Arceus's Pirate Journey

Chapter 723: Chapter 722: Hunter and Prey, Roles Reversed

Garp knew very well what Kaidou meant by the limited time, Kaidou saw his battle as a game and intended to leave directly before Headquarter’s support arrived.

But Garp did not want Kaidou to have his way, as Kaidou’s behavior was somewhat insane and impossible to predict what he was really after. As Kaidou said, time was limited, and they could not determine a winner in a short time.

However, Garp did not want Kaidou to leave just like that, such terrifying battles could not be ignored by the Headquarter.

Once the Headquarter’s support arrived, it would be possible to quickly deal with Kaidou. Now, as long as Kaidou couldn’t leave, they would have enough capability to keep him there.

No matter what the World Government’s policy was, Garp was determined to send Kaidou to the Impel Down.

”If you can stop me, then go ahead and try!”

Facing the approaching shadow of a fist, Kaidou raised his club to fight again, on the muddy ground, two monster-like people engaged in a frenzied battle.

The Navy Soldiers at the base also began to pray for Garp’s victory. Facing the chaotic battle between the two, their guns and cannons had completely lost their meaning. All they could do now was to support the other side mentally.

...

Meanwhile, in the sky, the battle with the eight-headed dragon continued. Thunder and rain had no effect on it, but they weakened Mouse and Bogard, making it harder for them to restrict the eight-headed dragon in this weather.

”How exactly are we supposed to deal with this thing....”

Mouse wiped the rainwater off his face. Living beings can be killed, but the monstrous dragon in front of them couldn’t be killed no matter what.

They had inflicted certain damage to its heart and head, but the result was the same each time; it would recover in no time. The eight-headed dragon still maintained its eight-headed appearance, but they had gained many wounds.

”It must have its limits, but we seem to be unable to find this limit...”

In Bogard’s understanding, no creature could regenerate indefinitely. Even Logia-type ability users would exhaust their stamina when releasing elemental attacks. Once stamina was exhausted, they couldn’t use their abilities as they pleased.

The regeneration of the eight-headed dragon couldn’t possibly come from thin air; it must have its limits.

Bogard was not wrong; if they could exhaust the eight-headed dragon’s stamina, it would lose its ability to resist, even if it had many lives, it would be taken down bit by bit.

However, exhausting its stamina might be more difficult than killing it eight times.

”It rarely uses the heads in the middle to fight, those, along with the biggest one in the middle, may be its weak points.”

They had only cut down two of the eight-headed dragon’s heads at the start, but those heads linked to the ones used for combat later were the side heads. The heads in the middle and at the back rarely engaged in direct combat.

”I’ll distract it; you try it out. At this rate, our stamina will run out first. We can’t keep waiting; who knows what troublesome abilities this thing has.”

They didn’t worry about the thunderstorm, as it wasn’t particularly difficult—they knew the Navy’s Science Corps could also easily achieve such a feat. Their concern was more about unknown powers.

Mouse and Bogard quickly reached a consensus; Mouse tried his best to attract the attention of the eight-headed dragon, while Bogard began searching for a new opportunity.

They were planning, and the eight-headed dragon was also plotting. These two people were annoying, and they couldn’t be solved in a short time. It would be attacked if it descended, so although it could maintain a higher and safer area, the damage it could inflict was very limited.

It hurt when those little guys cut it, and it didn’t want to keep getting hit. After some consideration, it seemed to have come up with a new idea.

Mouse and Bogard made a critical mistake. In this thunderstorm, they communicated by shouting, and although the eight-headed dragon could understand Kaidou’s commands, they didn’t give it much thought.

Even a trained dog can understand simple vocabulary, but Pokemon are different. They can understand human language quite accurately, and it has extremely sensitive hearing, which means it heard their entire plan.

In the Pokemon World, this is not uncommon, even in competitions, where Pokemon can make more effective judgments based on their understanding and the enemy’s attack, like that exceptional Dracovish.

At this moment, the eight-headed dragon set a trap for them. It didn’t act immediately but continued aerial maneuvers as before. During its descent, it deliberately took two hits in different spots and then put on an enraged pose.

No longer controlling its altitude, it began frantically attacking Mouse, and the powerful continuous strikes left Mouse struggling to fend off. However, Bogard seized the opportunity and cut off one of its heads at the rear side. This time, it controlled its body, didn’t regenerate immediately, and the remaining heads showed a terrified expression.

”It worked! Its middle heads are its weak points!”

Bogard, who temporarily retreated, revealed a happy smile; finding the weak points was good news, as it allowed them to reorganize their tactics properly.

Initially, Bogard aimed at the central main head, and the eight-headed dragon assumed an unavoidable stance, using another head beside it to block the strike.

”It doesn’t seem quite right, don’t you think it’s too smooth?”

With the tactic quickly showing effect, Mouse felt an unscientific sense that the monster dragon should have many more methods to counter.

”Let’s try again; maybe it really is effective?”

”Alright...”

Although suspicious, they didn’t have any better ideas. Besides, a monster, no matter how intelligent, how strong could it be?

Continuing their previous tactic, they alternated in drawing its attention. Originally, those heads formed a perfect defensive line, but now with gaps appearing, the eight-headed dragon’s defense was no longer perfect; several times, they almost attacked its main head.

The eight-headed dragon became more irritable, finally allowing Mouse to spot a huge flaw.

”Moonwalk, Soru!”

Using the combination of Moonwalk and Soru, Mouse drew his sword towards the central head, but before the blade touched the eight-headed dragon, Bogard’s voice came to his ears.

”Watch out!”

Just as the previously unregenerated head suddenly regenerated, the newly formed head glared viciously at Mouse, opening its mouth wide with fangs shimmering with cold and venom biting towards Mouse.

It had endured so many strikes just to lure these two slippery eel-like guys into an impossible-to-evade position.

They fell into the trap!

Mouse could never have dreamed that the two of them would be outsmarted by a beast. They had been careful enough, probing for quite some time before seizing this opportunity to attack. Unexpectedly, the opponent’s patience surpassed theirs.
