Arceus's Pirate Journey

Chapter 718: Chapter 717: It’s No Kurozumi Family Weakling

Beep! Beep! Beep!

Inside the control room, the alarm sounded, indicating that they had lost control of the artillery. In building the G-1 Branch, the World Government and the Navy had invested a great deal of manpower and resources.

As the gateway guarding Mary Geoise, the firepower level of the G-1 Branch is comparable to the Navy Headquarters, which is why Akainu could transform it into the New Navy Headquarters directly.

The artillery was built to withstand both extreme heat and cold, as well as corrosion from rain, so even the high temperatures just now didn’t affect the internal circuits.

But the designers hadn’t anticipated what this artillery would encounter today. 𝘧𝓇ℯℴ𝓂

The Yamata no Orochi can use attacks from various attributes, and each head can emit different types of attacks. However, each head has its strongest attribute, and what the artillery faces now was something unexpected.

Under Arceus’s modification, most of the powers that Kurozumi Orochi had not developed were revived, combining its inherent toxins with the Toxic Plate to create corrosive poison.

The intense corrosiveness of this toxin has an exceptional counterbalancing effect on metal. In games, Pokemon’s poison is resisted by Steel-type because their toxins can hardly penetrate the bodies of Steel-type Pokemon.

In reality, if a poison reaches a certain concentration and stays inside for too long, even Steel-type Pokemon might get poisoned.

Among them, there’s a trait called Corrosion, which makes the Pokemon’s toxin more potent. They can easily corrode the metallic bodies of Steel-type Pokemon, putting them into a poisoned state.

The venom the Yamata no Orochi spews has a similar trait, removing one threatening heavy artillery piece after another. It’s combative, but combativeness doesn’t mean it enjoys being hit.

The corroded gun barrels could no longer bear their own weight and fell under gravity, landing heavily beside the Navy soldiers below, smothering the flames of determination that burned in their hearts and filling them with a heavy sense of despair.

”Attack!! Drive it away! Don’t let it rampage unchecked and destroy the artillery!!!”

A number of Navy soldiers appeared on the rooftops and verandas outside the gun positions. It seemed currently that the coastal defense heavy artillery were among the few weapons capable of inflicting damage; if they allowed it to destroy them all, they wouldn’t have any counter-measures.

Light weapons were ineffective, and heavy weapons were cumbersome, requiring significant effort for those Navy soldiers to move them up.

”Major, you’re in charge of directing here to cover these gun positions, at least restricting it down there.”

”Your Excellency, Junior Admiral, you want to...”

”Someone has to stop this thing.”

Weapons aren’t the only means; individual combat force can also determine the outcome of a battle. Humans can’t fly, so they resort to external force, and here they employ Martial Arts.

Rokushiki is a compulsory course for CP9 and CP0, and Navy commanders also generally master some Rokushiki techniques.

But on the battlefield, besides fighting, directing is also an important duty of a commander. Therefore, after making the arrangements, this Junior Admiral finally rushed into the battlefield.

”Cover the Junior Admiral’s retreat!”

As Navy members, they might be filled with fear, but they also perform their duties. Guns and rocket launchers drew the Yamata no Orochi’s attention, and each spurt of fire it emitted could cause immense casualties.

Without needing to look back, the Junior Admiral knew that his subordinates were suffering tremendous losses and, using the Moonwalk ability, quickly approached the Yamata no Orochi.

”Die, monster!”

The blade, enveloped in Haki, was wielded with almost full strength toward the largest head in the center of the Yamata no Orochi, but before he could enjoy any victory, two adjacent heads suddenly turned toward him.

The largest head in the center of the Yamata no Orochi is its main brain with self-awareness. It is flanked by two heads and backed by three more heads. Although the other seven heads are akin to limbs with no true consciousness, they can share the main brain’s vision.

Evading its awareness is nearly impossible, and the long and flexible neck allowed two dragon heads to turn around, one releasing lightning while the other’s teeth glistened ominously, ready to bite him.

In no time, he couldn’t avoid the lightning attack, and his body fell into paralysis. At the moment he was about to be bitten, a piece of rubble suddenly flew, and the beast’s instinct sensed danger, making it abandon the attack on reflex.

....

Boom!

In front of G-1 Branch, Kaidou smashed the ground with a club, looking at Garp in front of him with even greater murderous intent in his eyes.

”Bastard! You dare to meddle in that battle!”

”Hahaha, promising juniors can’t die at the hands of a mere beast; their future stages suit them better.”

Initially, Garp wanted to deal with the Yamata no Orochi first, but Kaidou wouldn’t give him a chance. He had just deliberately leveraged an attack to be knocked away to seize the opportunity.

”You won’t get another chance; I’m seriously angry now!”

”Just as well, I’m quite angry too. Let’s head to Impel Down and chat with some of your seniors!”

Simultaneously, in the sky, two cold lights flashed, and unbelievably, the two heads it stretched out were sliced off!

Two heads fell to the ground, and the splattering Dragon Blood reignited the soldiers’ fighting spirit below.

”Roar!!”

Pain fuelled the Yamata no Orochi’s rage, yet it didn’t lose its sanity, only staring intently at the two suddenly appeared individuals.

The instincts of its body alerted it that these two posed even greater threats.

Headquarter Vice Admiral - G1 Base Commander - Doberman.

Navy Headquarter Junior Admiral - Garp’s adjutant - Bogard.

As an older generation Vice Admiral, Doberman’s strength is formidable. Compared to the most elite Navy Admirals, these Vice Admirals are the Navy’s foundation stones.

Although Bogard is a Junior Admiral, his capabilities surpass that level. Serving as Garp’s adjutant for over twenty years, his prowess rivals the veteran Vice Admirals at Headquarters.

Garp sensed the battle situation here and arrived early, while Bogard had just arrived by ship. Though Doberman had always been here, he observed the Yamata no Orochi to understand its combat characteristics and capabilities.

The Yamata no Orochi demonstrated its capabilities in several attacks, allowing Doberman to make an initial judgment. Apart from himself, he feared no one else in the base could handle it.

Therefore, he chose to sacrifice some soldiers to probe the opponent’s abilities.

Despite being cruel, this is war. If he rushed in and got defeated by unknown powers, no one else in the G-1 Branch could stop it, and the ensuing casualties would be even more horrific.

”Stand down; you go organize the soldiers. We two will take over here.”

”Understood...”

Doberman dismissed the Junior Admiral fighting desperately, exchanged a look with Bogard, and took over this confrontation. This beast wasn’t as frightening as imagined; its defense wasn’t as formidable as he had thought.

Yet, in the very next moment, two brand-new heads grew from the severed necks of the Dragon heads.
