Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 5088 Status Of The Current Battlefield

Six-Headed Hydra Upper Realm, in the battlefield where the Galaxy Wormhole manifested.

The battlefield surrounding the Galaxy Wormhole seemed to have long descended into ruin.

The space around the battlefield looked wounded.

Shattered asteroids pulled from space drifted like broken bones through the darkness, while rivers of molten debris floated amidst collapsed spatial fractures. Countless warships burned in the distance, some split in half while others remained embedded within gigantic beast carcasses. Blood floated everywhere.

There seemed to be barely any differentiation between human blood and beast blood. Even the stars seemed dimmed beneath that suffocating crimson haze.

The stench of death permeated the battlefield.

Hundreds of millions had already died in a few days.

Above the main command platform of the Six-Headed Hydra Galaxy coalition army, thousands of formation screens flickered in the air, displaying troop positions, casualty numbers, retreat paths, and unstable region fluctuations.

A middle-aged soldier clad in dark bronze armor knelt before the elevated throne platform.

His armor was stained black-red with blood and ash. One of his pauldrons had been completely shattered, exposing wounds that had yet to heal properly. Despite his exhausted appearance, his expression remained firm as he cupped his fists toward the figure seated above.

”Reporting to the Realm Master.”

His voice echoed heavily through the silent command hall.

”The Ninth and Eleventh Hydra Legions have successfully reclaimed the outer meteor belt surrounding the eastern flank. However, the opposing galaxyʼs coalition forces retreated before complete encirclement could be achieved.”

Formation screens shifted with a wave of the Realm Masterʼs hand, and an enormous battlefield projection emerged.

The soldier raised his hand toward a region near the swirling Galaxy Wormhole.

”They abandoned three defensive sectors and withdrew toward the wormhole perimeter itself. Our scouts report that they have erected layered spatial fortifications around the entrance.”

The projection zoomed inward.

Gigantic fortress constructs floated around the Galaxy Wormhole like iron mountains. Tens of thousands of ships formed rotating defensive formations while colossal beasts coiled around spatial anchors to stabilize the wormhole currents that began suppressing them due to their huge capacity to pull and push.

”The enemy appears intent on stalling for time rather than launching another frontal assault.”

The soldierʼs voice grew grim.

”Our losses currently exceed two hundred and three million soldiers, most of them at the Sovereign Stage. Beast casualties are impossible to estimate accurately due to spatial fragmentation, but I can assure you that for every man we lost, they would have lost thrice or more. Still, we cannot seem to end this war because of the several battlefield zones that remain contaminated by poison and deathly air.”

Silence filled the hall.

Many commanders lowered their eyes.

Even for cultivators who had witnessed countless wars, those numbers remained horrifying. This was the scale that happened between two galaxies.

The Realm Master sat motionlessly atop the black throne, unwilling to speak.

It wasnʼt because he found the situation bleak. To him, this wasnʼt bleak, but what was bleak was the gaze behind him.

On the hidden side of the command platform, a black-robed man sat too, his gaze on Realm Master Malzor Hexadra, although his pupils didnʼt appear focused.

There were also people reporting to him, Heavenʼs Warriors.

They reported on the situation of the attacks in various places by the Heavenly Blight Hall. He was aware since he was also trying to chase them with his avatars, but new reports kept coming in letting him know that they didnʼt intend to stay or seemed to have a plan to do something.

At this moment, a graceful figure descended from the air, landing at the hidden side of the command hall.

Green-white robes fluttered softly around her slender frame. A pair of translucent verdant wings manifested faintly behind her back like an illusion formed from heavenly mist. Her beauty appeared serene, yet her eyes carried sharp intelligence capable of dissecting every detail of the battlefield.

It was none other than Venerable Knight Lussandra.

She looked toward the battlefield projection silently before speaking.

”The blood karma has already reached a dangerous threshold.”

Her soft voice caused the atmosphere to grow heavier.

She lifted her hand slightly, and a stream of crimson energy appeared before everyone. Within it were countless screaming faces, shattered Wills, lingering resentment, and fragments of souls unable to rest properly.

”The war between two galaxies already creates unimaginable karmic turbulence, but this conflict involves more than two major forces since countless subordinate realms have also been dragged into the slaughter.”

Her brows furrowed slightly, ”In other words, this is no different from the accumulation of hatred, massacre, despair, and resentment found in the battlefields of the realm pathways leading to other galaxies in the First Layer. If this continues for another a few days or weeks, Iʼm afraid…”

Her gaze slowly shifted to the Galaxy Wormhole, which looked beautiful in comparison.

”The Asura Dimension may open.”

Several commanders stiffened. One elderly Primarchʼs face immediately turned pale, appearing to have some trauma from the battlefield.

However, it wasnʼt about the other galaxiesʼ forces.

It was the Asura Dimensionʼs forces, the monsters, those bloody creatures.

It was a dimension born from endless slaughter and karmic corruption of blood. Once opened, it would devour battlefields like a starving abyss. It was very difficult to stop them. It was as though were a natural limiter for galaxies to not interfere with each other.

The more bloodshed there was, the stronger it became, and the stronger creatures appeared.

The Supreme One remained silent for a few moments before saying, ”The probability is extremely low since this is a new battlefield. It wonʼt happen, but with these Divergents appearing one after another…”

He brought his hand to his face, looking like he had a headache.

”The Heavenly Blight Hall,” A general said, appearing irritated, ”What are they doing here making trouble?”

At the mention of that name, many commanders revealed unsightly expressions.

Venerable Knight Lussandra continued.

”During this time, they have suddenly launched coordinated attacks across several sanctuaries built to withstand the erosion of desolate air. I donʼt think they have evil intentions since they havenʼt targeted anyone but Heavenʼs Warriors like us, so if this is an attempt to divert our attention, are they planning to help the Nine-Headed Hydra Galaxyʼs forces to enter?”

”Is their intention to suppress us here?” A Venerable Elder asked.

”Possible.” The Supreme One responded softly, his voice filled with a bit of exhaustion, ”They may want to keep us here to stop us from realizing something. That was how they always acted when moving against ordinary people, and even recently, they helped the Divine Emperor of Death undergo his tribulation.”

”Is it possible that theyʼre doing the same thing now?” Venerable Knight Lussandra asked.

23:21

”How is that possible?” That Venerable Elder harrumphed, ”The Divine Emperor of Death had just broken through. How could he return here and seek death? Iʼm sure that these traitorous humans, who are also evil Divergents, have joined with the forces of the Hydra galaxy.”

”Not necessarily.” Venerable Knight Lussandraʼs beautiful eyes fluttered, ”I think the Divine Emperor of Death is here.”

”…”

For a moment, the hidden command platform became silent.

Only the distant sounds of war echoed faintly through the void outside.

Explosions, beastly roars, and the trembling of unstable space.

Even Realm Master Malzor Hexadra, on the other side, tried to listen as he stood beside the walls after his generals and soldiers left.

”Why do you think so?” Another Venerable Elder asked, ”Venerable Knight Lussandra, Iʼm not doubting your ability to reason, but you have failed not once but twice in hunting down the Divine Emperor of Death. We need to hunt him and seal him, but this-”

He pointed at the Galaxy Wormhole, ”This is important. Even though weʼre Heavenʼs Warriors, we are also humans. We cannot sit around and talk about Divergents while we invite enemies to our houses.”

Venerable Knight Lussandra cupped her hands, ”You are right, elder. Lussandra is wrong.”

”Aiya,” The Supreme One waved his hand, ”We will all lay down our lives for the human race. Thereʼs no doubt about that. Let Little Lussandra speak, and weʼll decide on what to do because Iʼm also of the idea that the Divine Emperor of Death is here, but Little Lussandra is way more familiar with his methods than all of us.”

Venerable Knight Lussandra lowered her head slightly before slowly straightening her posture again.

Her verdant wings flickered faintly behind her back as though reacting to the turbulent karmic atmosphere outside the command platform.

”I understand Elderʼs concerns.”

Her calm voice carried neither dissatisfaction nor embarrassment.

”In truth, I also hope my judgment is wrong.”

The Supreme One leaned against the back of his seat while rubbing his forehead. Even a figure of his level appeared mentally exhausted after overseeing a galaxy-scale war for days without rest, but the main issue wasnʼt the war but the Divergents running around, difficult to capture.

Lussandra slowly raised her hand, and the battlefield projection changed again.

Several locations began glowing with pale light.

”These are the sanctuaries attacked by the Heavenly Blight Hall.”

Then more marks appeared.

”These are the routes taken by Heavenʼs Warriors sent to intercept them.”
