I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 617, Nature’s Masterful Craftsmanship

The sky had already begun to slowly brighten, and the Sun had completely climbed into Heaven.

Now, looking around, everywhere appeared particularly bright, a stark contrast to the pitch-black appearance of the eternal night. They were simply two completely different states.

Moreover, the sunlight now looked quite comfortable, casting a warm feeling upon one’s body.

Su Bai was standing before the floor-to-ceiling windows, looking at the weather outside, nodding with satisfaction as he said. “Yeah, this kind of weather is still what people prefer.”

Although the eternal night lasted only a brief three days, not seeing sunlight for those three days could also be considered a form of torment.

Sometimes even passing a single dark night feels particularly long, let alone living through three days of nighttime existence.

Furthermore, those three days were filled with constant invasions by Ferocious Beast, which made the people feel unnerved.

Yu Ying stretched out her hand to feel the sensation of the Sun’s rays, saying lazily. “Shaman, we can finally wash clothes.”

Indeed, what Yu Ying had been thinking about emotionally was wanting the Sun to arrive, so that those accumulated clothes and some fabric could be properly washed.

Having grown accustomed to washing clothes once every day, Yu Ying felt rather uncomfortable after three days had passed without washing any clothes.

“Haha… Take the bedding outside to air-dry as well, this way we can also properly eliminate bacteria through Sun exposure,” Su Bai instructed.

“Air-dry bedding? Shaman, the bedding isn’t even dirty. Why do we need to take it outside to air?” Yu Ying tilted her head and asked innocently.

Yu Ying did not understand. To her, shouldn’t bedding just remain in the room? Why would it need to be taken outside to air?

“Have you never had the habit of airing bedding before?” Su Bai raised an eyebrow and asked.

“No. We’ve never done this,” Yu Ying shook her head in bewilderment.

“Since you don’t have this habit, then you should start now. There are thousands upon thousands of bacteria on our beddings, and if we don’t take it out to sun-dry, those bacteria just continue to fester on the bedding.” Su Bai explained simply.

Airing bedding can serve a sterilising function, reducing mites on the bedding. More importantly, airing bedding would keep the bedding dry and reduce harmful substances on the bedding.

If there are too many mites on the bedding, it could easily trigger skin diseases, or it can easily cause infection with other ailments.

“Is the Shaman talking about those little insects in the water?” Yu Ying still remembered the previous incident about water needing to be boiled before drinking.

“More or less, but those little insects live in water, while the little insects on bedding attach themselves to the bedding.” Su Bai explained.

This was also why back on Earth there were so many people who, when the sun was particularly fierce, would take bedding or pillows outside to air.

Everyone wanted to kill the mites on their bedding through sun exposure, and moreover, aired bedding has a unique smell that feels particularly comfortable when used to cover oneself at night.

“I understand, I’ll take all the bedding outside to air in a moment.” Yu Ying said immediately.

“By the way, just take the stuffing inside out to air, and take the outer bed sheets out to wash,” Su Bai added.

During the three days of the eternal night, he always felt that the bedding was particularly damp and very uncomfortable to sleep under.

Every day, sleeping on it, he always felt his body was damp. It was truly unpleasant.

“Understood.” Yu Ying nodded.

“Moreover, the weather has already begun to slowly warm up, so we can also take the cloaks out to air, then put them away until next year.” Su Bai instructed.

The cloaks were all made from fine Beast Bone and Beast Fur, so they needed to be properly cared for when not in use.

“I know, spring has arrived, and I’ll put away many things that won’t be needed.” Yu Ying said immediately.

Yu Ying enjoyed this kind of busy feeling. Having things to do was the best, and moreover, all these tasks were related to the Shaman.

“By the way, bring out the juices that were squeezed before, let’s see if they can be used for dyeing now.” Su Bai instructed.

Seeing this fine weather, he had also thought of the dyes.

Currently, the clothes everyone in the Tribe wore were too monotonous, all just the same colour of linen.

Looking around, everything was brown-yellow, which could hardly be called vibrant.

Since spring has arrived, everyone should change into colourful clothes. This way, they would look more vibrant.

Moreover, this was undoubtedly also a good method for promoting the Flame Dragon Tribe. When other Tribes saw that the Flame Dragon Tribe all wore varied brightly coloured clothes, they would inevitably be moved.

Most importantly, when they went out, word would spread from one to ten, and ten to a hundred. This way, everyone would know that the Flame Dragon Tribe had brightly coloured clothes, and then everyone would come to the Flame Dragon Tribe.

“Oh right, those things have been stored for so long, they must be ready by now,” Yu Ying had almost forgotten about this matter.

*Step step step…*

She ran to the corner herself and had the maids help her carry them, as there were quite a few jars in total.

“Shaman, everything is here. What should we do?” Yu Ying asked curiously.

She was somewhat afraid to open those jars, worried there might be a very strong smell.

“After opening them, pour them into wooden basins, then bring some clean linen over – put one piece in each type of juice,” Su Bai arranged.

He wanted to see which of these juices had the best dyeing effect, and which had the highest colour retention.

Moreover, most importantly, whether they would fade easily after dyeing – those that did not fade easily after dyeing and also looked good would be the best.

“Yes,” Yu Ying nodded, then turned to have the maids fetch linen.

Now that there were maids in the Yong’an Building, doing many things was far more convenient. She did not need to run about everywhere herself.

*Step step step…*

The maids brought several pieces of linen, then following instructions, placed one piece in each wooden basin.

Moreover, they ensured that the linen was completely submerged in the juice, to get better results.

“Shaman, how long should we leave them like this?” Yu Ying was already somewhat impatient to see the results. When she heard that these things could make fabric colourful, she immediately became excited.

She had seen what the Shaman’s pyjamas were like. They were particularly beautiful, with rare colours on them.

“Leave them for two or three hours, then take them outside to dry under the sun. Repeat this process several times. That’s how it’s done.” Su Bai explained.

Using wild fruit juice for dyeing was not a simple matter. This was nature’s masterful craftsmanship. Although the operation was simple, it would take quite some time for the colour to really stay on.

“Understood, during this time I’ll go wash the bedding and clothes first,” Yu Ying said expectantly.
