Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 5072 Barely Escaped?

The handsome fatty eventually returned, his expression scrunched up with an irritated expression.

Clearly, Dordu had gotten away.

”Fuck, those city guards impeded me!”

The handsome fattyʼs hulking figure quickly turned back into one of bubbly fat as he landed on the ground. He then ran towards his subordinates and saw that, apart from a few injuries, they looked fine.

He nodded before looking at the corpses and then towards the mansion, where he saw Dragon come out while holding about three corpses in his grasp as he dragged them along.

”Youʼre already done?”

Davis asked with a chuckle, ”Thatʼs too bad since I hoped to take part in it- oh, wait. Thereʼs a soul hiding in that crack of that barrier.”

He suddenly pointed towards the exit.

The handsome fatty didnʼt move as he still stared at Davis, but the subordinates turned to look back.

”Ahhh!”

The Level Three Primarch, who barely managed to escape and hide himself, shrieked like a woman. His soul wisp instantly transformed into a dark shooting star and fled along the range of the barrier before slipping out of the hole in the giant crack.

He successfully escaped.

”Boss…”

The subordinates looked at the handsome fatty wistfully as though telling him it was a missed opportunity.

”Tsk, tsk, you thought I betrayed you?” Davis clicked his tongue before he said with an unrestrained voice, ”Too bad. I just went to pick apart some hidden assassins, since if I claim second at finding concealed cultivators, no one would dare to claim first.”

He threw the assassins at the handsome fattyʼs feet.

With a sickening thud, they landed.

The handsome fatty cast his glance down.

There was no sign of blood or injuries, which meant that they were all killed by a flawless soul attack. Whatʼs more, these were Level Three Primarchs.

It was unbelievable that a Level Three Empyrean like Dragon could take them down, which could only mean that his initial theory of Dragon wearing some kind of artifact to conceal his aura was true.

Davis wasnʼt kidding when he was making his claim. After all, he had even saved a concealed Natalya from the heavens.

With his Will and the perception of his soul, it was nearly impossible for any lifeform to stay hidden in his soul sense sweep unless their concealment ability was far above him. Even then, if they tried to make a move on him, his instinct to death or even fate would allow him to know that there was danger present.

”Hopefully, youʼre on my side then.”

The handsome fatty uttered as he heaved a breath.

As the leader of an ancient power, he didnʼt know how many legacy artifacts Dragon carried. One should never mess with a power at their home-ground with enough forces, and he recognized Dragon was probably walking around with a bunch of legacy treasures.

To support this theory, the handsome fatty chuckled as he asked.

”You saw me just now. Do you think you can defeat me, much less claim that you can stand against Saint Riyal Mendez or even slap the Divine Emperor of Death?”

Davis blinked, his expression amused.

He thought for a moment before saying, ”Honestly, Iʼm not a match just by battle prowess alone, but if I get serious and use my treasures, I could easily crush you.”

ʼYeah, this mysterious poser is a walking fortress…!ʼ

The handsome fattyʼs round body shook as he nearly laughed out loud. He finally understood Dragonʼs confidence.

Davis had no idea what misunderstanding the handsome fatty was reeling, but he let him be.

Instead, he looked towards the hole in the barrier, faintly heaving a heavy breath.

It had been a close call.

The Celestial Transcendent had been just here, unexpectedly helping out the fatty until he could rush to this place.

Davis couldnʼt tell why. Regardless, if he hadnʼt spotted the Celestial Transcendent beforehand, then things couldʼve gone very wrong here. Because he had spotted the Celestial Transcendent beforehand, it had been easier for him to use a soul essence he had stored in his soul essence to mask his aura.

Hence, even as the Celestial Transcendentʼs soul sense swept over him briefly, it didnʼt manage to find his aura.

It was an application of Enigmatic Heart Laws and Illusion Laws applied to the karmic impersonation of a soul essence. Instead of impersonating an entire Will and their existence, he was just impersonating their aura.

Karmic Impersonation - Aura Duplication. A new technique he had researched in the last week, but it was just an offshoot of the Karmic Impersonation Technique. It was not difficult for him to grasp this technique when the foundation was already there.

Unless he used a ridiculous technique like this, he wouldnʼt be confident in duping the Celestial Transcendentʼs avatarʼs senses even if he was wearing an illusory aura scrambling ring gifted by Fairy Laphria Rinmei.

It didnʼt copy someone elseʼs aura but scrambled oneʼs own aura enough to change it quite a but he had no confidence that would fool the Celestial Transcendent.

Davis inwardly sighed.

He was already forced to use one part of the escape plan.

ʼHopefully, the Celestial Transcendent was too tired or distracted to even notice…ʼ

Davis wondered if the Celestial Transcendent was hiding in some corner, observing the outcome. He didnʼt dare unleash his soul sense as he was cautious of being deciphered. Right now, his aura was back to normal, after all. He kept his aura concealed and suppressed.

”Anyway, Iʼm glad you didnʼt betray.” The handsome fatty said spiritedly, ”I donʼt like betrayals.”

His previous solemness was nowhere to be seen.

”I donʼt like either.” Davis shrugged as he moved towards the corpses and tried to secretly absorb their departing soul essences.

After all, even an Autarch was capable of sensing the departing soul essence, much less a Primarch. However, whether they could capture it or not was another question altogether. They would not be fighting against the soul but the pull of the reincarnation cycle.

If the Autarchs and Primarchs hadnʼt prepared for their reincarnations, then the most likely result was that they would return to the reincarnation cycle and be devoured whole. Hence, the reincarnation cycleʼs pull for these soul essences of this level was even more crazy.

However, in Davisʼs hand, they were as tame as a pet, his reincarnation physique pulsing and resonating to their wisps. The soul essences were clearly heading towards Davis as though he were the reincarnation cycle!

Nonetheless, Davis needed to hide his actions.

He crouched down at their mangled corpses and started rummaging nonchalantly. Then, as though he remembered something, he paused and turned to look at the fatty.

”Handsome fatty, you donʼt mind me taking their spatial rings, right?”

”…” The handsome fatty was dumbfounded.

He had never seen someone so shameless as to loot what they hadnʼt killed in someone elseʼs home.

However, he still waved his hand.

”Do, do, do whatever you want. If the other side learns that youʼve committed theft against them and even helped me, then they wonʼt let you go, and youʼll be forced to join me forever, our fates intertwined.”

Davisʼs lips parted as though he was hesitant before he gestured.

”My condolences.”

He then returned to rummaging like a scavenger.

The handsome fatty turned speechless for a while.

”Boss, he says that itʼs bad for you and not him.” His subordinate had to wake him out of his reverie.

”I know that!”

The handsome fatty roared, his cheeks reddening.

Why couldnʼt he seem to win in an argument against a junior? Was this guy still a junior? Even after seeing his Stone Titan Bloodline, a royal race amongst the Giant Race, Dragon still wasnʼt shaken. This made him see in a new light.

Still, what a loss of face.

”Damned fatty, what have you done to the buildings outside? Everything is ruined. Come out and show your face right now!”

A furious voice suddenly resounded around the area.

The handsome fatty blinked, ”Itʼs the Head Guard of this part of the core city.”

”Whoa, so convenient.” Davisʼs eyes gleamed.

”Whatʼs so convenient about this?” The handsome fatty said, irritated.

He had let his enemies escape. Even though he knew it was difficult to kill Primarchs at his level, he still wanted to kill that traitor. However, he was impeded by the guards, so he had to return before they could apprehend him on sight.

Suddenly, he realized Dragonʼs meaning, ”Oh, right, itʼs convenient for Thousand Windblades to use this chance to frame me with some crimes, but who cares? I still have the law on my side. As long as there is the semblance of laws, and I have power, they canʼt drag me out to simply behead me. Come, letʼs go see what they have prepared for us.”
