I am the Ultimate Villain, So What If I Kill a Protagonist

109: Chapter 109 The Policewoman’s InvitationShanghai Police Station.

A major meeting was underway.

Officer Lin Wanzhu and the others sat upright, taking notes with serious expressions.

”Recently, Shanghai has been anything but peaceful, with incidents occurring frequently. The case of the entire Cao Shuwen family being killed remains unresolved, and Wang Hao, along with a group of unknown individuals, has also been murdered.”

”Even more outrageous, someone, in broad daylight, used an unknown weapon to cause an explosion in a residential complex, resulting in three deaths.”

As for why they called it an ”unknown weapon,” it was because Zhang Yang had been sent away by a system self-detonation.

They had searched everywhere but simply could not figure out what means had been used to trigger the explosion, so they had to classify it as a weapon-related incident.

Police Bureau Chief Jiang Haitian scanned the room as he spoke, his natural, unforced authority causing everyone to subconsciously lower their heads, not daring to meet his gaze.

Only Jiang Chen remained calm and composed, completely unaffected.

Police Bureau Chief Jiang Haitian nodded in satisfaction; he was indeed someone who had seen great storms and waves.

For such a major homicide case, perhaps only by handing it over to him could it be solved.

Bang!

Like a thunderclap on flat ground, Police Bureau Chief Jiang Haitian slammed the table, giving everyone a fright.

”In just three short days, three homicide cases, over ten people killed. The higher-ups are already furious and have strictly ordered us to solve the cases within half a month, capture the culprits, and provide an explanation to the victims’ families and society.”

”I have established a special investigation team to investigate the three cases together, with myself serving as the team leader and Deputy Director Jiang as the deputy leader.”

As he spoke, Police Bureau Chief Jiang Haitian turned his gaze to Jiang Chen: ”Deputy Director Jiang, you are a detective genius. What are your thoughts on this matter?”

Seeing that everyone’s eyes were focused on him, Jiang Chen felt a burst of secret delight, though he remained outwardly calm.

He first showed humility, expressing that his qualifications were insufficient to serve as deputy leader.

This show of modesty immediately won the favor of his colleagues in the bureau.

Who didn’t know of Jiang Chen’s capabilities? If he wasn’t capable, no one else at the scene would be qualified for the position.

The young female officers in the bureau looked at Jiang Chen with glowing eyes.

An idol!

Jiang Chen was their idol and, moreover, their dream partner.

Only one person looked at him with nothing more than a bit of admiration, devoid of any other emotion.

Officer Lin Wanzhu’s behavior was once again noticed by Jiang Chen.

This female officer was completely unimpressed by him; such a high-difficulty challenge was exactly what he, Jiang Chen, had been hoping for.

Casting aside those unrealistic fantasies, Jiang Chen began to recount his investigation from this period.

First, it was confirmed that the three who died in the explosion were Zhang Yang and two others. Furthermore, the relationships between Zhang Yang, Wang Hao, and Cao Shuwen had been clarified, and even Chu Yuan was within the scope of his investigation.

”Director, colleagues, according to my investigation, Zhang Yang, Wang Hao, and Cao Shuwen were all classmates, and they attended a class reunion a while ago. The three homicide cases occurred after this reunion, so I suspect that all three cases were committed by the same person.”

”Based on my analysis, we should first invite those who attended the class reunion to the station to clarify the situation that day before proceeding with the next steps of the deployment.”

As he spoke, Jiang Chen produced a list detailing those who attended the class reunion.

Officer Lin Wanzhu picked it up and saw it, and the name Chu Yuan caught her eye.

”Could this matter be related to him?”

This thought couldn’t help but arise in Officer Lin Wanzhu’s mind.

She then remembered that it seemed Chu Yuan had reported a case a while ago, claiming Zhang Yang had swindled him out of twenty million, and not long after, he reported another case regarding Zhang Yang having a large amount of unexplained cash.

If one were to say that Zhang Yang’s case had nothing to do with Chu Yuan, Officer Lin Wanzhu wouldn’t believe it for a second.

”Jiang Chen’s analysis makes sense. These three cases will be investigated together immediately, with Deputy Director Jiang in full charge. Officer Lin Wanzhu, you will assist Deputy Director Jiang in solving the cases.”

Police Bureau Chief Jiang Haitian only glanced at the list for a moment before deciding to hand this major case over to Jiang Chen.

As his gaze landed on Officer Lin Wanzhu, he saw her looking distracted and couldn’t help but remind her: ”Officer Lin Wanzhu, what’s wrong with you? Are you sick?”

”Oh, no!”

Coming back to her senses, Officer Lin Wanzhu hurriedly brought the list to Police Bureau Chief Jiang Haitian, pointed at Chu Yuan’s name, and shook her head.

”Chu Yuan?”

Police Bureau Chief Jiang Haitian was stunned for a moment, then immediately thought of something. A cold sweat broke out on him, and he hurriedly crossed out Chu Yuan’s name.

”Jiang Chen, go ahead and do it. I and the entire police station are your backing.”

After the meeting, Jiang Chen looked at the shortened list given to him by Police Bureau Chief Jiang Haitian and fell into deep thought.

The only name removed was Chu Yuan.

”What were Police Bureau Chief Jiang Haitian and Officer Lin Wanzhu being so secretive about earlier? Why did they want to remove Chu Yuan’s name and not let me investigate him?”

”Could it be that Officer Lin Wanzhu is interested in Chu Yuan, which is why she stopped me?”

”Chu Yuan, no matter who you are, these three homicide cases have something to do with you. I will personally send you to prison.”

Jiang Chen frowned, a feeling called jealousy welling up in his heart.

Having just arrived, Jiang Chen had absolutely no idea what the Shanghai Chu Family was.

His investigation results showed that Chu Yuan was merely a young master of the Chu family and the chairman of Tianlong Group.

To him, Jiang Chen, such a wealthy young master was nothing more than a little brother; he didn’t know how many of them he had trampled back in his hometown.

If Chu Yuan ran into him, Jiang Chen, then that was his bad luck.

Officer Lin Wanzhu seemed somewhat distracted today because of the matter regarding Chu Yuan.

It wasn’t because she liked Chu Yuan, but rather because she was worried that Chu Yuan was truly involved in the case.

As someone from an upper-class family in Shanghai, Officer Lin Wanzhu knew very well that the power of Chu Yuan’s family could arguably be called the uncrowned emperors of Shanghai.

Once Chu Yuan was truly involved in the case, Officer Lin Wanzhu didn’t even dare to imagine the consequences.

This was why Officer Lin Wanzhu had suggested to Police Bureau Chief Jiang Haitian that they should not investigate Chu Yuan for the time being.

After pondering for a while, Officer Lin Wanzhu picked up her phone and made a call.

”Captain Lin, what brings you the time to think of me?”

On the other end of the line came Chu Yuan’s playful smile.

”Young Master Chu, sorry to bother you, but I would like to invite you to dinner tonight. I wonder if Young Master Chu would do me the honor.”

”Captain Lin has helped me with many things; if anyone is to treat, it should be me.”

”How about this? We’ll meet at the Shanghai Commercial City at eight o’clock tonight.”

Hanging up the phone, Chu Yuan stopped smiling, his face cold.

Chu Yuan had already learned about the Shanghai Police Station meeting this morning.

Upon learning that this guy, Jiang Chen, was actually a Protagonist with a system, Chu Yuan had launched an investigation into him.

With the power of the Shanghai Chu Family, finding out everything about Jiang Chen was a matter of minutes.

”Little Protagonist, I hadn’t come to deal with you yet, but you actually dared to deliver yourself to my doorstep.”

”I heard you like Officer Lin Wanzhu, so tonight, I’ll teach you a lesson on what it means to steal someone’s love.”

A sneer appeared on the corner of Chu Yuan’s mouth, and murderous intent surged within him.
