Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 5059 Drakeʼs Children

Drake flew with his children hand-in-hand.

Despite their initial outrage, they seemed to have calmed down and flew in the skies, embarrassedly for a few minutes before getting adjusted to it. Their father had always been like this, always responding to their aggression with an amused smile, and they got used to taking advantage of it.

Even now, he would look over at them with a faint smile if he were to catch their glances.

They didnʼt like it. Why wasnʼt he putting them in their places?

They wanted their father to be a hero like the Divine Emperor of Death, too. But they had never seen him do anything worthwhile other than hearing that he had once saved the Davis Family from encountering great danger by ascending to save the Divine Emperor of Death.

Even for his own family, he didnʼt use the name Drake but used Blackburn instead, as though he was ashamed of his own name.

When they faced other kids, it became a sore point, some even having insulted them that their father was riding on the coattails of the Divine Emperor of Death. When they asked their father in rage once, he didnʼt deny it either. When they asked their mothers, they simply laughed at them and even supported their father every time without giving a sound explanation other than saying they were best friends, infuriating them.

Does being best friends give someone the right to laze around and get drunk all day long? Does having worshipers mean that he could laze around and have his followers do everything for him?

They hated this part of him and hoped he would turn for the better, but he still went to banter with his friends and got drunk.

They were fully incensed but couldnʼt lash-out because he was still their father who doted on them.

Xinyi Blackburn held his hand more firmly, thinking she would have to take care of her father more in the future.

Suppressing the irritation in his heart, Aris Blackburn asked, ”Father, elder brother Felix, Tianyu, and many others are going to the Auros Familyʼs Throne Selection Tournament. Can I go with them as well?”

”Hmm?” Drake narrowed his eyes before raising his brows, ”Oh, you mean that fallen imperial family of the continent outside. Uhm, I think it would be a bit dangerous since there would definitely be a rebellion in case the favored candidate among the Auros Family doesnʼt get selected, but I guess itʼs also good to go see the world. Alright, you can go.”

”Yay!~”

”Then Iʼm going too.” Xinyi Blackburn joined in, ”Canʼt miss having fun with elder sister Xiesha and Yulia. I bet elder sister Aurelia and Sheria will also be sent by their parents since theyʼre always cooped up and doing alchemical experiments.”

”Alright, alright.”

Drake caressed and patted the heads of his children with affection, ”In case the tournament turns into one of Davis Familyʼs children hijacking it with their antics, then feel free to compete with them.”

”Really?”

Both their eyes gleamed.

”Of course.” Drake nodded, and he saw their burning passion to defeat them.

He couldnʼt help but inwardly smile, knowing that they would be beaten black and blue by those monsters. Naturally, his children knew of it too, but they didnʼt look disheartened or disinterested just because they knew the outcome of the battles. They had passionate looks because they knew they could nurture their skills greatly by fighting the supreme geniuses from the Davis Family.

Xinyi felt a bit better and looked at her father with care, ”Father, you should also stop drinking and reclaim your initial aspirations. You canʼt abandon your hopes just because your friend is stronger, but more than anything, you shouldnʼt tolerate harsh words from your own children. It doesnʼt set a… good example.”

”…” Drake blinked before he chuckled wryly, ”I made you two worry.”

Xinyi Blackburn and Aris Blackburn looked at each other with helpless expressions. When did their father become so tame when they had so many wild things about him?

But on the other hand, Drake wanted to laugh out loud.

The reason why he let his children insult him and get away with it was that if they were also suppressed by him, their hopes could be dashed.

The Davis Familyʼs children shone too brightly for the other kids to get a chance at showing their talents, much less improving their Wills. They get overshadowed before they can even shine. The parents knew this was a problem, but the Davis Familyʼs school was too good at teaching, and their curriculum covered a vast amount of topics and systematic teaching of body, soul, and essence, so the parents had no choice but to still send.

It was still better than most sects or their own familyʼs teaching curriculum.

However, Drake felt otherwise. He didnʼt let his children go to the Davis Familyʼs school and home-schooled them instead using the curriculum from the Davis Family.

However, he didnʼt bar them from interacting with the Davis Family children to allow his children to know the immensity of heaven and earth.

They needed a goal to pursue, a peak to reach, but if they were to constantly stand in front of a peak, unable to overcome it, they would be destined to lower their heads and wallow in sadness that they could never make it to the peak, potentially affecting their Wills in a negative way.

Hence, he let them aggress and insult him as they pleased.

While they beat him up and think they are still worth more than their father, they get disciplined by their mothers. While they hit a wall when dueling with the Davis Family children, they never lowered their heads, willing to improve all day and surpass them. It was his own yin-yang way of nurturing.

Moreover, the reality was that he wasnʼt drunk or lazing around.

His avatar was drunk and putting on a show because he couldnʼt tell his children that he was doing shady things with their mothers all day long. He didnʼt want his children to have a mindset that treats the matters of the flesh like a casual notion.

Back in the Lust Garden Lower Realm, he had seen too many children at the age of nine start their dual cultivation journey. It was insane and, honestly, difficult for him to even fathom or even accept. Hence, he felt it was too early for his children to come into this adult world, not that he had ideas for them to enter, as he had given them a compatible non-dual cultivation method to practice.

”Elder sister, what about the death triad wolves? Why arenʼt they coming?”

”Death triad wolves? Ah, itʼs Lady Nadiaʼs children.” Drake curled his lips, ”They wonʼt be attending it since I guess they are hunting down bandits and playing with even more of a big target that even father canʼt do anything about.”

”Uh? Even father canʼt do anything?”

Xinyi Blackburn and Aris Blackburn looked a bit shocked. Although their father was a bum in their minds, they knew he was strong! Even the other drunkards at that table acknowledged him, and the two of them knew they were all heads of their powers.

”In that case, shouldnʼt father help them…?” Aris Blackburn asked doubtfully.

ʼLittle Aris, what help would I be when thereʼs a terrifying Exalt Spirit following them around and guarding them?ʼ

Drake inwardly chuckled, but he made a frightened expression, ”Uh, your father got lucky once. I wonʼt lay down my life again unless itʼs for Davis, where I get the most benefit and get to eat free food and drinks for another million years.”

He said as he fled.

”Ah, you- old drunkard!”

Xinyi Blackburn and Aris Blackburn chased their cowardly father, not knowing he was playing the wolf in sheepʼs clothing from the moment they were born.
