Arceus's Pirate Journey

Chapter 728: Chapter 727: Kaidou Lays the Foundation for the Navy Air Squadron’s Development

In the MADS Research Team, aside from Vegapunk, Caesar Clown was the most interested in Devil Fruits, constantly dedicated to their study. Yet, to this day, he has not been able to fully replicate a complete Devil Fruit.

All of those experimental results were failures. The term ”Devil Fruit vitalization” appeared in his mind—something he had imagined but merely imagined.

This experiment had no clues and couldn’t proceed at all.

At the time, Queen was researching viruses, although he also studied Bloodline Factor technology. However, Caesar was confident that in the research of Devil Fruits, no one could surpass him except Vegapunk, and certainly not Queen.

”Doctor Caesar, please calm down. These results were obtained after careful analysis...”

”Have those guys commit seppuku!! You fools have no idea how great this technology is. That useless fat pig could never achieve this, it must be your intelligence officers who have lost their minds!”

Being a part of MADS, Queen certainly had the skills, but this wasn’t Queen’s expertise. Caesar could understand if he created a virus that even he couldn’t comprehend, but this Devil Fruit...

”This is our reasonable speculation, although not confirmed, it has over a 90% likelihood.”

Watching the person in front of him insist on his view, Caesar’s body twisted, almost turning into gas.

MADS members were quite formidable, though not top-tier, they could handle most enemies. Vegapunk’s mechanical replicas, Judge’s equipment, Queen’s Zoan-type physique, while Caesar Clown wielded the powerful Logia-type Fruit.

The Logia Gas-Gas Fruit made Caesar Clown, though not a formidable combatant by frontal strength, well-versed in how to utilize it.

At least compared to Smoker, who was also a Logia type, he surpassed him significantly. In Smoker’s hands, the Smoke-Smoke Fruit primarily allowed bullying the small fry in the first half, with its biggest function being to expand the area of impact.

Arrogant and conceited, he listened to those words, even tempted to withdraw the air from around them, letting them experience suffocation. But when the nearby lab personnel looked his way, he calmed down again.

”Oh dear, why are you so stubborn? Fine, leave the intelligence, and go do whatever you’re supposed to do. Be careful not to trigger any traps and die, alright?”

Caesar cursed the two of them, sincerely and gently. Though his character was nasty, he maintained a warm-hearted persona in front of his subordinates, deceiving their trust to pave the way for some special deeds in the future.

On the other side, Vegapunk remained relatively calm, although he didn’t believe Queen could achieve such a breakthrough, yet he absorbed new experiences from the research.

”To bring the Devil Fruit to life... bring to life...”

The World Government demanded many things from him, a significant portion from the Hundred Beasts, which Vegapunk always felt to be related to Devil Fruit technology.

After analyzing and summarizing data, the powers used by the Hundred Beasts’ members or special creatures were mostly lightning, fire, rock, plants, special barriers, laser beams, etc.

In Vegapunk’s understanding, these should be the powers of the Bloodline Factor. Otherwise, unless it were a miracle, such powers couldn’t appear on such a large scale.

Fire and lightning potentially came from Kaidou, while rock was from their newly discovered Mythical Zoan Fruit, specifically King’s fruit. Those with mechanical structures firing Hyper Beams, like Tyranitar’s shell, appeared unlike normal creatures, which could be understood as pure technological power.

Regarding special barriers, as needed by Vegapunk, the Navy and World Government supplied a wealth of data, very similar to the Barrier-Barrier Fruit.

Vegapunk thought someone extracted the Bloodline Factor from several original abilities and distributed it to others, achieving such powers.

Though difficult, it was not impossible, as he had certain achievements in this regard as well.

Now observing the newly analyzed results, he had new ideas for a previous experiment: how to let an inanimate object consume a Devil Fruit, which was his topic.

Now seeing it from another angle, as inanimate objects cannot eat, perhaps if the Zoan-type Fruit, inherently possessing will, could come to life and consume the weapon, it might work?

The blood analysis of the Eight-Headed Dragon convinced him of the feasibility, and he had already mentally sorted a complete experiment procedure.

”Queen... did I misjudge him?”

”Doctor, don’t mind this for now. How’s that matter going? Marshal Sengoku is urging quite fiercely.”

Beside Vegapunk’s main body, Borsalino boredly clipped his nails. Unlike some World Government agents, Borsalino got along decently with Vegapunk, quite amicably.

In Vegapunk’s view, Borsalino was a communicable Navy soldier, unlike the extreme folks in the World Government.

Though slightly older, he, like Kuzan, using the codename Kizaru, became part of the Three Great Admirals. Such personalities influenced Vegapunk’s attitude.

”It needs some more time, but it’s close. This blood component might accelerate the progress.”

”You see, Marshal Sengoku wants you to cultivate somewhat similar creatures quickly, at least those capable of long-duration flight, not just those little dragons that can only manage short distances.”

As the primary world component is The Sea, only the Navy developed. To this date, they haven’t considered evolving an air force since flying enemies are too scarce.

Still, they’re not inactive. Should there be mounts that can fly and breathe fire, Naval operations against the Eight-Headed Dragon wouldn’t be as arduous for the Navy.

Moreover, according to Vegapunk’s lab records, he once created similar flying creatures.

Catching up to the Eight-Headed Dragon would be ideal. Even if not matching up, a fast, human-carrying, fire-breathing mount is required, fulfilling Sengoku’s need for every fleet and ship to have such unique creatures.

One could say that Kaidou single-handedly altered the Navy’s structure of nearly a century, prompting them to add an entirely new unit. This was something the Golden Lion had never achieved.

Since the Golden Lion had peculiar Fruit usage, the Navy didn’t pay much heed, nor did they undertake special countermeasures.

This marked a historical moment for the Navy, and Kaidou became the ”big contributor” in this Naval reform. Indeed, it was because of him that the Navy urgently sought such changes.
