The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Yao Shi finished speaking angrily, hung up the phone, and leaned back against the car seat with a long sigh.

To be honest, if it weren’t for his wife Su Jing suddenly making a fuss about getting a divorce, he might still be kept in the dark.

He had a flaw.

Whether you call it overconfidence or arrogance, it didn’t matter.

Anyway, once he was set on something, he rarely questioned it again.

Since he married Su Jing and the two entered the halls of marriage, he was determined to live a good life with her.

Because he was someone who wouldn’t tolerate any speck of dust, and anyone who knew him was well aware of this, he thought that no matter how much Su Jing played around, she wouldn’t dare challenge his bottom line.

Unless she really didn’t want to live a good life with him and didn’t want this family anymore.

But who would have thought that Su Jing would really give him a resounding slap in the face.

More arrogant than him, she thought she could cheat and then turn the tables, wanting to evenly divide the family assets with him.

So, when an old friend unintentionally saw Su Jing checking into a hotel with a young man and called to tell him, he mocked his friend, asking if he needed glasses.

At that time, he had already received Su Jing’s request for divorce, and while both were dealing with the stress, he simply couldn’t believe Su Jing would cheat at such a time.

The old friend, helpless, couldn’t resist advising him not to be so self-righteous.

Ever since ancient times, the husband is always the last to know if the wife cheats.

After hanging up, the old friend even pulled some strings to help check Su Jing’s ID information and related hotel records.

The intention was to give Yao Shi a wake-up call and be more mindful of his family.

Unexpectedly, the investigation yielded nearly a whole year’s worth of hotel stay records.

The old friend realized things had escalated and simply took pictures of the records and sent them directly to Yao Shi.

The weather will not change, and a wife who wants to cheat cannot be stopped.

...

Fu Yu hitched a ride with Yao Shi back to Qianlima.

Knowing Yao Shi might have some matters to attend to upon his return, Fu Yu didn’t ask much.

At this hour, the kitchen staff wasn’t off work yet, so after greeting Yao Shi, Fu Yu got out of the car and jogged over to change his clothes.

Zhao Meng was on the late shift today, and Fu Yu planned to help out in the kitchen.

Yao Shi stayed in the car, motionless, and took out his phone to call Zhao Meng.

Zhao Meng came out after a while, having already changed his clothes.

With Fu Yu handling the kitchen, Zhao Meng felt at ease and decided to skip his shift.

Getting in the car, Zhao Meng held a plastic bag containing beer he grabbed from the dorm, along with a few snacks he picked up on the way.

Zhao Meng’s house was on a side street, and it only took a few minutes of driving to reach the community.

The two of them went upstairs one after the other, and Zhao Meng took out the key to open the door and handed it to Yao Shi.

”You can keep this set of keys; I have another set in the dorm if needed.”

Yao Shi took the keys and put them in his pocket.

The house was tidied up, the construction debris previously piled up was moved downstairs by Fu Yu with Lin Minghao’s help, back and forth.

The inside and out, upstairs and downstairs, were all cleaned thoroughly.

Zhao Meng opened the shoe cabinet casually, and inside were two pairs of men’s slippers.

After changing shoes, Zhao Meng casually took off his down jacket, walking to the living room sofa, he asked, ”So, what’s your plan next?”

Yao Shi followed, took off his coat, and sat down beside Zhao Meng on the sofa, his expression showing irrepressible fatigue.

”What other plan could I have? Split cleanly with that bitch, get my money back, live life as it should be, as if I can’t live without her?”

”I’m worried she might regret it, and you might soften up again.”

Zhao Meng knew something about Yao Shi’s family affairs.

Judging by Su Jing’s attitude towards Yao Shi, she clearly didn’t love him anymore.

She had been making a fuss about divorce for a while, and Yao Shi struggled for so long before he finally saw things clearly and decided to let go.

Only to suddenly discover Su Jing’s betrayal.

Especially since it turned out Su Jing had been cheating for a whole year, turning Yao Shi’s head into a metaphorical green field.

Still, after nearly twenty years of life together, this sudden decision of complete detachment concerned Zhao Meng that Yao Shi wouldn’t keep his resolve.

After all, Yao Shi was now quite well off and if they were to divorce, there’d definitely be a tussle over dividing their shared assets.

”If I would be lenient to anyone, it would never be her! I’ve already hired a lawyer, and I’ve got the evidence. Even if she doesn’t walk away with nothing, she better not think she’ll get an extra cent from me!”

”Will she come to make a fuss?”

Yao Shi sneered.

If he hadn’t known about Su Jing’s betrayal, he might have felt guilty, thinking that if a divorce and property division were inevitable, he might as well give up more, confident in his ability to earn as much money as he wanted.

But now...

”Let her make a fuss then, if she wants to jump off a building, let her jump, if she wants to swallow pills, let her. For old time’s sake, I’ll give her a wreath, that should be considerate enough, right?”

Zhao Meng casually opened a can of beer and took a couple of sips, sighing, ”You’re all talk. All these years, how many times have you argued with Su Jing, and how often did she soften you up with a bit of whining?”

Zhao Meng opened the plastic bags of snacks one by one, breaking open chopsticks, he couldn’t help but worry for Yao Shi.

He felt things were not as simple as Yao Shi claimed.

After all, Su Jing clearly no longer had any feelings for Yao Shi, and now, her mind must be set on dividing the family assets.
