Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 5081 Head Guard Rowen Vouches

”Thatʼs none of your concern. This person should report only to the City Lord, given the secrecy. If anything happens, you can have my head in a platter.”

”…”

The City Commander was stunned. He never knew Head Guard Rowen was such a person, which meant the other party must be of significant status or relation, or have information of great importance.

However, little did he know that the Head Guard was absolutely corrupted.

”This… Itʼs difficult. Since the city is in lockdown, Saint Riyal Mendez was unable to move to the next city as previously planned, so he plans to spend time in the City Lordʼs Manor and attend a banquet at night. He should be here soon-”

”You dare block us!? Letʼs see if you can handle the aftermath after the City Lord punishes you for not allowing us inside faster!”

The City Commander saw that Head Guard Rowen dared to say this even after mentioning Saint Riyal Mendez. Didnʼt Head Guard Rowen try to latch onto the Saintʼs legs to gain more power? Whatʼs going on?

He finally felt the situation must be urgent and was above his pay grade.

Even though he could also be considered a Peak-Level Primarch, there were still many out there who were more powerful than him. After all, there were two minor stages of difference between a Level Nine Primarch and one who was at the layer limit.

”Alright, but you two will follow the convention and hand over your weapons and rings. If you canʼt hand over the rings, thatʼs fine. You need to wear a spatial lock bracelet that disallows one from taking something out of the rings, so if you have brought some gifts or physical information, take it out and keep it in this empty life ring.”

The City Commander accepted their entry but demanded their cooperation.

Head Guard Rowen didnʼt know what to do, so he turned to look at Davis, who nodded.

”Also, the mask…”

”Didnʼt I say Iʼll take responsibility? So nosy…” Head Guard Rowen said, annoyed.

The City Commander chuckled in derision before gesturing, ”Please.”

Davis came forward before obtaining the empty life ring. It was unbound. He thought for a moment before sending in a few items inside and then wore the spatial lock bracelets on both wrists.

Instantly, the Temporal Voidplane Ring began humming, refusing to be sealed by a mere bracelet, but Davis forcefully suppressed it and forcefully smiled at the City Commander.

He was almost exposed.

”Good treasure!”

The City Commander noticed the peculiarity of the spatial ring Davis wore before accepting the weapons from Head Guard Rowen. He then took both of them to be body checked, which included checking their dantians for concealed weapons, but Head Guard Rowen began roaring at the top of his lungs, leaving the City Commander no choice but to take them inside.

After they crossed the gates, Davis uttered, ”Is Saint Riyal Mendez really coming here?”

”He is.” The City Commander nodded, ”Is the reason youʼre here connected with him?”

”No, itʼs about the City Lord himself.”

”Oh, so itʼs personal. In any case, behave formally and donʼt make a fuss. Your arrival has been reported to the City Lord, so he should come out of his work to meet you. Heʼs a busy person.”

”Of course, someone who takes care of an entire city is bound to be always busy.”

Davis made some small talk with the City Commander until they reached a secluded place where they were being transported to the upper floors. It was like a lift heading upwards, but the platform was made up of wood and was powered by propulsion formations.

But since the place was enclosed, Davis smiled as he turned to look at the City Commander, glancing at the Temporal Voidplane Ring.

”Interested in my treasure?”

”Indeed, it seems a notch above even the most luxurious and unique spatial rings Iʼve seen.”

The City Commander seemed genuinely curious as he knew some powers went to design their spatial rings in unique ways.

On the other hand, Davis raised his hand and patted the City Commanderʼs shoulder armor.

”Listen to me and become my secret loyal follower.”

”Haha!” The City Commander laughed and only felt that this person must have a significant status indeed.

However, his expression underwent a subtle change before he turned to look at the masked man.

”Alright, Iʼll be your loyal follower secretly from now on.”

The change was so seamless and abrupt that it even had Head Guard Rowen blinking in shock, not realizing that even he had also been hit with the same type of corruption. Instead, he had only felt that his own loyalty to this masked man was worth it, giving him a sense of pride.

”Good, good, good.”

Davis patted the City Commanderʼs shoulder guards fiercely as though he was meeting a friend, ”Delay the Saint for some time. The City Lord and I have too many important matters to discuss.”

”Understood.”

The City Commander cupped his hands and bowed to Davis.

Davis then lied that the ring was a legacy artifact that could unleash spacequakes as well as store items like any spatial ring.

The City Commander was full of awe, not even minding that it was a weapon anymore.

On the other hand, Davis was still at a loss as to where the limit of his State of Divine Possession lay.

Without an external help like the armor Head Guard Rowen wore, the City Commander was quickly corrupted without even a hint of resistance.

Even though Primarchs necessarily didnʼt have natural resistance against Will attacks, Peak-Level Primarchs should at least have a Will that was as powerful as an Early Stage Primarch, right?

He felt troubled that these people didnʼt even have soul methods to block Will attacks.

He wasnʼt worried about them but felt like he must train his family to block Will attacks. However, he didnʼt have any proper techniques of such nature, making him feel the urgent need to create some.

He seriously began thinking about where to start right at the spot he stood.

By the time the City Commander resumed his position, the elevating wooden platform stopped, and a door opened in front of them, allowing them to step out and head into the thirty-third floor, where the City Lord was present at the highest point of the city, where the heaven and earth energy was the densest!

”Welcome to the City Lordʼs quarters.”

A man in a black stewardʼs robe cupped his hands and bowed along with rows of maids.

Davis saw his next target, but since he obtained the City Commander, he wondered if he should control the Steward as well. There seemed to be no need for it since he got into the mansion and even the City Lordʼs quarters...?
