Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 5084 Karmic Impersonation Mishap?

Davis and City Lord Davis were quite speechless.

They didnʼt intend for this to happen when they used this modified Karmic Impersonation Technique.

So far, Davis has performed four types of Karmic Impersonation Techniques.

The very first one was the identity theft he committed on dead soul essences, masking his identity with theirs. Back when he went to save his friends in the Obsidian Crystal Turtle Minor Realm, he had used the identity of Bandit Emperor Rekan Lockette to infiltrate. He used the same when traveling with Clara for the last time, acting like a servant before she was taken away, while he went to steal the black-white stone from Rokushi Mirai.

He called this the Karmic Impersonation Technique, the base technique for stealing a dead soul essenceʼs identity.

The second technique was the one that allowed him to usurp someoneʼs fate.

This not only required Karma Laws and Judgment Laws but also the scarlet thread from the Scarlet Destiny Spindle.

This allowed him to steal their memory, reliving their past, stealing their present, and guiding their future while still being able to use his own techniques, although this left the consciousness of the victim in a state of death until he undid the technique, where they would quickly die.

He called this technique Karmic Impersonation: Identity Usurpation or Karmic Identity Usurpation for short.

However, he couldnʼt be using the scarlet thread every time, so when his Enigmatic Heart Laws managed to breakthrough to the State of Divine Possession, he didnʼt need the scarlet thread to read someoneʼs past. Instead, he could just possess them and learn of their past, and thereby, had the ability to selectively read memories and possess the victimʼs body, soul, and Will while still managing to be them.

He called this technique State of Divine Possession: Karmic Impersonation or Divine Karmic Impersonation for short.

Then the fourth technique was when he used to usurp the aura from dead soul essences and not their identities. This was the technique he was using as Dragon to mask his aura.

He called this technique Karmic Impersonation - Aura Duplication.

Finally, he created the fifth iteration of the technique, which had long been standing in his mind from the time when he saved Natalya from Heavenʼs Concealment.

He had grasped Twilight Laws because he learned a bit from Fairy Qiyra Darkstar and Mingzhi for a few hours before coming here.

He wanted to add Twilight Laws to Divine Karmic Impersonation and further enhance the concealment and perception interference to even fool the likes of the Celestial Transcendent. After all, his purpose in using Karmic Impersonation was to also continuously improve it so that he wouldnʼt be affected by the risks.

For example, the second technique, Karmic Identity Usurpation, causes his own soul to be corrupted due to forcefully reliving othersʼ pasts. If he couldnʼt endure that, then his own character would change.

Fortunately, he didnʼt have any trouble blocking Awudanʼs past since he felt so disgusted by it and fully rejected it.

Another example was the third technique, Divine Karmic Impersonation. This could cause the new karmic identity gained by impersonating the victim to undergo changes. Although it didnʼt affect his main body, it might eventually create a new identity, one that mixed the predator and prey as long as enough time passed. This was similar to the case of an avatar going rogue.

Hence, he wanted to improve these techniques to get rid of these disadvantages, but he wasnʼt greedy.

First, he only wanted to improve the concealment and perception interference of these techniques.

However, what happened in reality was different.

Not only did he manage to usurp the City Lordʼs fate, but he accidentally caused their identities to switch as well.

It was insane if he thought about it.

Twilight Laws were supposed to help in increasing the effect of the impersonation. This was the foremost reason he tried using this technique instead of using the third technique, but it instead caused him to switch between identities.

The two Davises could only hope that this was reversible, like the other Karmic Impersonation Techniques.

”Do you think we could switch identities actively?” City Lord Davis asked. This was the original Davis.

”Maybe we could try…” Dragon said and pursed his lips. He looked at himself and thought the fourth and fifth techniques could amazingly stack since he retained the fake aura.

The two of them stared at each other as though looking deep into their souls for ten seconds straight.

”Ah, this isnʼt working…” City Lord Davis waved his hand.

Dragon clenched his teeth, ”Dammit, this technique isnʼt as flexible as I thought, like switching from real to illusory anytime we wanted. We could research it later. In any case, if we reverse the technique, the one in the actual City Lordʼs body, me, you would die along with the City Lord-ugh, his name is Kain Waterland, titled Deepstream Ocean Empyrean, known as Deepstream Ocean Exalt among the upper echelons-”

”I know, I know. You donʼt have to tell me what I already know.”

City Lord Davis waved his hand, feeling amused since he knew this the moment his Will overpowered and usurped City Lord Kainʼs fate.

He sneered, ”So the reason this guy was brooding was that he gave his word to offer his wife to the Saint in exchange for being blessed by his technique to create a progeny. What a fucking impotent cuck. Awudan was also like this. Do the people I impersonate all have to be like this?”

”Hey, Gʼharen Bloodrain was clearly different. He had wives and mistresses he loved. Besides, the Saint made it clear that he would only make a move on City Lord Kainʼs fourth wife if she showed vulnerability in their relationship. That motherfucker is still trying to fulfill his kinks even against a Peak Exalt. I have to give it to him for his boldness.” Dragon laughed.

The City Lord had a total of eight wives and sixteen mistresses. However, he had no children.

This naturally created problems of faithfulness between him and his women.

However, he was a fierce general and had loyal people like the Steward and many subordinates by his side who were in the City Lord Manorʼs forces. Most of his wives also support him. Hence, he was greatly respected until his reputation slowly receded because of his impotency, which naturally caused him to be angry all the time.

However, recently, the fourth wife was suspected of having an emotional affair with the Steward after he was clearly humiliated by the Hexadra Clan when they handed over the City Lordʼs position to him. This strained their relationship even further. Hence, this was an unexpected situation he never expected to find himself in.

Now the two Davises understood why the handsome fatty said the City Lord was miserable.

He felt he would be miserable too if he didnʼt have the capability to sire children.

”Well,” City Lord Davis sighed, ”Forget about the City Lord. Even if we remain like this, itʼs not a problem since we can use karmic threads to attach to our people and let them realize our true identities.”

”True.”

Dragon nodded before he smirked.

”Now then, do we steal the Divine Techniques from the Saint or continue with our plan to steal heaven and earth energy?”

He brought out the formation core from his spatial ring, which was the City Lordʼs spatial ring. It looked like an imperial seal.

”With this in our hands, we can siphon the energy we want from the underground roots without getting noticed.”

”Indeed, but why shouldnʼt we do both?”

”You serious?” Dragon raised his brows, ”Since the Celestial Transcendent is possibly following the Saint around, even if the former isnʼt there because of the disturbance created by the Heavenly Blight Hall, the latter must surely have treasures that defend against Will attacks because they know we have Enigmatic Heart Laws to use.”

”Indeed.” City Lord Davis grinned lightly, ”But we donʼt have to deal with him ourselves. Let the City Lordʼs fourth wife deal with him.”

”Donʼt be evil.” Dragon reminded, ”Weʼll let her do this if she truly did cheat. If not, weʼll deal with this ourselves somehow.”

City Lord Davis nodded, ”Alright, limit the damage caused by impersonation, not that it means anything since we just created a lot of widows yet again.”

”It amounts to something…!” Dragon roared softly, ”And this and that are different. Clearly, this miserable City Lord is now a tyrant, even kidnapping people and having fun with them, either killing or ravishing. He even bought the kidnapped Hayden Familyʼs Young Mistress, whom we heard of in the inns when we were with handsome fatty. Do you think he deserves any sympathy?”

”He doesnʼt, but his people do.” City Lord Davis sighed, ”In any case, letʼs bring Epsila and Divinacia here.”

”Let them come in the morning after the Saint leaves. We donʼt want any problems until then.”

”It wouldnʼt be a problem. The underground is restricted only to select personnel. We canʼt be wasting precious time created by Leader Arnoxin and the others.”

Dragon thought for a moment before he nodded, ”Youʼre right. Letʼs bring them now. Call the Head Guard.”

If anyone saw this scene, it would appear comical. The two Davises talking was basically just his thoughts talking to each other, but was personified in reality.
