I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 607, This is Awful

Yan Hua and the others had finished resting in Yong’an Building and left, preparing to return to their posts to stand guard.

Being able to rest for an hour in the Yong’an Building was already quite good, much better than standing outside the whole time.

Moreover, outside was pitch black everywhere, and that feeling was nowhere near as pleasant as being in a brightly lit place.

*Step step step*

“Ah’Hua, what sort of Ferocious Beasts do you think we’ll encounter next?” Sha Lan was both curious and somewhat afraid. Curious about what types of Ferocious Beasts they would encounter, afraid they would meet a Ferocious Beast they could not handle.

“I don’t know. I hope we don’t encounter those strange Ferocious Beasts again. Not only do they look strange, we can’t even figure out their names.” Yan Hua had a disgusted expression.

Yan Hua did not want everyone to fall into that state again, completely unaware of what sort of Ferocious Beast the opponent was, or what kind of power they might unleash.

This feeling was truly suffocating. It was as if the opponent completely understood them, knew to attack the Tribe to find some food to eat, while they did not even know what the opponent was.

“I hope the Ferocious Beasts that appear next are ones that have appeared before. That way, they would be easier to deal with.” Sha Lan muttered.

Sha Lan thought of the Ferocious Beasts that had appeared before, which could all be dealt with using recurve bows. Even if some were a bit more ferocious, they could easily be dealt with using firearms.

Those Ferocious Beasts would not require using explosive packages, so Sha Lan hoped that the ones appearing would be the normal Ferocious Beasts.

“We’ll know in a moment. We’ve been resting at the Yong’an Building for so long but there still isn’t any Ferocious Beast. This is different from before.” Yan Hua suddenly felt something was odd.

Previously, during eternal nights, the frequency of Ferocious Beast appearances was very high. Yet, tonight, apart from the two that had just appeared, there hadn’t been any Ferocious Beasts sighting until now.

“That’s true. We haven’t heard any alarms until now, this year is really too strange.” Sha Lan also felt it was very bizarre.

Clearly, at this time, the Tribe should be busy beyond belief. So why was this year so quiet? Also, why were the Ferocious Beasts that appeared so different too?

“Don’t tell me those two from before were just scouting ahead, and there’s still a large wave behind them?” Yan Hua speculated.

Yan Hua thought this way was not without reason, because some wild beasts indeed acted like this.

They would first send a few ahead to scout, first seeing what the situation ahead was before deciding whether to continue advancing.

“This isn’t impossible. If a ton of them really appear all at once, that would be terrible.” Sha Lan frowned.

Sha Lan did not dare imagine this scene. Just thinking about it made her whole body feel cold. Occasionally, having a few appear was still manageable, but if too many appeared at once, it would be too troublesome to deal with.

*Woo woo woo woo…*

*Dong dong dong…*

Just as everyone was chatting, waves of horn sounds and drum sounds rang out again, clearly Ferocious Beasts had appeared again.

This time, the frequency of the warning sounds represented four Ferocious Beasts, one very large, the other three very small.

“Ferocious Beasts have appeared, just as we mentioned them, they actually came out.” Yan Hua’s expression changed to become excited. After all, there was only one large one this time, with the rest being normal in size.

“Let’s go quickly. We need to hurry up to the sentry post to see what type of Ferocious Beasts they are.” Sha Lan took the lead and started running.

*Step step step…*

The two kept charging up towards the sentry post, arriving in no time, standing at the sentry post using their telescopes to look into the distance.

“I recognise those three smaller ones, but I don’t recognise that large one.” Yan Hua frowned.

She immediately became confused, how was it that unknown Ferocious Beasts were appearing again?

“Right. What is that large Ferocious Beast?” Sha Lan also did not recognise that enormous Ferocious Beast.

“Why is it the same as the previous two? It looks so ugly.” Yan Hua lowered her brow.

The largest Ferocious Beast was also extremely large in size, about five to six metres wide, around ten metres tall. Its overall form was a complete mess.

It looked like a Giant Jackal, but the difference was that all four limbs had no fur, replaced entirely by scales, very much like Pangolin claws. Its tail was even stranger, as if it had grown a Crocodile’s tail. There was also a single horn that had grown in the middle of its head. In short, it was another Chimera Ferocious Beast.

“Why are these sorts of things appearing?” Sha Lan immediately felt uneasy.

Because this giant unknown Ferocious Beast looked extremely formidable, from its size and sharp fangs, one could tell this Ferocious Beast had great destructive power.

“Never mind that. We need to prepare. If recurve bows don’t work, we’ll have to rely on firearms.” Yan Hua immediately took down her gun.

She knew they had to immediately make preparations for these Ferocious Beasts.

“Of course.” Sha Lan also set up her firearm.

*Stomp stomp stomp…*

*Hiss hiss hiss…*

The four Ferocious Beasts continuously approached the main gate of the Flame Dragon Tribe, their mouths emitting hoarse hissing sounds, which very much sounded like heavy panting at the same time.

The Chimera, which looked like a Jackal, constantly had sticky fluid flowing from its mouth while it continuously bared its teeth where even its black gums could be seen.

Its appearance looked as if someone owed it several million, in any case it looked like it was not something that should be provoked.

“Why are more Chimera Ferocious Beasts appearing?” Yan Jiao’s expression was very solemn, continuing. “What’s wrong with this year’s Ferocious Beasts?”

“Chieftain, let’s not worry about it for now, let’s kill the other three smaller ones first, that way the remaining one will be easier to deal with.” Cang Shi reminded.

Because he saw the Chieftain had been staring at the Chimera Ferocious Beast as if he was in a daze, if Cang Shi did not remind him, no one would issue the needed commands.

“Have the recurve bow squad prepare. We can’t let them advance one step closer!” Yan Jiao commanded.

Recurve bows, like firearms, could not cover extremely long ranges. They had to wait for the Ferocious Beasts to approach close enough before firing, this way, it ensured their accuracy. Moreover, the lethality would be higher.

If recurve bows prove to be ineffective, that would mean the Ferocious Beasts had managed to advance very close to the Tribe. At this time, if other squads did not keep up with the attacks, then the Ferocious Beasts would most likely break through their defence line.

This was precisely why the firearm teams and poison archer squads were constantly making preparations, because they had to immediately take over the next round of attacks once a Ferocious Beast got too close.

“Yes.” Cang Shi immediately had the people beside him make the necessary preparations.

He also knew that unknown Chimera Ferocious Beast looked like it might be very fast. Although it was large, one could also see that it was built to be agile.

“This is awful.” Yan Jiao could not work it out no matter how he thought about it.
