Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 5090 Chasing After A Ghost?

”Supreme One, as Heavenʼs Warriors, we can feel the anger in the skies. Clearly, the heavens wonʼt be appeased until we seal the Divine Emperor of Death, and if we donʼt, our human galaxy will be tainted by the desolate air sooner or later. Do you see the Galaxy Wormhole?”

”By all right, the desolate air should be spreading to the other galaxy through the Galaxy Wormhole, but our spies have reported the spread has stagnated, not spreading beyond the region of the wormhole.”

”Clearly, the heavens want to punish our human race.”

”You dare go against the heavens?” The Supreme One raised his brows.

”I dare not!”

Venerable Knight quickly lowered her head, ”But I wonʼt stand like a bystander watching this happen either.”

The Supreme One watched her solemnly before he drank another cup of wine and sighed lightly, chuckling to himself.

”Our human race has always gone against the ways of the natural order by cultivating to heights that we arenʼt supposed to reach. It could be said we have offended the Heavenʼs creation countless times, but we have also made up for it with our loyalty and praise. However, some of us truly go above in offending the heavens like the Sky Word Emperor, who imposed his Will and introduced the Sky Word Language, not to mention me, who has recently been too disobedient. Although the heavens have always been fair, now that the human race has produced a being like the Divine Emperor of Death, the first Desolate Divergent, it naturally wants to take us down a peg.”

*Bang!~*

Above the stormy clouds, a bolt of lightning formed soundlessly and quickly struck the ground beside the Celestial Transcendent in the blink of an eye.

”Heh~”

He poured another cup nonchalantly and drank with his head high, gazing at the skies.

Venerable Knight Lussandra couldnʼt stop her tremble, her expression pale as she saw the lightning carry the aura of desolation. This was undoubtedly a warning strike to stop being disrespectful.

She had rarely ever seen the heavens give a warning to Heavenʼs Warriors, but it made sense since they were always its eyes and vision within the living world. It would know what they were talking about. They were within its jurisdiction to be punished. This meant that even as Heavenʼs children, they had touched its bottom line, making her mind tremble.

The Supreme One made a sound of satisfaction as he clicked his tongue before standing up and walking to Venerable Knight Lussandra. He patted her shoulder softly and sent her a physical soul transmission.

”Donʼt mind it. The heavens will be like that sometimes.”

Venerable Knight Lussandra was finally able to stop her shuddering as she calmed down. She nodded at her, the Supreme One, with a thankful gaze.

”So you truly believe the Divine Emperor of Death is here to do something about the desolate air?”

The Supreme One asked, causing Venerable Knight Lussandra to ponder before revealing, ”Actually, these arenʼt my thoughts alone.”

”Oh? Whose is it then?”

”An anonymous letter arrived. It was addressed to me, but from the writing and the way it was written to me, Iʼm inclined to think it was a Heavenʼs Warrior. I tried to track them down but failed. However, this gave me a bit more belief that the Divine Emperor of Death might really be trying to do something about the desolate era instead of coming here to sabotage the war or even conquer the realm.”

ʼInteresting… this Heavenʼs Warriors was actually confined to that bratʼs place for some time before he convinced them that he wasnʼt an evil person. It appears like this person is familiar with the ways of the Davis Family…ʼ

The Supreme One laughed soundlessly, unable to believe what he was reading. He gave the letter back to Venerable Knight Lussandra.

”Alright, it doesnʼt matter if that bratʼs here to do something like that, but what Iʼm sure of is that if heʼs in the Bastion Cities, he will surely target Thousand Windblades based on his character. That ridiculous Saint might also be a bonus since he has produced a Divine Technique that even I want. That brat would surely target them, so go find the Saintʼs group, but donʼt make contact with them.”

”Supreme One, werenʼt you already monitoring them?” Venerable Knight Lussandra looked confused.

Thousand Windblades and the Saint were the most important targets for the Divine Emperor of Death. There were also two more, but they werenʼt given importance due to the fact that Thousand Windblades was there with them.

The Supreme One looked troubled, ”This… Iʼm afraid I would kill the Saint even before that brat makes a move. I couldnʼt tolerate his behavior, so I left a few others to monitor him, but if you go, I will be reassured. Right now, I have both avatars chasing after a ghost and a female Divergent near the Bastion Cities, so I wonʼt be able to come there anytime soon. One of them is formidable as she was the one who killed Venerable Knight Damien, but I didnʼt expect the other to be also formidable.”

He pursed his lips, not expecting to meet a mere assassin from a regional assassination organization to be able to hide well from his avatar. He felt that there must be more to the other partyʼs concealment power than meets the eye.

”Understood.” Venerable Knight Lussandra nodded, ”This Saint… he…”

”Donʼt worry. That unsavory Saint wonʼt make a move on you since heʼs only interested in married women.”

”So heʼs not a target of protection?”

”Of course not. Although we have secretly given him a treasure through Malzor Hexadra that could block Will and soul attacks, it is also a treasure that contains a pocket realm. We know the moment it shatters, the Divine Emperor of Death is there. It will create a temporary maze where the aggressor will be trapped for some time, so hopefully, the trap works, and the bait gets killed without us needing to make a move. As a result, not only will we get the Divine Techniques which can be used as it was intended, we will also capture the Divine Emperor of Death.”

”…” Venerable Knight Lussandraʼs brows twitched.

This was clearly another offense against the heavens since they would be going against natural order. She knew that for a person like the Celestial Transcendent, he would release a diluted version of it after having his wife learn it so that every Autarch, Primarch, and even eventually a Hierarch could have a greater chance at having children again.

”Supreme One, you shouldnʼt be going against natural order and be this disobedient.”

”You little girl, you dare to scold me? I will send you to listen to the scriptures of a virtuous Heavenʼs Warrior written by those old-”

”Iʼll take my leave.”

Venerable Knight Lussandra cupped her hands and left, leaving the Celestial Transcendentʼs hand hanging before he nodded.

”Good, good. May you capture that brat and prove those stubborn little elders wrong. As for this wormhole...”

He turned to look at this troublesome happening. It seemed like it would be extremely difficult to close it since the Heavenʼs Will was to keep it open after it had fully opened.
