I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 604, Precise Calculations

Yan Hua did not want her teammates to fall into a mindset of self-pity and blame, especially when this was a perfectly normal occurrence.

“Understood, I’ll adjust my mindset properly.” Ge immediately straightened his posture.

“Everyone, we still can’t relax. There’s another Ferocious Beast advancing towards the Tribe.” Yan Hua reminded them.

However, that Tortoise-like Ferocious Beast was advancing very slowly. The Tiger-like Ferocious Beast from before had been moving at three times the speed of this creature.

One could imagine just how slow this Tortoise-like Ferocious Beast was progressing. Even after the Tiger-like Ferocious Beast had been killed, it was still slowly plodding forward.

“But we might not be needed for this one.” Sha Lan said, watching that Ferocious Beast.

“Eh? Why is that? That Ferocious Beast’s size is about the same as the one we just killed, so the recurve bow definitely won’t work on it either.” Qing Mu asked in confusion.

“I think so too. Since the recurve bow is useless, we can only rely on firearms.” Chi Tu nodded in agreement.

“No, what Ah’Lan said makes sense. We might not be needed this time.” Yan Hua immediately understood what Sha Lan meant.

“Can you see? That Ferocious Beast has a massive shell, and that shell must be extremely tough. It is something we can easily penetrate. Better to leave it to the explosive package squad.” Sha Lan analysed, immediately recognising where that Ferocious Beast’s advantage lay upon seeing it.

Although the Tiger-like Ferocious Beast’s advantage had been its speed and the defensive spikes covering its body, it was still mostly flesh and blood. It was unlike this Tortoise-like Ferocious Beast, whose body was largely protected by that thick, heavy Tortoise shell. Using firearms would be too wasteful of bullets.

Moreover, that Tortoise-like Ferocious Beast was clearly much larger than the Tiger-like Ferocious Beast, making it easier to hit with explosive packages.

“That’s true. We really weren’t observing carefully enough.” Ah Zhen suddenly had an epiphany. He had not realized there was such depth to this. No wonder the Shaman had chosen Sha Lan as the Shaman Priestess.

This was something he simply could not compare to. The number of things Sha Lan could help the Shaman with was far too many to count.

“Let’s watch first and see if the explosive packages work on this Ferocious Beast. If they don’t work, then it’ll have to rely on us in the end.” Yan Hua said seriously.

Hearing this, Ah Zhen became confused again and asked. “Didn’t we just say they wouldn’t need us?”

He was getting a bit muddled. One moment the firearm squad would not be needed, the next moment they said it would be needed.

“Its shell is so hard. So, we don’t know if the explosive packages can injure it. If there’s no other way, we can only rely on our firearms to aim at its head.” Yan Hua pointed at that Tortoise-like Ferocious Beast and continued. “Its head doesn’t have a hard shell protecting it, so we can aim for that head.”

“But we’d need to use quite a few bullets, because with such a large build, one bullet definitely won’t be enough to kill it, which is why we’re the last resort.” Sha Lan supplemented.

The two girls’ thinking was quite similar, instantly analysing this Ferocious Beast’s strengths and weak points.

“We understand.” Ah Zhen and the others nodded.

*Step step step…*

A series of urgent footsteps rang out as Mai Mao, Shou Ya and others began bustling about one after another.

They were primarily responsible as the explosive package squad, constantly observing the Ferocious Beast’s movements. The moment the Ferocious Beast entered the explosive package range, they had to immediately ignite the explosive packages.

The explosive packages were buried in the ground beforehand, with long fuses extending all the way to outside the Tribe gates. After ignition, flames would need time to reach the explosive packages.

So, they had to control the timing precisely, otherwise by the time the flames arrived, that Ferocious Beast would have already passed through the explosive package zone.

For this, they had drilled countless times, wasting numerous explosive packages to ensure their current level of precision.

“Since that Ferocious Beast has been left to us to handle, we absolutely cannot let the others down. The firearm squad has already dealt with one.” Qing Yan said seriously.

He was primarily responsible for the explosive package squad, and because of the squad’s importance, he had spent considerable time on it.

“Understood, we absolutely won’t let the others down.” Mai Mao and the others immediately responded.

One person stood atop the sentry post while the others waited outside the Tribe gates.

They had to wait for the optimal position before igniting those fuses, and also calculate based on this Ferocious Beast’s advancing speed.

There was no specific calculation method. It was purely based on experimentation and intuition to make the decision, so everyone was extremely careful.

Mai Mao stood atop the sentry post, constantly watching the distance. Once that Ferocious Beast entered the zone, he began shouting loudly. “Target has entered the designated area!”

“Understood.” The people outside the Tribe gates responded in unison.

*Sizzle sizzle sizzle…*

After receiving the instruction, they lit the fuses one by one. The sizzling sound of flames continuously rang out.

Since these fuses had been soaked in Kerosene Fruit Juice beforehand, they had an extremely high burning point. Just a small flame was enough for them to rapidly start racing forward.

Those flames rushed towards the distance like ground squirrels, with fuses of varying lengths causing the flames to travel near and far distances.

*Boom boom boom…* As the flames reached their destinations, thunderous explosions erupted one after another, instantly filling the air with smoke.

These explosive packages had all been improved upon. They were the crystallization of Co Co’s long research, which was why their explosive power was so tremendous.

Wave after wave of explosions rang out, the smoke rising like mushrooms around that Ferocious Beast, instantly obscuring everyone’s vision so completely that no one could see what was happening.
