Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 5095 Heaven And Earth Energy Heist

Each Bastion City had thousands of arrays that helped divert the energy spreading from the roots, trunk, branches, and many other parts of the Ethereal Lumina Tree. The density of arrays at the roots was the lowest, but it was important, since that was where the root absorbed energy from the Dragon Realm Vein and distributed it across various Dragon Veins throughout the realm to grow and breathe heaven and energy.

It was said that this was one way in which Dragon Veins came into existence karmically.

Dragon Veins were the earthly source of heaven and energy in a land that isnʼt near the Ethereal Lumina Tree and the Realm Core. In the Upper Realm Space, it was usually tiered into Heaven Dragon Vein that supports Exalts, Earth Dragon Vein that supports Empyreans, and Mortal Dragon Vein that supports Immortal Emperors and below.

If the realm ever starts lacking Dragon Veins and is in dire need of replacement, it was theorized that the Ethereal Lumina Tree will send karmic energy somehow through the roots and Dragon Realm Vein, allowing a Dragon Vein to come into existence.

This process could take thousands or even millions of years, depending on the realmʼs condition.

This was also why a land that has a Dragon Vein was blessed with karmic luck. However, it is said that if this doesnʼt happen for a long time, it would signify the start of a Desolate Era, something which every ruler feared.

However, the fear manifested directly underneath the Bastion Cities and walked through the underground routes.

Davis brought Epsila and Fairy Divinacia to the destination after walking through many pathways. He didnʼt head straight but took many different pathways that didnʼt necessarily lead to the destination.

After ten minutes, the underground corridor eventually widened into a colossal circular chamber.

An enormous formation complex occupied the center of the chamber, layered with tens of thousands of revolving runic circles stacked one above another like heavenly gears. Vast streams of heaven and earth energy flowed through transparent crystalline channels embedded into the walls, floor, and ceiling, converging toward the center before dispersing into countless directions throughout the city, where there were more distribution formations to spread the heaven and earth energy.

But they were certainly not spread evenly, as most of this energy was focused on the core city.

Nonetheless, the air here itself trembled from the density of the heaven and energy. It was incredulous that Davis would feel breathing here felt nourishing.

Because he was City Lord Kain at the moment, he was once again able to breathe in heaven and earth energy without having to use Enigmatic Heart Laws to impose his Will.

It felt so good as though he was high up in the mountains and inhaling the purest, freshest air to exist in the world, although it was certainly damp.

At the center, a gigantic azure crystal sphere hundreds of meters wide floated. Countless threads of luminous energy flowed within it like rivers trapped inside a star. Every few moments, the sphere pulsed softly, causing the surrounding formations to rotate and redistribute energy toward different Dragon Veins across the city, keeping a constant flow of heaven and earth energy that didnʼt let them die off because of karma.

Fairy Divinaciaʼs eyes glowed faintly with fascination.

”So this is the Primary Distribution Node you talked about…”

”Indeed.”

City Lord Davis nodded. The moment he karmic impersonated City Lord Kain, his plan to steal energy became clearer in his mind since he now knew the ins and outs of this area, not to mention had full control and authority to invite and evict any person from here.

Right now, there are only a few maintenance groups, at most three at any given time. They were enslaved for a period of time to keep things running here, and were not allowed to visit the light of day until their enslavement or imprisonment period was over, since they were originally prisoners who had committed a crime. As long as they worked hard here, they could get back their freedom.

Regardless, he had paid them a visit and ʼgreetedʼ them, so they would turn a blind eye to the things that were going to happen here.

There was also one damned old, near-dead Level Nine Exalt sleeping by the side, so Davis had to wake him up and ʼgreetʼ him as well.

No one was spared.

”Ah, I see. So these ladies are here to check the arrays and fine-tune the energy distribution for better conservation. Alright, Iʼll go back to my coffin then and hope for a breakthrough to the World Hegemon Stage.”

”Haha, arenʼt you a greedy one to try at this age? But good luck.”

Davis gave a thumbs up and then turned to look at Fairy Divinacia, who blinked.

The old, dried corpse-looking man nearly spat out a mouthful of blood.

Was he woken up just for this matter? He wondered if he would still be alive the next time someone tried to wake him up.

”Letʼs start.”

Davis calmly walked toward a towering formation pillar near the crystal sphere.

Archaic Sky Word runes rotated around the pillar while streams of numerical symbols continuously shifted across its surface. Formation equations are altered every second to stabilize the balance between absorption, distribution, reserve storage, and Dragon Vein nourishment.

The complexity was enough to make ordinary formation experts vomit blood from confusion.

Davis also didnʼt understand much as the complexities were far above his studies. However, City Lord Kain knew how to operate it. He placed his hand on the pillar with the formation core in his hand.

His soul force silently spread into the formation network.

*Bzz~*

The surrounding runes slightly shifted.

”What are you doing?” The dry, old corpse-looking man rose from his coffin, looking somewhat hesitant.

”As the City Lord, I also know how to maintain this formation. Go sleep.”

”Alright.”

The dry, old, corpse-like man sank back into the coffin, but this time, Epsila rushed to the coffin before casting a look at Davis.

”...?” Davis shook his head.

Epsila shook her head.

”...!” Davis shook his head twice.

Epsila shook her head twice.

She then waved her hand and closed the coffin lid with a loud thud, causing it to be temporarily sealed before turning to look at Davis with an innocent smile, nearly making Davis burst out laughing.

ʼThis little spirit... how mischievous...ʼ

Fortunately, that undying guard didnʼt return to make things difficult.

He kept his focus as his fingers moved across the formation pillar.

Several streams of symbols changed direction, which caused the flow of energy to suddenly undergo a change.

This caused the distribution factor to drop by a few percent, which would have prompted the maintenance crew to rush here, but he had already told them not to come.

The gigantic crystal sphere in the center pulsed once more before the flow of energy settled down. But this time around, a valve seemed to have overloaded and started leaking heaven and earth energy.

Pure azure-white energy began flowing out like heavenly mist.

It was only a small leak, yet the amount of heaven and earth energy escaping from it was enough to fuel a High-Level Exaltʼs cultivation session through an energy gathering formation.

”Fairy Divinacia, please~”

City Lord Davis gestured respectfully.

The Seraphic Azure Tree Fairy stepped forward.

Phantom roots spread beneath her feet and translucent branches manifested behind her back like an illusory heavenly tree. In the middle section of the tree were three thick, dense branches, developing in two directions and extending into six translucent wings.

A tiny azure seed slowly emerged above her big bosoms.

It was none other than the reserve seed.

It was the core storage organ unique to Azure Trees and Seraphic Azure Trees, capable of storing absurd quantities of pure heaven and earth energy for future growth, healing, or even as nourishment to others.

The leaking energy instantly reacted to her existence.

*Bzz~*

It didnʼt take long for all the surrounding energy and the one leaking to form a massive current. Like rivers returning to the sea, the streams of heaven and earth energy flowed toward her body in spiraling currents.

The reserve seed began glowing brilliantly.

Layer after layer of pure energy compressed into it with astonishing efficiency.

Davis could visibly sense the terrifying concentration increasing within that tiny seed. What appeared no larger than a marble now contained enough heaven and earth energy to sustain a few Low Stage Exalts cultivating at full power for hundreds of years.

Yet Fairy Divinacia showed no signs of stopping, like she was a bottomless abyss. Her rate of absorption was also crazy, so when she pulled in energy that was flowing through that valveʼs channel, she also ended up making the distribution number slightly drop, but it was still within the threshold that raised alarms.

Even if the alarms went off, it would only invite the maintenance crew and not the other Bastion citiesʼ attention, so Davis wasnʼt worried.

Actually, this wasnʼt even his plan, but the City Lordʼs plan to siphon energy for his gains after things have settled down and this old guard has finally died. Thatʼs why Davis quickly knew what to do. With him being able to corrupt Wills and get his way, this couldnʼt go any easier.

Nonetheless, with his plan to siphon energy going well, he relaxed.

If he was right, he felt Fairy Divinacia should be able to store energy at the level of layer limit many times over because she was a Level Four Alpha Exalt existence herself with an extraordinary prowess that made her a near-layer limit existence!

”Epsila, itʼs your turn. Join this elder sister and see if you can also store energy.”

Davis addressed Epsila in a serious tone, causing her to stop looking at Fairy Divinacia curiously before she nodded at him.

She was still a Level Nine Empyrean and knew she couldnʼt match Fairy Divinacia, but she still rushed to the leak, appearing not afraid to go against the tumultuous current of heaven and earth energy.

”Ah?”
