Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 5080 Heading To The City Lord Manor

Davis considered for a moment, not knowing what to say.

In the end, he just shrugged, ”Leave it to me. I have a plan.”

”Alright, I believe you.” Head Guard Rowen nodded firmly.

Davis nodded twice before thinking to himself that his plan was that he had no plan because he was thinking that Head Guard Rowen should just get screwed over after he was done with him.

If it werenʼt for the fact that he needed to get to the City Lord Manor silently and start siphoning heaven and earth energy in great amounts, then he wouldnʼt be going around corrupting peopleʼs Will. However, this person had already offended them by joining with Saint Riyal Mendez.

At this moment, Davis didnʼt feel the need to be merciful, but he didnʼt feel the need to go out of his way to harm the ones who were just following orders, like the guards who noticed something had happened here.

He felt the chances of them meeting with Celestial Transcendent or others and explaining that their Head Guard fought a ʼsoul battleʼ with someone were very low. Unless some officer was personally investigating the guards in the twelve cities and noticed the dimming of the armor Head Guard Rowen equipped, Davis felt that he would already be out of the cities by the time they found out, since it was nearly impossible to go through every freaking guard who was already involved in bribery and corruption because it would meet a firm backlash, so there was no need to silence them.

Besides, someone was watching him. Even if not for them, he wanted to be as less wicked as possible.

He had revealed his Karmic Impersonation ability to some of his women, and although they may not say it, he knew they felt scared by it.

Anyone would feel scared by it. If Davis found another person with this ability, he might go out of his way to eliminate them. Even now, he kept Kronos Alistair monitored even if he knew that he wouldnʼt dare to do anything.

No one would like for their privacy to be explored, so Davis was already a figure that everyone needed to carefully tread around because of Enigmatic Heart Laws, and now that they learned he could just take over them and be them, one could only wonder if he was even human.

They finally understood why he would be called a Desolate Divergent and needed to be firmly sealed before he could grow.

However, he could also sense their feelings of trust that he wouldnʼt misuse it, so he didnʼt want to betray it.

Davis then continued to ask Head Guard Rowen many questions.

The situation in the city, the blueprint of the defensive formations in his command, and the way to get into the City Lordʼs Manor.

He also asked a few questions about the blueprints of the energy accumulating and distribution formations cast around the city, but he was told only the City Lord and the people who worked on maintaining these formations knew about it.

For a big city that was just built almost two months ago after the arrival of the desolate era, he felt that it was quite good and let him know the extraordinary influence and ability of the Hexadra Clan. They seemed to have a huge part in creating the Twelfth, Third, Sixth, and Ninth Bastion Cities, and the noble families, more or less under their control, helped build the other Bastion Cities.

But with the Twelve Cities constructed in a circle around the Ethereal Lumina Tree and perfectly absorbing the heaven and earth energy that was bound to be naturally released to the entire realm into this single region, they made the perfect sanctuary land in the Desolate Era.

However, Davis didnʼt think the Hexadra Clan came up with this giant formation.

He supposed every realm had its own instructions about this, but even as those who ruled the Lower Realms for a decade, they received no instructions from the Greater Realm. He supposed these blueprints were given only to the official rulers of the realms, unlike those who had conquered it.

”Letʼs go.”

After making sure that the coast was clear to the way to the City Lord Manor, Davis had the Head Guard take him there.

He was still masked, his aura concealed with anotherʼs.

After coming out of the guard headquarters, they boarded a flying palace and quickly flew to the City Lord Manor.

The flying palace with the head of a three-headed hydra flew through the skies like a dark comet.

Its metallic hull reflected the glow of the Ethereal Lumina Tree in the distance, the enormous tree rising beyond the layered bastion walls like a pillar connecting heaven and earth. Vast streams of heaven and earth energy spiraled around its trunk in visible currents, turning the skies above the Eighth Bastion City into a sea of shimmering colors.

Davis stood beside the window while Head Guard Rowen respectfully remained half a step behind him.

After Davis used the State of Divine Possession a second time on the Head Guard to tell him to secretly be loyal to him, no matter the cost, the chances of betrayal had gone down significantly. Hence, it could be said that the Head Guard was now firmly his living puppet with a consciousness that would act like any normal human being until Davis was in danger.

Davis had expected a backlash for his Will to be layered on anotherʼs a second time, but it didnʼt seem like the case, as it seems like he could endlessly corrupt someoneʼs Will as long as it succeeded once.

His brows furrowed as he wasnʼt exactly sure where this power was leading him.

Nonetheless, looking down, he saw the city remain tense.

Patrol squads moved in groups, and formation lights flickered across the streets.

Large barrier nodes stationed atop towers emitted faint humming noises as they synchronized with one another. The lockdown clearly wasnʼt for show. After the attack on the City Lord by the Heavenly Blight Hall in the Twelfth Bastion City, the entire Eighth Bastion City had become an iron fortress.

Still, Davis remained calm.

With Head Guard Rowen by his side, he was bound to get a free pass into the City Lord Manor.

Soon, the flying palace descended outside the manor.

The area was wide like a plaza with countless guards standing in rows. In front of them, a black-haired, sharp-eyed, golden-armored man stood with his spear. He glanced at them descending, and as they came out, he cupped his hand and roared.

”The City Lord is busy and is under the protection of my Special City Guard forces and the City Lord Manorʼs forces. Please state your intentions for your unannounced appearance.”

As he spoke, he unleashed his aura, seemingly at Level Eight Primarch Stage, the same as the City Lordʼs Level Eight Exalt Stage cultivation. However, his aura didnʼt seem as dense as Head Guard Rowenʼs.

Normally, the City Commander would be more powerful than the Head Guard. However, the positions in the Bastion Cities were highly contested, with noble families and other powers competing to secure key roles. Compared to the City Commanderʼs position, the Head Guardʼs position was easier to obtain, and in emergencies, they wouldnʼt need to defend the city and would be less likely to encounter danger.

They could defend the cityʼs order rather than going out and risking their lives.

Thatʼs why someone more powerful, like Head Guard Rowen, who had influence because he was the adopted son of a noble family, could occupy it.

”Move, I have an urgent report to make to the City Lord.”

Head Guard Rowen harrumphed and said while looking annoyed. As far as he was concerned, the City Commanderʼs status was lower than his. If it werenʼt for appearancesʼ sake, the Hexadra Clan and the other noble families wouldnʼt have allowed such a person with a subpar background to get into the position of the City Commander.

”Iʼm afraid I canʼt move.”

However, the City Commander coldly spoke, also looking down on the Head Guard.

”…”

Davis blinked. He wasnʼt here to see their rivalry or power politics. Why couldnʼt they just let him enter and deal with the City Lord?

”Who is this?” The City Commander noticed Davis and his suspicious crow mask and asked.
