment and poked such a huge hornet’s nest for him.

Officer Tang Jun’s face was ashen, and he collapsed limply on the floor.

With so many big shots here, not even a deity could save him.

”Young Master Chu, please calm your anger. Today’s incident was our fault. I apologize to you on behalf of the bureau.”

As the head of the bureau, Police Bureau Chief Jiang Haitian did not shirk responsibility but instead took the initiative to bow his head.

Treating a victim as a criminal suspect—let alone that Chu Yuan was a member of the Shanghai Chu Family, even if it were an ordinary person, if this got out, the reputation of their bureau would be completely ruined.

”Director Jiang, this matter has nothing to do with you at all. In any case, it cannot be blamed on you.”

”Thank you for your understanding, Young Master Chu.”

Chu Yuan’s words made Police Bureau Chief Jiang Haitian breathe a sigh of relief.

As long as Chu Yuan didn’t cause him trouble, the rest...

”Officer Tang Jun, despite having worked in the bureau for so many years, you actually did such a muddle-headed thing.”

”In view of the muddle-headed thing Officer Tang Jun has done, I, on behalf of the bureau, decide to dismiss Officer Tang Jun from all his duties, immediately open a case for investigation, and will never be lenient.”

Officer Tang Jun was already disheartened; upon hearing the punishment against him, his face became even more despondent.

Chu Yuan remained unmoved; instead, he fixed his gaze on Jiang Chen.

Chu Yuan had no interest in bullying supporting characters.

The Protagonist Jiang Chen was the one he was really after.
