Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 5069 Escalating Situation?

The Handsome Giant Consortium seemed to wait in the restaurant, bantering and feasting.

At this point, there were no outsiders. There was only handsome fatty and his loyal subordinates. The rest had made excused and eventually left, leaving only Davis sitting beside the fatty.

Davis didnʼt talk much unless addressed.

He just sat, savoring the delicacies that he never had the chance to eat since he had always been given the best of the best, like dragon and phoenix meat. The various tastes exploded in his mouth, extending his taste palette.

He just silently listened beneath his crow mask.

Finally, someone who wore the uniform of the restaurant came in and whispered into the fattyʼs ear.

The handsome fattyʼs expression turned solemn.

He nodded at that person before he continued eating the food, but his movements were slow and his mouth bit less. His actions seemed to be delayed as he appeared to be deep in thought. Eventually, he looked at his subordinates before turning to look at Davis.

”Dragon, this could be your last chance to leave.”

”What? That phony Saint finally entered the city?” Davis chuckled.

”Phony…?”

The handsome fattyʼs big lips twitched, ”Heʼs a true Saint.”

”I know heʼs a true Saint, but that kind of term doesnʼt fit anyone, nor the Divine Emperor of Death. Iʼll tell you that a Saint must be absolutely moral, help people in danger, aid-”

”Alright, alright, letʼs not get into the philosophical nature of a Saint. As long as weʼre born human, weʼre bound to rejoice in joy over the misfortune of hated ones, much less try to make ourselves happy even at the cost of others. Even Divergents arenʼt all that evil, okay?”

”…” Davis paused and put his hands down as he smiled, ”Fatty, youʼre not bad… not bad at all.”

The handsome fatty rolled his eyes before he patted Davisʼs shoulder.

”So I take it that youʼre sticking with me despite the danger. Alright, I, Bjorn Mazzork, will remember this.”

”Mazzork…”

Davisʼs eyes gleamed.

He finally knew why this fatty acted so boldly.

”Sly old monster. Of course, you know…” Bjorn Mazzork chuckled, ”But you can continue to call me handsome fatty. I prefer that way, especially so I can stay mysterious and stomp my enemies before they could even see it coming.”

”By now, donʼt you think this city already knows?”

”You are right,” The handsome fatty looked a bit dejected, ”Iʼve already used a bit of my bloodline powers, and rumors have spread. The element of surprise could no longer be used as a card. The one who informed me told me that Saint Riyal Mendez has entered the city and his cronies have tried to investigate everything about me from my own network laughably, so by tonight or tomorrow, I guess I will face a power dismantling threat.”

Davis blinked, ”What do you need to be worried about? Donʼt tell me you donʼt have a connection with the Mazzork Clan?”

”Bro, Iʼm just an orphan, alright? I canʼt be a part of them, nor would they accept any outsiders, since theyʼre nearly extinct. Everything you see about me and my consortium is built from my own strength and, of course, my brothers!”

”Yeah!” The subordinates cheered.

Davis sighed as he extended his hand and patted the fattyʼs broad shoulders, ”Hard luck.”

”Canʼt be harder than the Divine Emperor of Deathʼs luck.” The handsome fatty skillfully deflected the pity.

”…”

Davis was speechless. Why was this fatty using Divine Emperor of Death for every comparison? Could he be an ardent fan or a passionate hater?

There were a lot of people in the former unexpectedly.

Although many hated him for bringing about the desolate era, many also secretly liked to see him thrash the ruling powers since it meant that they could run about freely. It was as though they were saved by his presence, thinking they also had the chance to become half the threat like him or even less.

If they couldnʼt achieve his feats, they wanted to at least replicate his fame, especially with beauties.

His story of conquering beauties also wasnʼt anything special since there were even more ridiculous stories out there, but turning those beauties or conquering them while they were powerful also brought the envy of the entire world. Whatʼs more infuriating was that all these women were so loyal that they were willing to die with him even as the world condones them that they are evil for joining with the Divine Emperor of Death.

If this wasnʼt love, then what is?

They wanted to experience such a thing with their companions in this long journey known as immortality or transcendence.

”Alright, you go home. Better take care of your people first.”

”What are you worried about?” Davis harrumphed boisterously, ”That phony Saint ainʼt nothing. Letʼs see what he can do while Iʼm with you.”

”Thatʼs reassuring.”

The handsome fatty laughed before finishing up and heading out.

The entire Handsome Giant Consortium headed out before the handsome fatty saw in the corner of his eyes Davis dealing with a patrolling guard at the alleyway. He wondered what he was up to, but didnʼt think too much since he had also bribed the guards too many times to count.

Davis indeed brought a guard to the alleyway.

The guard also followed suit, thinking he was going to receive a handsome sum of crystals when he heard the other party say.

”From now on, you shall forget your innate desires and become my living puppet since I own you. You will continue to live your life as you did, but you will take my words as a heavenly decree and follow it even if it ends up killing you.”

The guard stared at Davis for a second before letting out a small scoff.

”What nonsense are you saying under that mask?”

However, the moment those words left his mouth, Davisʼs eyes glimmered beneath the crow mask.

Level Three Obscure Intent of Enigmatic Heart Laws, State of Divine Possession descended without restraint.

The guardʼs expression froze.

His pupils violently shrank before becoming dull and unfocused. His Will was completely overpowered without meeting any resistance whatsoever. It was not even a contest.

The difference between their soul prowess was simply too immense, even though they were both at the same stage.

Davisʼs Will swept into the guardʼs soul sea like a heavenly tide crashing upon a tiny drifting boat. Every mental defense the guard possessed crumbled instantly upon contact.

The guardʼs body trembled.

His body didnʼt even have the time to react. There was no sweat that poured down his neck, nor did his breathing turn ragged in an attempt to resist. He didnʼt fall to his knees, nor did it buckle under the invisible pressure against his soul.

It was like an impregnable layer of earth covered him, disallowing him to move.

Davis calmly stepped closer.

The alleyway seemed to darken around him as his soul force silently invaded the guardʼs mind. Memories, thoughts, instincts, emotions, all of it was laid bare before him.

The guard wanted to resist from the deepest depths.

He truly did.

But the moment that thought surfaced within his consciousness, it was crushed beneath the overwhelming power of the State of Divine Possession. His consciousness drowned deeper and deeper until only Davisʼs voice remained within his mind.

[I own you]

”Yes, you own me.” The guard laughed with a silly expression on his face, even looking embarrassed as though he couldnʼt believe he was saying such a thing.

He then stood at attention and tapped his chest once, ”Master. Tell me, what do I need to do? As long as you say the word, Iʼll even dare to attack the Saintʼs convoy today.”

”…”

Davis momentarily took a look at the terrifying power of Enigmatic Heart Laws.

State of Control allowed him to control a personʼs thoughts, movement, and other functions, but at State of Divine Possession, it allowed him to overtake a personʼs Will.

This personʼs Will was firmly corrupted by him just by saying a few words.

This person didnʼt look dull, nor did they look like a puppet. However, they will never be the same again, as Divine Possession wasnʼt something that could be easily undone. He would kill his own baby for him if he so asked.

After heaving a breath, Davis uttered, ”First, never call me Master. Call me Dragon. Second, tell me where the Head Guard of this area is and what heʼs up to. Third, whatʼs the easiest way to get into the City Lordʼs mansion or closer without letting them become aware of my presence?”

”Alright, Master- I mean, Dragon.”

The guard chuckled with an eager expression on his face, ”The Head Guard can be found at the inner city gates during this time to receive Saint Riyal Mendez. As for the easiest way to get into the City Lordʼs mansion, Iʼm not aware of any way other than to talk to the Commander of the city or the Steward of the mansion.”

”Then what do you know about this formation?”

Davis pointed up at the skies and at the Ethereal Lumina Tree.

The guard explained the general information which Davis already knew, so he dismissed him after asking a few more questions and returned to the fattyʼs side.

”Handsome Fatty, the Saint is headed to the north of the city to do his phony work, while he or the people underneath him seemed to have already sent some people to deal with your family at your consortiumʼs headquarters. The guards were told to not interfere, and most of them donʼt know whatʼs happening, but they could guess since youʼre infamous for offending Thousand Windblades now. Should we go back, or have you already evacuated your family?”

”I have them here.”

The handsome fatty raised his hand, revealing his life ring with a bold grin.

However, he looked at Davis with a renewed light, ”Not bad. You really know how to bri- I mean, gift someone. These kinds of things, the guards would never slip even if they were to be killed, since if it is known that they leaked intel of this nature, they could lose their entire family or even get kicked out of the Twelve Bastion Cities for the slightest offense.”
